Eva looked at the interviewer in front of her. She had never seen any image of the CEO of Aweseong Corporation, however, most CEOs had no time to interview their applicants unless it was something very crucial. However, taking a look at the man before her, Eva sensed that he was actually listening to instructions through the earpiece.
Immediately, she knew this man wasn't the CEO and the CEO was definitely the one communicating with him, and she was being watched right now.
Eva looked around slowly in search of any cameras, not making it obvious.
She spotted one at the top right of the wall she was facing. Knowing that the interviewer was waiting for her response, she swallowed and sat upright. Her ocean-blue eyes were now fixed on the man sitting in front of her who had brown eyes and a small squeeze on his brows.
"Ms. Lee?"
"I can't say."
Leon seemed interested in hearing her. He just couldn't accept her answer as simple as it was. Even his boss had to tell him to delay the topic. He wondered why but since his boss wanted to know, he wasn't too bothered and was also interested.
He studied the woman's CV and also had to research her. He had to research every interviewee to ensure that he didn't exhaust his inadequate time on unsuitable ones. Of course, he knew the company she worked at.
"I think we are done here, then," Leon replied and stood up, to unbuckle the lie detector around her but Eva quickly announced,
"Is that all?"
"Of course it is. I think there is a more suitable list of applicants and we can pick the best out of them already."
"But, sir..."
"Ms Lee, I hope you know that your answer to my question has doubled your chance to zero, excluding the scores initially deducted from coming late."
If Leon wasn't testing the young woman right before him, he wouldn't bother to tell the woman why he was done with the interview. But because he wasn't actually done and was curious about what the woman would say, he slowed in his action.
"I will answer your questions, now, sir. I am sorry for any inconvenience."
Leon walked back to his seat and then leaned on the desk. He was quite amazed that she didn't dress like other women were expected to dress. She was on a casual purple top and then leather trousers.
Most female workers he knew on their interview days dressed corporate, even on their first few months of serving as employees. After a while, they changed to their normal attire which was always seductive, and ended up getting the sack letter.
Though she wasn't dressing seductively, her body made it look like she was. Her dyed hair which was a sparkling purple and red mixture made her look sophisticated and at the same time, charming.
With all these that he had mentioned, Leon wasn't sure she would get the job. His boss hates women like such, perhaps, it was a reason he was giving her a hard time and would end up not deciding to give her the job.
Well, the result was crystal clear but still, Leon was curious. He also credited how sensitive she was and how composed she remained even after he told her that she wasn't getting the job.
"I will ask again, Ms. Lee. Why were you fired from WILANDTECH?"
Eva on the other hand had already given up on getting the job. Merely looking at the man sitting right here in front of her, she could tell that he didn't have it in mind to choose her for the job. She sighed, inwardly and calculated quickly.
She had spent almost two years in WILANDTECH and as well as become part of them, however, things didn't end up as planned. Just because she was trying to get a new job, she wasn't going to go against the principles she had learnt.
What if he asks her for some confidential information about WILANDTECH? Would she open her mouth and pour out like rushing water from the tap?
"Mr..." She paused, staring at him and waiting for him to complete his name.
"Chan."
"Mr. Chan," Eva started. "I believe every company has something confidential that isn't supposed to be shared too. The issue regarding my being sacked is confidential.
"Meaning if you get to be part of the organisation, you still have a share of your interest towards WILANDTECH?"
"Not exac-"
"How nice," Leon responded. "Just by the look on your face, I can tell the reason you were fired."
Eva waited patiently, she didn't want to give away but was this man joking with her? How could he tell?
By the way, he was now being informal.
Wait…how could it be obvious from her appearance that she got sacked because she refused to have a sexual relationship with the MD of her former workplace? Was it written on her face?
"However can you tell, Mr. Chan?"
"It is visible that you are clearly mistaking 'confidential matters' with 'personal matters'." Leon leaned further while Eva instinctively pulled backwards in a complete frown.
"What do you mean, sir?"
"You are either sacked because you refused an advance or you reduced an advance. It's the same option."
Eva refused the urge to blink and she swallowed. She was once reminded of the lie detector with her so she did her best to ensure that she didn't quicken her heartbeat. She had heard most people could go against the lie detector without getting caught if they were trained. She wasn't but well, her first training just began.
"I do not think that would be a reason an employee is fired from an organisation. There could be a thousand reasons."
"A female employee," Leon rectified, "However, I wonder why out of the thousand reasons there could be, you insist on only a reason- confidential matters, how is this organisation going to trust a person who doesn't put his trust in her?"
"Still, Mr Chan, it is highly impossible to think that way."
"And now, I am convinced that it is."
"What? Why?" Eva was taken aback.
"The fact you keep insisting against that reason tells all. It is actually the reason."
"It's not. It is confidential, however, the other part of the reason I was fired was because of failure incompetence," Eva lied.
"Failure incompetence? Interesting," Leon acknowledged, however, he was caught short by his boss who seemed tired of the question and was asking another.
"Ms Lee..."
"Sir."
"If you get employed and find out that our organisation is involved in illegal means, what would you do?"
