Chapter 19 - Yearning

Sucura sighed inwardly, reflecting on the unexpected turn of events. 'I had anticipated Charmaine would observe me for a few more days, but I never imagined she would approach me on next day,' he mused. 'Thankfully, that letter was promptly sent to Sandra.'

He glanced down at the parchment in his hand, recalling Jonas's words regarding the secret endings of Event XIII.

He perused the additional parchments with great interest.

Secondary :

1.) In spite of my uncanny ability to perceive the levels of those around me, I find myself at a loss when it comes to Vyn. He harbors an enigmatic, prodigious strength that eludes comprehension and defies all reason.

• Single-handedly, Vyn vanquished the formidable Goblin King, a feat deemed impossible due to the vast disparity in their attributes.

• Similarly, Vyn overcame the Kobold King without assistance, once again defying the odds stacked against him.

• Vyn's prowess extends to conquering numerous D-ranked and C-ranked dungeons, amassing a collection of rare and powerful artifacts in the process.

'Shalanta's information on his past achievements is truly peculiar,' he thought to himself, tapping his fingers rhythmically as he gazed at the ceiling. After several contemplative minutes, he returned his attention to the parchments before him.

2.) Village Meroeda

• Known as the "Dead Zone"

• Rumors swirl of the presence of the Apocalypse Horsemen or Horsewomen?

'The Village of Meroeda remains shrouded in secrecy. When I mentioned to Shalanta that I couldn't recall any details, she merely cast a peculiar glance in my direction before divulging that it was Vyn who single-handedly vanquished the cultists,' he mused, intrigued by the unfolding mystery.

With a quiet sigh, he accessed his skills.

'I have yet to fully grasp the nuances of this ability, let alone ascertain the means to locate their whereabouts,' he pondered, casting his gaze upon his newly acquired skill, the Moonlight Arts.

[Blessings]

Moonlight Arts (Unique Rank) (Passive)

- As twilight descends, the user's senses awaken, granting them enhanced night vision. Under the moon's ethereal glow, their attributes are bolstered, and a gentle surge of mana courses through their veins, amplifying their regeneration rate.

'I can now perceive faintly in the darkness, as if a subtle luminescence has been cast, and I can sense my strength increasing; it's a peculiar sensation.' Sucura rose to his feet, his posture exuding tranquility and poised. He planted his feet firmly on the ground, shoulder-width apart, and aligned his body to face his imaginary target directly.

As he prepared to strike, he took a deep breath, drawing strength from within. His muscles tensed, and he rotated his hips slightly, generating power from his core. With a swift, fluid motion, he extended his arm, his fist clenched tightly and knuckles aligned. The punch cut through the air like a razor-sharp blade, its trajectory straight and true.

*Whiish*

The atmosphere within the room reverberated as he executed a straight punch through the air. Sucura mused to himself, 'So this is the sensation of harnessing a newfound skill.'

He then shifted his attention to his finger, particularly the dark ring adorning it. The ring featured intricate details, and when he channeled his mana into it, he sensed an immense, empty space within.

He approached the desk where a potion lay. As he activated the mana within the ring, he felt as though he was placing something inside. He positioned the potion near the ring, and it vanished. Upon activating the ring again, he discovered an item – the very same potion he had just placed within its mysterious confines.

'Magic is indeed a fascinating phenomenon,' Sucura remarked as he headed towards the bathroom. He took a quick bath, and after drying off, he dressed himself and made his way back to the bed.

Lying in bed, his arm draped protectively over his eyes, he allowed himself to be consumed by his thoughts for a full half hour, a whirlwind of emotions stirring deep within his soul.

'I had convinced myself that I could suppress my feelings, focusing solely on the mission at hand, but the relentless ache of homesickness continues to gnaw at me. Perhaps I am the least adaptable among transmigrators. I had naively believed that I could simply "move on and forge ahead." I understand that complaining will yield no results, but above all, I am only human. I am not an infallible being.'

'Mother, Sister, and Grey, how do you fare in my absence? I remain here, my heart aching with the uncertainty of whether I will ever return home. I hope my sister is taking good care of my beloved cat. I long for the taste of my mother's cooking, especially her savory pork stews and steaming hot soups. I miss the family vacations spent exploring new places, the laughter shared among friends, the spirited karaoke nights, and the simple joy of playing games together.'

A solitary tear escaped, tracing a path down his cheek, and he subconsciously wiped it away.

No, I must not succumb to weakness. I am a man.

But…

For now, perhaps I can…

Even if just for a fleeting moment…

After all, I am alone here…
