Chapter 18 - Elise

Even with Auriel's warm tone and gentle caresses, the slave girl didn't calm down, she just trembled with fear while tears came from her eyes, only to be blocked by the black blindfold.

"I am going to take your blindfold. Stay still for a second." Auriel said, making a move towards the blindfold, and received a slap to his hand from the slave girl.

After realizing what she had done, the slave girl quickly buried her face in her hands and trembled even more. It was apparent that this was an instinctive reaction on her part.

This girl was Awakened, a person with more strength than mundane humans, hence her slap hurt Auriel. Though he didn't voice this out, he just rubbed his hand to reduce the pain.

"Just now, I said I won't harm you, but this can change if you act like this and hit me. But I can forget this slap for now if you tell me your name," Auriel stated coldly, but he didn't get any response.

"You are the slave girl chosen by me, Auriel Weaver, a noble from a duke family, to make you a proper human being and close confidant of mine. But this is all useless if you don't make an effort. You need to take your heart and stand straight, or else you will be just a nameless slave girl until you die."

Auriel's tone was cold, making this poor slave shiver more and more, but at the same time, it engraved certain words of encouragement in her head.

Auriel could see that this girl recently became a slave, maybe a month, maybe a year, but nothing more. It was normal for her to be scared right now as she didn't have enough time to get used to being a slave in that seemingly long but short amount of time.

The slave girl's trembling decreased slowly in 5 minutes, and a slight shiver remained from her violent trembling.

Then she parted her dry lips and uttered a name.

"E- Elise…"

Her voice was feeble like her mind and body, but at the same time, it was soft and beautiful, but it wasn't enough to sway Auriel.

"Alright, Elise. As I said before, I am Auriel. You can call me Auriel or young master, as long as you don't disrespect me, you will live a good life."

After not getting any response again, Auriel just got up from the couch and said:

"Get up and follow me if you don't want to be carried by my men."

After hearing this, Elise got up from the couch in a hurry, but before she could stand properly, she crashed into Sebastian and fell to the floor.

Then she got up again and tripped to the couch, but this time Auriel held her wrist before she fell and pulled her to himself. Elise got scared because of the sudden physical contact and pushed herself away from Auriel and fell to the floor again.

Auriel sighed and massaged his temples. He didn't know what to do about this too-scared girl and her blindfold that prevented her from seeing.

He thought about injecting a string to help her and control her movements, but he threw this idea from his mind. This girl was too untrustful right now, and if Auriel did something seemingly bad to her, he would lose his chance to gain her loyalty and trust.

Hence, Auriel turned to Sebastian and ripped his clothes from its arm area without caring for him, then he held one part of the cloth to the golden-haired slave and used that cloth as a rope.

"Hold this and follow me."

With a hesitant movement, Elise grabbed the cloth with her pale, veiny hands and got up.

Auriel began to walk slowly, minding the blind girl and passing the luxurious corridors of Killian's Golden Goose, getting down the stairs.

And when he was about to leave the auction house, a stocky voice came from his back.

"Give me that slave, Auriel."

When Auriel turned to the voice, he saw a fat man, who was looking at the blind girl with clear lust in his eyes, making Elise subconsciously hide behind Auriel, after receiving some kindness from him.

"Who was that again?" Auriel wondered out to himself, then he snapped his fingers and let out an 'aha!'.

"He is the balloon guy that was my supposed best friend, right?" He asked Gordon loud enough for the said balloon to hear, and after receiving a nod from Gordon, he threw a look at the lustful fatty and turned back to the exit.

"We will talk about this later, Auriel. I won't forget this!"

Auriel just smiled at these words and casually said without turning to him.

"Yes, Delorean. We can talk later."

Suddenly 'Delorean' threw a fit of rage as he stomped the ground with his herculean strength that came with being Awakened and his excessive weight, cracking the floors slightly.

Gordon, who saw this, tapped Auriel's shoulder slightly and leaned into his ears.

"His name is Doliver, young master Auriel. It is best to not cause trouble while we are not in our territory and without our soldiers."

Auriel nodded with understanding and turned to Doliver with a calm smile on his face.

"Let's talk again later, Doliver. Right now I am having some problems with my head." Auriel evenly said, which didn't contain any single trace of fear even in front of Doliver's show of strength.

Doliver was perplexed for a second, probably he wasn't used to Auriel's calm self who didn't get scared of his show of strength. Auriel was a mundane human before being Awakened overnight, hence it was normal for him to get scared of these kinds of things that involved strength.

Though this perplexion didn't last long because a loud noise reverberated in the entire area, making people close their eyes quickly.

Everyone's eyes went wide and their heart hammered their chest after hearing the sharp noise.

It was an alarm that everyone knew the meaning of in this kingdom, which indicated that a gate opened abruptly even before the kingdom sensed and was prepared for it.
