A Grandmaster of the Afterlife Church, Archpaladin Asher who was a relatively young age of 69, was killed by a recently Awakened person.
Before becoming Transcendent, everyone, regardless of their ranks, were still human and most of them had common weaknesses of humans. Their skin was tougher than mundane humans, but not enough for the metal to be bent when it hit them. They would still die if their heart or brain were pierced and they didn't have a unique ability or artifact to preserve their lives. ,
Hence, there was a still chance for an Awakened to kill a Grandmaster, but it was abysmally low. Every Grandmaster was more experienced from Awakened and naturally stronger both body and ability-wise.
So even with underhanded methods, if an Awakened killed a Grandmaster, that would be a sign of how the said Awakened's ability was powerful with lots of potential. In short, how 'bright' the said Awakened's future, or how bloody their path will be.
