The human in question was on the first floor of the building, so he prepared to fire a shot. Menil realized this, but there was nothing he could do but approach the shelter quickly.
The Breeder raised his spear and fired. Fortunately, Leonard knew very well that he had to be careful, for he remembered very well that the Breeder had tried to kill him before, so after revealing his position with a shot, he changed his position and ordered the others to stay away from where he was.
A few seconds later the attack came. Like a beam of light, the spear struck the first floor of the building and detonated, shattering part of the floor and the wall.
"I'll try to draw the attacks, you'd better all stay away from me."
"Go to the left wing, there are fewer people there," Zack shouted.
Leonard went to the left wing, from where he took another shot. However, the attack he expected never came. With a lump in his throat, he kicked the door behind him and leapt into the apartment. Moments later, another spear hit the floor and detonated, leaving a hole and causing a shower of debris to splatter the hallway. Leonard screamed, full of pain, as a chunk of concrete that came through the door hit him in the shoulder, causing him to fall face down on the floor. With difficulty he struggled to his feet, left the flat and headed for the right wing. The idea of distracting the Breeder had disappeared from his mind. On the way, he met Noah, who was firing at the more dangerous Stalkers downstairs.
"That thing is too dangerous. We need to do something about those attacks. No one has died, but it's only a matter of time," he said to Noah. Noah didn't look at him, but nodded and soon after replied:
"But what can we do? I'm afraid there's nothing we can do."
The Breeder was angry, as everyone kept dodging his attacks, so he decided that he would kill someone next time. Menil, meanwhile, made his way to the roof of one of the buildings that overlooked the Block 4 superblock and its car park. There he found a Windwalker watching the fight intently.
For a moment he thought about attacking, but stopped himself, suspecting that the Breeder would comply if he killed what he suspected were its eyes on the battle. He decided to circle the Windwalker carefully and then headed towards the building. There he met Leonard and Noah on the first floor and told them what he had seen. Leonard nodded in satisfaction and the three of them planned their next move.
The Windwalker looked at him, but did not attack. Menil didn't know if the zombie had held back because it was under the Breeder's orders or because he was another Windwalker, though he suspected it was the former.
Meanwhile, the Breeder began to look for a target and soon found it. It was a tall man fighting near the bridge of the building in melee with a group of Stalkers. He raised his spear and threw.
Zack didn't notice the attack, all he could see was a flash of light and then he felt a great pain in one of his legs, which lost strength and sent him crashing to the ground. Luckily for him, the spear had gone cleanly through him, but even when it exploded he was still too close to it.
Part of Zack's group, who were fighting close to him, ended up wounded and the Stalkers managed to overtake and surround them. Zack was still alive, as his powers gave him great endurance, but he was bleeding all over and could barely stand up.
Luckily, seconds later, Arlem, who was watching the fight from safety, leapt forward and managed to heal Zack. He was weakened, but alive.
Arlem also managed to heal Anin, who took care of the nearest Stalkers.
"Quickly! Help me get him up," shouted Arlem to a man named Lin, who had been with Zack from the beginning. Before they could do anything, however, Zack struggled to his feet.
"I'll go with Miriam, you guys keep defending."
"But what about the Breeder attacks?"
"Pray it doesn't attack."
Zack stepped back, limping. Arlem's healing spell had helped him keep his leg, but it looked like it was going to have lasting consequences.
Miriam was on the second floor, tending to Miguel, who had been badly injured. Luckily, Miriam had arrived in time, but things were not looking good. The damage to Miguel's spine was massive, so Miriam needed a couple of potions to heal it. This meant that Miguel was pretty much out of the battle, as he had fallen asleep right away.
Zack came into the room limping and exhausted from the healing he had just received. He looked at the old soldier and sighed. It didn't look good. The Breeder had only sent the Stalkers after them, but their attacks were wreaking havoc on the group. With Miguel out of the fight and Zack now wounded, that was two fighters down. Considering there were only a handful of them, it was a considerable number.
"Can you do anything for my leg? Arlem healed me, but I'm still limping."
"Let me use a potion, but you'll be exhausted right after."
"There's nothing to be done, I'll have to make do."
Miriam seemed to hesitate for a moment.
