Chapter 12 - The Morning Embarrassment

As her gaze landed on the four men, Seraphina realized that Mortimer was not the only one who looked different from the night before.

Unlike the cloaks they all were wearing during the ceremony, the men were dressed quite nicely this morning. Lucian was dressed in a silk light-blue shirt with white trousers. The first few buttons of his shirt were left open, allowing her a peek of his alluring collarbone. He had folded his sleeves, allowing lower half of his veiny arms to be visible. His long silver hair was pulled up in a tight bun with several loose strands falling around his handsome face.

Raven was dressed in a black t-shirt that was hugging his well-built body way too perfectly. His tight trousers made his legs appear extra long. His shoulder length hair was still a mess of beautiful curls.

Arwan was also wearing white and his hair was still styled the way like the night before. As for Ethan, he was the one who was dressed like he was about to attend some fashion show. A beige colored satin shirt, black pants, lots of jewelry and perfectly combed hair. It was like the man knew he was extremely handsome and wanted to keep reminding others of the same.

Seeing how well they all were dressed and recalling her current state of appearance, to say that Seraphina was overtaken by the feeling of embarrassment and wanted to just disappear into thin air, would be an understatement. Knowing that not only one, but all four of them saw her in her current messy state, made her feel horrified.

"Dear future-wife, you have... unique taste. I wasn't expecting you to find such a way to get our attention the first thing in the morning." Kethan spoke again with that same usual glow in his eyes that said he was enjoying the moment.

Seraphina clutched the hem of her night shirt tightly with her fingers as she looked away from the fourth Shadow Lord. Unfortunately, her gaze landed on Raven, and looking at the expression on his face, she was able to read his thoughts very clearly which were questioning her current appearance.

She knew that her cheeks and ears were already bright red in embarrassment and it only made her more self-conscious.

"My Lady?"

Her attention returned to Mortimer when she heard him calling her. "I just told you that I'm cleaning my room. I can't handle staying in that dirty place. Just give me a bucket of water and a mop." She quickly told the butler.

Mortimer looked hesitant for a moment before he quickly nodded his head. "You can return to your room, My Lady. I will bring the water and the mop there immediately."

Feeling relieved to be able to flee from there, Seraphina gave a quick nod of her head in agreement before she turned around, and without looking in the direction of the four Lords, she hurried out of the dining hall.

"Why is she cleaning the room on her own?" Lucian's calm, but powerful, voice filled the dining hall as his gaze shifted to Mortimer.

"I was planning to clean her room after serving you all breakfast. I didn't know that Lady Winters will start cleaning the room on her own as soon as she will wake up. I will go and help her now." Mortimer quickly explained.

Lucian gave a single nod of his head in acknowledgement before he turned his attention toward his cup of tea. Right at that moment, Seraphina once again walked into the dining hall, pulling his attention toward her only to find her looking straight at him. He was quite taken aback to suddenly found himself looking straight into her dazzling purple eyes.

"I might need some furniture for my room. I saw that the other ooms on my floor have the things that I might need. Can I shift them into my room?" Her question was directed at Lucian and not even for once did she look at the other three.

Stopping himself from clearing his throat he slowly nodded his head in approval. "You can take whatever you want." He added and watched as the softest of smiles touched her lips.

"Thank you." She said in that sweet voice of hers before she turned around and left the dining hall. Mortimer also followed behind her, leaving the four of them alone.

Kethan let out a long sigh before he spoke out loud to no one in particular. "And suddenly, the three of us don't exist for her anymore."

Lucian and Raven stayed silent, but Arwan reacted with a shake of his head before he added, "If you keep up with that attitude of yours, you might actually stop existing for her."

"Like I care." Kethan was quick to speak. "It's not like she's going to last here for many days."

"Maybe she will." Arwan's words pulled everyone's attention toward him.

"Why do you think so?" Ethan asked with a frown decorating his face.

Arwan shrugged his shoulders slightly as he answered, "I'm not sure. Maybe it's just a feeling, but looking at her, I can feel that she will turn out different from the others."

Kethan scoffed as if he didn't agree with Arwan's words, but the look of uncertainty that passed through his eyes for a fleeting moment was seen by the others. He turned his gaze at Lucian and asked in a serious voice, "Do you think she will survive till the second ceremony?"

Lucian was silent for a moment while all three pair of gazes remained fixed on him. A moment later, he finally responded - "We will find out soon."
