Vernox went into the forest and met the young girl standing there and staring at her brother.
"Was he family?" Vernox asked as he got beside her.
She nodded in response as she looked at her Saviour from head to toe. She didn't freak out as she saw his horns and she knew that he was a demon like her.
"I'm about to go back to the kingdom. Would you go with me?" Vernox asked.
Little Beth was scared that she would be left alone with the monsters in the forest.
She nodded towards his proposal and he led her out of there as they went to the kingdom.

The king, upon hearing the news that his shadow guards were all assasinated was devastated and angry at the humans.
As he saw that Vernox saved who he could save he rewarded Vernox and took Beth in.
.....
It's been ten years since Beth parents died. She has been training in the demon pit for years now.
She was at the level of a soul master now and has taken on missions to hunt powerful monsters in the forest.
...
One day, she decided to go and visit her old house inside the forest as it's been so long.
'Maybe there's something they left behind'
She thought as she left the castle and walked to the stable.
"Greetings your highness" Beth greeted Vernox immediately she saw him.
"Bet hi, where are you going?"
"I'm going to visit my parents old place to see if there is anything of usage there" she said.
Vernox was not shocked that she could tell him this without being afraid.
It was because of trust, trust forged from countless duels, monster hunts and hate for humans.
"I'm about to head out too, let's go together"
Both of them boarded a horse and left the kingdom, riding towards the forest.
Getting to the forest they rode into the forest while slaying some weak monsters that tried to obstruct their path.
____________
"There it is" Beth said as she unmounted the horse.
Before them was a small house converted by Vines and grasses and it looked very old.
"You haven't come here since that time right?" Vernox could tell from one glance.
The building looked like it could fall apart anytime soon with the cracks on the walls and such.
Vernox and Beth walked to the house and started removing the obstructions in their path. The Vines were quite thick so it took some time to cut them down.
"Let's go!"
"No" Vernox replied, making Beth look at him in confusion.
"It's your house right. I'll wait outside for you"
She smiled as she nodded and entered into the house while he waited outside.
Upon entering a wave of emotions and memories flooded her head as she was looking around, remembering her parents...her brother.
She walked around the place and was looking through everything in the house as she thought that there must be something they left or they owned that could help her.
She knew her parents were a part of the most powerful force in the demon kingdom, the 'Shadow guards'.
The shadow guards are special people who have control and talent when I comes to shadow element and nighttime.
From what she knows, they could manipulate shadows and use as their weapons against their opponents and targets.
Beth didn't know how strong they were, but everyone in the kingdom talks about them that they were one of the most powerful demon team in existence.
....
Beth searched and searched but she couldn't find anything related to the shadow guards or what they did before the incident.
"Sigh..." she sighed as she gave up on finding anything as she got ready to leave already.
*Pa*
She furrowed her brows as she heard an echo from the part where she stepped on now. She quickly removed the extremely dusty carpet.
....
Beneath the carpet there was actually a small door that opens upwards. Beth was sure that she hasn't seen this before.
'Maybe they kept their stuff safe'
She opened the door and revealed a staircase leading down to somewhere.
Beth didn't hesitate as she walked into the ground and climbed the stairs downwards into the secret passage.
She lit up a flame in her hands as she ventured deeper into the ground.
She wondered what could be down here, after all her parents never mentioned anything about this place to her or her brother.
Soon she reached the end as she highlighted the staircase. It was a small room and there was a thick soul Demonic energy inside this room.
She noticed a faint light in the distance and went to it. She wasn't afraid but curious as she always wanted to know what her parents did.
She knows what they used to do as the demon Lord has told her their story.
"What is that?" she murmured as she saw a box which had a small gem that glowed a dark purple light.
She was getting a familiar feeling as she neared the big rectangular box. She observed the box, red, golden outlines and a gem..... although she didn't recognise the gem she could tell that it was precious.
She moved unconsciously and touched the gem and it vibrated as it glowed brighter.
*BRRRRRRR*
It vibrated the table and what was on it.
The vibrating stopped a while later and the box was unlocked.
"Gasp...." she gasped for breath as she saw the contents of the box.
