Chapter 123 - War for Death (3)

As soon as the words fell, Kage sped beneath Gan's guard, thrusting his fist upward into the brunt of the monster's jaw. Yet the only sensation felt was akin to smashing one's hand against a rock. The attack which he had hoped would jolt his opponent's brain left only a dull pain to resonate in his own body.

This realization became apparent to Gan as well when his teeth twisted to a maleficent grin, relishing the subtle ring that paraded his ear canal. His grin grew only to be met by a swift resistance in its spread as a subsequent fist crashed against his cheek. This time the attack wasn't registered by his vision; the speed was too great for him to comprehend. Pain, which was without impact bloomed greater, forcing a drop of blood from the boy's nose.

However, before he could seek restitution for the transgression, a third came faster than the rest. Gan's head twisted to the left, stumbling a few steps back as the rest of him began to understand this recently discovered speed. A scent perforated the air while the shadows grew more immense. Sickly twirls of blood rooted corpses swung limply as the tipped spears of needles thrashed them to pieces.

An aura was in the process of finality. Kage's aura.

While Gan stumbled, Kage slid between his legs landing a kick to the right knee, which had been slashed earlier. Although the outer wound healed, the poison buried within weakened the bone which gave Kage's kick a boost in power than imagined possible. The joint slid with the bone as the foot impacted the center of this region. Therefore, causing a slippage in the area, resulting in Gan once more on his knees with a cloud swirling 'thump'.

With no time to lose, Kage jumped from the ground, twirling in the air to land a solitary kick into the monster's temple. His leg swept through the winds of the ocean smearing them along the length of his calve which exploded in immense strength. The flat of his foot smacked the other, wrenching them headfirst into the concrete, smattering a spider's web crack in the surface.

Such was the attack that any regular human would surely have had their head decapitated by the force exerted, only to land somewhere a street over as nothing more than a deflated soccer ball. This would be the case for any other but Gan, as his head still stood, undefeated and with an enraged glare set into its pupils.

On solid ground again, Kage dashed forward to set the other back into its rightful place yet was caught by a swipe of the person's backhand. It shot with a crushing weight launching the boy several feet into the air then to the floor, smoking the room in splinters of stone. Kage's ribs, on his right side, ached from the hit, so sure was he of his speed that a fault produced from his failure.

Gan could read him despite the lack of knowledge in his new fighting style. Their experiences together bled this recognition too deep for either one to acknowledge yet instinctually used to overcome each other.

As Kage ran toward Gan, he saw similarities in the pattern of his attacks. Kage always rotated his movements to keep his opponent guessing, thus would almost never use the same foot, hand, or finger in a subsequent motion. However, this only made his attacks all the more predictable, at least to Gan who witnessed such a stylistic presence even in this unknown format. When Kage came within a yard of his collapsed form he displayed an emphasis upon the right foot again, but Gan knew to duck the left as it shot without a bit of hesitation. From there, he simply batted the boy away as his stigmatized movement left open his ribs for a brief stint of punishment.

Flopping from the earth, Kage made an effort to not display the harm caused upon him from a simple strike. An effort which proved unneeded as Gan didn't care. The momentum finally came back to him after all.

Leaving no seconds untraveled, the monster burst from the cloud, his own fist smashing apart the afterimage in the past position where Kage once lay. He had wrenched his back far forward in advance of the coming death throttle that the bones in his spine suffered a minor fracture that sought to terrorize across his frame.

'A matter which can be diverged from, for now.'

Scooting from the clutched palms of his opponent, Kage took up his open-handed approach as he did moments ago. This did not seem to worry Gan as he plowed through the sight. A fist aimed with no opportunity to escape came pushing forth to steal away the life in Kage's eyes. Holding this certainty, Gan was remiss to see his own force routed away as the other used his right palm to slide off the motion. Afterwards, a preceding response echoed from this action which flung Kage's left palm into the brunt of Gan's face. A single strand streaked across the blow wiping the monster's face in his own gruel.

