Chapter 5 - The church

Ben and I drove to a private hospital in Capetown. The receptionist attended both Ben and me then led us to ward 9,Room C where my father was laying.

"Oh my God, I thought I had lost you. What happened?" I cried.

My father smiled, "I'm fine that's all that matters, Can I speak to Ben alone please my darling it won't be long"

I protested inside my heart but I chose to respect my father's wish. "You good old mate?" Ben asked.

I walked out of the room, leaving the two men to their own privacy.

15 minutes later Ben left my father's room. He dared not to cry even though he had tears in his eyes.

"Ben what's wrong?" I ask curiously.

"Nothing, Chris needs to rest, the nurse said he will get discharged tomorrow."

"Then I'm staying" I said

Ben looked at me with pity.

"ok then, I'm also staying, Chris is my closest friend and you have become like a daughter to me. I wont let you go through this alone. I am staying. No arguments"

"Can I trust you?" I asked.

"Of course"

I began to frown, tears came out slowly down my cheeks.

"Hey, what's wrong? Talk to me"

"I am scared, but you all need to know" I said.

"Know what? Know what, please Lebo know what?

I inserted my memory stick inside the laptop, then played the video I took earlier that morning.

"Is that Belinda, what is she? Oh my God" Ben yelled!

I also showed him the pictures of the items I found in Belinda's room.

"I don't know how to tell my father about this" I cried.

"Your father need's to see this"

I begged Ben not to confront Belinda or show my father the video, as we had to expose her in a wise manner.

The following day, my father was discharged from the hospital, both Ben and I were happy to have him back. When we arrived at the house we found no trace of Belinda. Her wardrobe was empty, she had packed all her clothing and left. Guilt could have caused her to leave so sudden, I thought.

I showed my father the video as well as the images I took while I was in Belinda's room. My father was shocked.

Church is a wonderful place when you enjoy meeting with other congregates, but it can be distressing when you feel as if you are not welcomed and prejudiced by the same congregates you wish could treat you normally. I was raised by a church going woman, who never missed a service. My mother loved church, more than I did, she devoted her life serving God ,more than I did, well at least that was the Sunday lecture I received from the priest whenever I missed church the previous week. experienced vivid dreams, that came true most of the time. When I told my mother about my experience, she would ululated and thanked God for blessing me with prophetic gift's, she would often tease me by calling me a "Sangoma" whenever I was wearing braids on my head. I would protest and say "I am not a Sangoma!" with a high pitch voice .

Five years had passed since I had last attended church .I missed it terribly it. I then remembered a YouTube video of young adults stating that they dealt with their depression from attending online prayer sessions, suddenly I had an idea. I searched for churches operating online, there were many on the list, but one out of them all attracted me, It was named the United Angels of God Church,UAGC. The logo was of high quality, the preacher's seemed noble, the miracle's were without count.

I went through their Facebook page often, hoping to get an inspirational message but all that was posted daily, were the countless miracle's the church was offering, it was as if miracle's were trending more than the word of God. A follower Susan Gcina, posted that two weeks after the pastor had prayed over her painful headache to stop, which immediately did manage to stop aching, she began hearing voices in her left ear and her eyes also began to roll uncontrollably. Another follower claimed the same, within ten minutes twenty followers had claimed to have had a similar experience. I felt worried, concerned I needed to find the truth behind the ordeal. As I was conducting my research on the church, my father knocked on my bedroom door, he had returned back from a boutique to get his measurements done as he wanted to own another fine tailored blazer.

"Hello skaat, you seem quite busy what are you working on?" he asked

"There's a church named the United Angels Of God church operating only with no physical branch. A couple of followers have claimed to have been filled with demonic spirit's by the priest who says he will assist them by giving them miracle's." I said

"I know that Church, the GOH has been investigating it"

My father went to his office then returned with an investigative file against the church.

