The only light illuminating the dining hall was coming from the candle that was placed on the dining table between Lucian and Seraphina. Former's ocean blue eyes were fixed on the latter as he waited to hear her answer.
But Seraphina wasn't prepared for the question in the slightest. So, she did took a while to process the question and her thoughts. She took three more sips of the wine before she finally spoke, "Marriage is something I never really put much thought into. During my mortal life, I was living a life that didn't allow me to trust a man enough to make him my life partner. That's why I was quite taken aback when the council told me that I needed to get married to four strangers. But after meeting you four, I'm not that skeptical anymore."
"Why so?" Lucian asked as he kept his gaze fixed on her. Surprisingly, he wasn't making her feel intimated under his gaze.