He shook off the strike, responding in the only way he knew how. A second strangling grip was wrestled away once more as Kage maintained his distance from Gan. In-between lunges, he landed another jab at Gan's hip with his leg nearly crippling him in the process. This motion of redirecting attacks occurred without end as Gan only found rough air in his palms each time.

Anger plumed into unrestrained rage which manifested in the harsh presence exerted by his aura, which now peeled speckles of steel and concrete up from the earth around them. Concave slashes reached out licking at Kage's body to steal his essence. They were much faster than any thought could be given to a reaction of any sort, thus he was simply forced to bear with them. Attention alerted to the micromovements exhibited by his opponent stole anything he could possibly restrain. One solitary mistake would spell his end otherwise.

With each curtail of a death-defying move came Kage's palm launching into the vital organs possessed by the monster or sent to rattle his cranium. All the while his movements stayed consistent, serving to design small cracks into Gan's core, with each new one stacking to a noticeable difference in his once assured victory. Ye, as Kage continued chipping away at his defenses, Gan only grew faster.

The monster swung its fists with a fervor that sent winds drawing blood from his cheeks, torso, and arms. Although with dimming vision that soon turned the world a hazy graze of grassy green, the boy knew the path toward his undoubtable triumph. If he kept throwing fists, striking out with his feet, then twisting his shoulders, the other will grow limp in will. He will be dashed to shreds. A method which bore fruit as Kage made his first miscalculation.

Kage felt the pressure below as an uppercut came his way, brushing the attack to the side an immense explosion of heat expanded the air around him. Gan's body irradiated burning flames that steamed off of his muscles washing Kage into their terrible might, sweating his body to a messy sight of splotched stains. Proceeding the strike, Gan's left leg, held aloft high above his shoulders, came crashing to the world below, nearly smushing Kage's head beneath its weight. It too was caught in Kage's hands as the appendage brushed close enough to swipe a bloody streak down the right side of his body splotching the floor in its crimson.

The onslaught rocketed with a roar from his right as the monster's flat palm burned apart oxygen, tearing through the threads of Kage's lustrous mane but lacking it was, in finding the owner. Now, without worry, Kage crouched beneath the grapple sending two successive jabs into a kidney that pronounced further destruction into the monster's eclipsing form. Coming up behind Gan's exposed left shoulder, the glimmer in his opponent's eye was the only source for devastating pain.

He hopped into the sky straining the power in his bicep and shoulder to deliver a ceremonious prize to the other. The punch crunched with a grating noise into a low-hanging chin that now bent in the opposite direction, launching Gan to the floor upon his spine. A cry of unused energy leaked between his lips as Kage dashed on top of the figure grappling the thighs with his own then an arm as well.

Over the course of their engagement, Gan's body tired considerably with deep wounds festering leaving much of his strength now regulated to his arms and core. Thus, this grapple allowed Kage to contain the foul beast.

Only a single arm remained for either to strike the other but with Gan's fallen state there wouldn't be much he could do to maintain his momentous punches or kicks. Speed was no longer his friend in this ruckus battle.

Busting open Gan's lip, Kage serviced the boy with never ending blows that progressed his mug to a shade of smattered rose. His knuckles split as they fell upon his opponent, the bone weakened as it nearly shattered apart when strained so much against a stone like this one. Kage essentially pounded his form against a solid boulder hoping to crack it in half. Such was the endeavor that it was imagined hopeless by most, yet the subtle cracks were formed and now they had expanded to where he could peer into them gracing the end in sight.

"JUST FUCKING DIE!"

'CRACK!' Gan's head split against the concrete floor as a particularly well-rounded fist smacked his forehead. The dislodging of Kage's middle knuckle resulted in opening a jagged hole in the rear of the other's skull.

His efforts were bearing fruit.