"I have a spell I haven't used yet. It can remove fatigue completely for ten minutes. Remember, if you need it, come to me."
Zack nodded and then left the room after receiving the potion treatment. The limp improved a little, but in return he now felt completely exhausted and hungry. On the way back to the bridge, he ate some sweets he had saved for the moment and then concentrated on staying awake.
Soon he would be back in combat and all he wished was that the Breeder had fixed his attention on something else.
Luna, the name the Breeder now referred to himself by, was very annoyed. The humans had proven to be far more resilient than he had thought. None of them seemed to want to die, time and time again leaving them on the brink of death, but something saved them. For that reason, the Breeder now turned his attention to Arlem. The man had healed the other one, so he decided to deal with him next.
However, he lost sight of the building just as he was about to attack. He was confused for a moment, but quickly tried to connect to another Windwalker and found that he could not. They all appeared to be dead. Luna looked up and looked towards block 4. He could only connect his vision to his progeny, so he couldn't use it on the Stalkers or the other zombies.
Filled with rage, he took flight and headed towards the last point where his Windwalkers were, but not before sending a signal to all the other zombies to start the attack.
Next to the corpses of the Windwalkers was Menil, who after reaching the superblock had agreed with Leonard to kill them.
With Leonard and Noah's help, the job had been easy. Noah was on the roof of the superblock, from where he had managed to kill the Windwalkers. Menil had also been involved, despite his injuries.
"It is possible that the Breeder will come to attack us, so everyone must be ready to dodge." Said Noah.
Meanwhile, on the 10th floor, Ivy and Tarin nervously chatted in the corridor. Both were watching the ambush against the Breeder closely.
"Do you think it will work?" she asked.
"I don't know, but I wish they had included us in it. I'm tired of waiting here, doing nothing."
"I understand, but Miguel is right, if we spend all our energy at the beginning of the fight, we won't be of much use."
Tarin nodded. He understood the explanation, but he was impatient. Seeing everyone fighting while he did nothing made him feel like a situation like the one with Jane would happen all over again. He wanted to be fighting with everyone down there.
Meanwhile, Menil, who was on the roof where the Windwalkers were killed in the ambush planned by Leonard and Noah, tensed his body. He was the one most at risk in this operation, but if they wanted a chance to lure the Breeder out and kill it, they had to do it. That thing was decimating them with so many attacks.
His instincts were quick to warn of the danger, so Menil dodged at full speed. After his evolution, his body had become much more agile than he expected, so he was able to move very fast. Even so, the Breeder's attack passed only a few centimeters from his face.
The spear had been much faster than any of the other attacks the Breeder had made, so much so that it practically expended all the energy needed for three attacks. The spear penetrated the roof of the building and continued on its way, exploding only when it hit the floor of the top floor house.
This saved Menil, who only lost his balance when the explosion went off. However, the Breeder was already landing in front of him. Luna attacked with all her might and her nails easily pierced Menil's chest. However, before he could repeat the attack, Leonard's ball slammed into his head and exploded.
Menil lay on the ground, bleeding and completely out cold, but still alive, while the Breeder fell back, completely stunned. He was getting angrier and angrier, so he reflexively opened his mouth to scream, a moment Noah took advantage of to fire.
Despite how far away he was, the shot found its target with ease. It entered the Breeder's mouth and damaged its throat. The Breeder let out a screech of pain that deafened Menil, who tried to retreat, crawling along the ground until he reached the edge of the roof.
Luna took a few steps back and tried to come to. The attack had taken him by surprise, but he intended to recover soon and finish off all the clowns who had dared to harm him. Unfortunately for him, Leonard attacked again and the Breeder took a ball to the chest, which knocked him to the ground. Luna felt an anger that burned like the sun in the sky. She drained every ounce of her energy and used it to control the wind around her, forming a whirlpool that grew and grew until it began to affect the surroundings. He decided he would no longer hold back.
Noah surveyed the scene with satisfaction, the ramming had been a success, but he wasn't sure how much damage had been done to the Breeder.
"Tell Menil to get out of there, the Breeder won't be long in recovering," he said to Leonard.
"I don't think that's necessary. He's already escaping."