"It says here that the church is led by three siblings whose names are Issac,Tony and Mashiah Kirwo"

"Are they South African citizen's?

"Yes, but for now we don't have enough information to close down the church just yet." Said my father.

"oh ok,can I help?"

"No, It's too risky, you need more training"

My father would not allow me to take on any missions, this of course made me mad. I couldn't stand being underestimated. I had to find a way to prove myself.

I was expecting the GOH to contact me regarding any new case to solve as I had been promised work as soon as I had finished my training. I think all the graduates felt the same way . To clear my head from the stress of waiting, I went out shopping.

While I was cooking dinner, I heard the doorbell ring, I opened the door only to find that it was Mika.

"HI "he said. Before I could respond I pulled him into the house, then pinned him to the wall with my right arm."How did you find me, tell me!" I yelled.

"I am not here to fight, I have something to tell you"

"First tell me how you found me"

"Ok I followed you around today I tried calling out for you but it seemed you couldn't hear me, I continued to follow you till I saw you entering the yard.

Seeing the desperation in his eyes for air, I let him go. He took heavy breaths before he was ready to speak.

"I did go shopping today, I did hear someone calling me from behind but I refused to look back, as I grew up being taught that witches steal people for body parts using that method, you hear a person calling you from behind or at night, when you look to answer then you see no one, if it happens the second time, you're gone forever"

"So why are you here?"

"There is new information from a source that might get us real cases to solve. Apparently the GOH is looking to hire it's previous student's in July, a month away from now for a case that has come up.

"What! Were going to become guardians, oh my God, Mika were going to become guardians!!"I screamed with joy.

I grabbed Mika and gave him a kiss on the cheeks, from the joy I felt.

"I am glad you are happy, but the only way we could ever become guardians is if we win our first case and in order to win a case you need to be given a real case to solve "he said, with a frown.

"Lets wait for a week, perhaps they will call us,ok"

"What are you doing on Saturday"

"I don't know I don't have plans yet,why?"I asked

"I want you to come eat dinner at my place, it's nothing really just old friends hanging out, please say yes."

I giggled. We hadn't even know each other that long but he was referring to me as his old friend.

"that's kind of funny, the way you said it.i don't know I will have to first check my schedule and get back to you" I replied.

Mika frown a little bit,"alright I'll wait for your call then, here's my card" he said.

We parted ways. When I entered the house I immediately went straight to the shower, I had to freshen up. I didn't put much thought in going out on a dinner with Mika, we were still getting to know each other as friends. My father didn't like it when I visited Mika.

"Boy's will destroy your focus "he would say.

His words were starting to irritate me, I decided to move out in order to live freely. My father was petrified and I felt free.

Ben and I drove to a private hospital in Capetown. The receptionist attended both Ben and me then led us to ward 9,Room C where my father was laying.

"what do we do now?" Ben asked.

"we wait, I need to find out how many people she has hurt and how far has she gone. More testimonies means enough witnesses for me to open a case against her."

"I can see that you will make a smart agent one day. Tell me what you need"

"for you to keep your promise and be less aggressive" I said.

Ben nodded.

The following day, my father was discharged from the hospital, both Ben and I were happy to have him back. When we arrived at the house we found no trace of Belinda. Her wardrobe was empty, she had packed all her clothing and left. Guilt could have caused her to leave so sudden, I thought.

"She was so devoted to here. The woman worked for me for a full five years and not even once had she poured poison in my food. Why?"He said, feeling confused.

His confusion turned to hate, he became furious with himself for not being able to see through the woman she thought to be good than evil.

"Thank God you survived, what if she had managed to kill you, my one and only daughter." My father cried bitterly. I won't stop searching for that woman, when I do find her, I will show no mercy. I will kill her then I will burn when she has burned to ashes, I will keep the ashes in my office in case she reincarnates then I will kill her once more! "he said, angrily. I had never seen my father in that condition before. Belinda might have escaped but we were sure to have our vengeance.
