Chapter 11 - Demons (3)

Chapter 11: Demons (3)

Beelzebub wouldn't have expected to see a high demon in the Williard Village, let alone one taking a form of a black dog.

Prior to his short exchange of words with the demon of the dark alley, Beelzebub assumed that this dog was one of the low demons whose form was equal to his status. There were many low demons trapped in the bodies of animals and weak beasts, after all…

But now that he understood that the demons of the chasm used some secret means to escape their prison by sending weak-level projections outside, Beelzebub became serious, instantly thinking of his advantages and disadvantages.

He was in the same mood as before, in which Beelzebub thought of nothing but his victory and survival, not allowing any chances of defeat to thwart his plan. David was like that in the game, too, and disliked the idea of abusing the respawn feature, for it was still shameful and horrifying to die from monsters' hands.

And while some mishaps had happened during his four years journey in Revfantasy Online, David had piled so many valuable experiences that the difference between real life and game, in front of the monsters or demons alike, no longer mattered to him.

Beelzebub shall kill, survive, and win: The Lord Of Souls shall always be on the top.

Therefore, the sight of the dead, real body didn't exert any pressure on him, to say nothing of the demon whose muzzle leaked blood and flesh.

Meanwhile, the demon paid no heed to Beelzebub's origins. What mattered in this world was strength, and he didn't sense any threat from David, which was due to his low level and sealed bloodline and skills. Additionally, the demon would have noticed the difference between their origins had there been any.

"You'll work for me now, fool. If you refuse, I'll make you chew on the bones here and in the chasm!" The black dog barked his demands while slowly approaching the demon he deemed worthless.

But to his eerie voice, Beelzebub shook his head and blatantly refused by curving his lips into a derisive smile.

His soft voice sounded more irritating than before.

"I only make profitable business relationships… or enemies." David remained on his spot as though rooted in fear, his gentle voice turning his words into a false show of superiority.

Only one knew what exactly it was.

Unaware of Beelzebub's plan, the black dog mocked him for cowering in front of him, then finally proceeded to enslave him by zooming at David with his demonic body weighing more than an adult human. If he were to hit the slender humanoid demon with such a mass, Beelzebub would break like a thin branch!

That's how the scene looked the second after the demon moved.

And while David still didn't change his posture, he inwardly predicted the black dog's intent. 'An ego demon with a four-legged form will dominate his enemy by….'

The black demon leaped high, his red eyes meeting with Beelzebub's. A deep contempt brimmed in those hues, compelling his fangs to finally make an appearance. Two sharp weapons glimmered with demonic mana; their owner aimed them at Beelzebub's neck.

'…by toppling him down to declare the superiority.' Beelzebub finished his prediction, shifting his posture so that the black dog's paws would have touched him first.

The force of inertia and the demon's weight were more than Beelzebub's lanky body could have endured — he instantly felt an indisputable force bringing him down.

The demon's eyes flashed with victorious light as he saw the weak demon easily getting toppled down by him. To assert more dominance, the black dog followed his first intent, opening his jaw wider.

Ignoring all the pain spreading on his back like an avalanche, Beelzebub knew that it was his moment to deal with his enemy. He tilted his head to the side and parted his lips so slightly that his fire breath would be akin to a laser, with which he would precisely attack the demon's insides.

Shush!

The green flames restlessly escaped Beelzebub's lips, wanting to lick flesh.

And as David was so close to his enemy and purposely kept his lips barely open, the flames didn't engulf the muzzle and the demon's entire face but accurately slipped inside the black dog's mouth, burning him from the inside. The impact of those flames, the strength which easily tore through his flesh and even scratched his soul, and the sheer difference made the black demon realize that he had been wrong all this time.

The slender and pale demon before him is an existence of purer bloodline — blood he hasn't seen in his life.

"Ahhhh!" The black dog's understanding of his predicament was wiped off by the green flames, which had branched throughout his entire system, gobbling up his mana and viscera.

He could no longer think or beg for forgiveness. All he could do was thrash and wail before ceasing to exist, all in the trash of the dark alley as Beelzebub had kicked him away.

Beelzebub rose to his feet and patted his clothes while keeping one of his eyes closed due to the pain stinging him from behind… his back wasn't well.

He turned his head to the screeching black demon and narrowed his eyes at the unexpected development. "His eyes have turned green…."

It was as though Beelzebub's green flames filled the demon's eyes. But that was not the case, as the demon's eyes weren't on fire: their color changed.

Those eyes became like a green mirror in which Beelzebub noticed the soul of the demon.

A man in seemingly his late twenties was questioning his purpose of existence as the green flames gnawed on his soul, rendering his bloodline useless. For a second, David believed that his flames had hurt only the fragment of the soul, which was encased in the projection of the black dog… but upon a closer look, that was not the case.

His skill had extended its punishment to the real body of the demon imprisoned in the depths of the chasm.
