Chapter 26 - Blind?

Unfortunately, Auriel's wish of sleeping for a week didn't come true, as he woke up because of the loud voices of something falling to the floor and a cry of pain coming from his room.

He couldn't even sleep a day in his relaxing bath! He wasn't very happy about this but all he could do was release a sigh that contained many emotions, which most of them negative, and got out of the addictive warm waters.

With just a loose bathrobe, Auriel got out of the bathroom and looked at the person who interrupted his quality time.

Well, that person was Elise. When she woke up in an unfamiliar place with a blindfold and no one to ask anything, she just fell to the floor and let out a pained voice. Though even if there was a person, she still wouldn't talk with them as she was very scared of people right now.

"Are you genuinely blind? Or do you have demonic eyes or something similar to it?"

After hearing Auriel's voice, Elise trembled immediately and backed down instinctively, only to be stopped by the couch she was sleeping on before.

"Sigh… Didn't I tell you that you are safe as long as you don't betray me? Know this and stop your pathetic act. You are going to be my servant, not a slave."

Elise's shaking reduced to a degree as she tilted her head and looked at Auriel with a hopeful expression.

"R-Really?" her vulnerable voice effectively showed her weak self.

Auriel nodded calmly, forgetting the fact that this slave girl wasn't even seeing him right now.

He coughed into his hand and looked away to hide his momentary stupidity but noticed that he was trying to hide his stupidity from someone who wasn't seeing him.

A slap sound resounded in the gloomy room as Auriel slapped himself to clear his head.

'Sleeping in the bath is dangerous for the brain, just look at this I suddenly become an idiot…' Auriel thought and turned to Elise, who was trembling again because of the painful sound of slap voice.

But Auriel began to speak as if that slap sound was just an illusion.

"Yes, I won't harm you as long as you don't betray me and do what I said wholeheartedly. You don't have to be scared to fail and receive a punishment, as long as you did your best, I won't do anything, though you won't gain any reward from me if you can't accomplish the things I wanted."

Auriel could see that the hope in Elise was rising slowly after hearing his words and her trembling lessened considerably.

'Should I create a damsel in distress situation to gain her trust quickly?' Auriel thought seriously but fortunately for this girl, Auriel let go of this idea as it was too much of a hassle to make.

Instead, he decided to go with a little but forceful way.

"It seems time got too late while I was sleeping," Auriel muttered while looking at the moon in the sky illuminating his room lightly, giving an ethereal feeling.

"You are blind, right? Can you take a bath yourself? You are pretty dirty and I don't want you to dirty my room more."

Elise's face burned because of Auriel's blunt words and lowered her head in shame while whispering weakly.

"I–i can…"

"Then get up and take a bath. I don't want my servant to walk around covered in blood like a lunatic." Aurield ordered and sat on his bed.

Elise's bloodied face paled considerably and she stuttered with disgust.

"B–bl–blood!?"

Then she leaned to her side and began to puke while tears came from her eyes, slowly wetting her blindfold.

Auriel couldn't help but facepalm at this sight. He didn't know why this girl, who was living in a medieval world where people kill each other for rock-hard bread, was scared or disgusted by blood.

But as a 'kind' master of this girl, Auriel just crouched at her side and lifted her golden and surprisingly soft hair while patting her back.

Every Awakened person strayed from being a human and was on the path to becoming something more, hence Auriel saw this strange golden hair as the first transformation of this girl as her path to power and considered normal.

Anyway, normally Elise would be scared shitless if someone touched her right now, but Auriel took advantage of her while she was distracted.

After a short time, Elise released all of the contents in her stomach, including stomach acid. She was a slave, so she wasn't fed properly and there wasn't so much in her to puke.

Then she backed away after feeling Auriel's touch and realizing what she had done just a moment ago. In an instant, she hit her forehead on the floor and began to quickly murmur.

Though it was apparent to Auriel that Elise was apologizing with fear.

Auriel contemplated patting her head to show more kindness but he quickly dismissed this idea. Too much kindness to a slave would only make the slave spoiled, nothing more.

"That is enough. I accept your apology, just don't do that in my room again, and get used to blood. You are in the Weaver mansion, there is nothing more than blood in here." Auriel said calmly and added after a pause.

"But for now, go take a bath," Auriel said and lifted Elise from her strings to her feet.

Because of the sudden movement, Elise lost her balance but Auriel held her strings to prevent her fall. When she properly stood on her feet, Auriel just pushed one of the strings to give her direction where she needed to go.

"If you are blind, you need to get used to your weakness but for now I will help you. Go in the direction where I poked you and open the door. After that slowly familiarize that bathroom via touching and don't go out until you are completely clean from the blood."

Elise was very frightened right now as she was lifted in the air and poked by Auriel while he was away, which made this girl scared. But still, she did what Auriel asked as there was hope in her that Auriel would keep his promise to not harm her if she did what Auriel asked.

Auriel let himself in the soft embrace of the bed and closed his eyes. He didn't care what was going on in the bathroom as he wasn't going to babysit a blind girl just because he felt that Elise would be a good asset for him.