Yet a sheen enveloped Gan's crooked face when the rupture of his skull occurred. A maddening happiness took place, coveting the look malformed by his mangled expression. Stripped away skin to showcase the gaunt skeleton of his facial muscles, shattered teeth strewn about the floor, then a nose broken off from its home to the point where it no longer belonged; all of this sent shivers down Kage's spine as they upturned to a maniacal smile.

No time allotted itself for Kage to react as Gan's unused fist crashed into his side. Only when Kage felt himself jolted into the sky did he realize how Gan had redirected the muscles from the rest of his body into the single arm. A damning proposal which could have left the poison to overtake him in mere moments if not precisely contained. It was then that Kage realized he would not be allowed to land back onto solid ground without an effort.

Gan jumped to the same height as him, the ground now stricken in his footprints while the concrete shattered around them. There, the strength from his left shot into his right giving Kage only time enough to place his own arm as resistance to the assault. Due to feeling only a numbing call from the appendage he could solely watch as the monster's fist blew away the bone.

The punch pushed upon Kage's forearm, sundering the cloth with the heat alone which bubbled the flesh in its place. From there, the knuckles melted into the arm, dislodging the bone with a splintering rupture which saw it pushing out from its socket then through the other end. However, the bone did not come in a single piece as the power sent shockwaves all throughout the frame of Kage's body. All along his left arm, fragments of shrapnel erupted from their position shooting across the other side of the guarded frame. They carved themselves into Kage's face as well as neck with droplets decorating their rampage as they left to lands unfounded.

He crumpled on the concrete floor rolling twice then stopping as his legs finally ceased his tumble. Kage briefly checked his composition, grimacing at the arm which now hung limp without purpose. Its ragged state gave no use to his hand either as it too went low, holding no ability to adjust itself. The lack of feeling was the sole thanks he gave at the new status he found the limb. Meanwhile, the rest of his figure wasn't any better with long stretches of cut flesh sliced into crevices of bone that slowed his movements even further. That then left his torso which although having gone under less pressure, was bloodied and bruised as a sweeping splotch of inner goodness stole the blue cloth into a dampened patch. Clutching his side, Kage swore with rasping hate which blossomed into petals as spittle became the same as that side of his.

Inner organs almost certainly ruptured, a lame left arm, as well as several spots of internal bleeding bore a solemn future of the impending fight.

"Fucking bastard." Seething swirls ached into the muttered words which were barely captured by Gan.

"Basth-ard!? You call me a Basth-ard?" The dyed curls in Gan's hair swooped down into mired bangs blocking the light from his now dented forehead. Roots of brown could be seen demonstrating a need for another coloring. It was the first time since they've met that Kage saw Gan's real hair color.

Gan slowly labored himself into a standing position. The countless hits to his thigh manifested, making the limb a drag on the rest of his perfect form. Only two ugly messes stole attention from the almost impenetrable figure. The first being the mashed mouth he possessed that demonstrated an array of guiled expressions, the least not being the common lisp found in his speech. While the second lay in the leg chocked full of leaking splotches and jagged stabs that transformed the supporting structure to one of unnecessary purpose. They were not the only places he hurt as his sides ached in a groaning desire for rest with Kage's several jabs to his kidneys then lungs proving effective in containing the monster.

"YOU! I ADMIRED YOU! We were brothersth! Then you fucking took that brath th-AUGGHH!" Gan pushed both hands into the floor as an extremely vile expenditure of fluid built to the ceiling of his mouth, caking the floor in its green tint. He shook with chills as the poison circulated his system nearing their end on the soon to be corpse.

Wiping the vomit from his split lip, Gan cringed in pain. He stared dead center into the pots of red within Kage's vision, challenging their torment. "I'LL FUCKING TAKE YOU WIFF ME!" Either hand stroked the ground, grasping to something taken too fast for Kage to process.

"AUGGHHHHHHH!" Gan bellowed as the biceps in his arms strained with a severe momentum that left veins exploding in tension. Only then did Kage see the concrete slab stuck between his hands, ready to be lobbed from the floor then on top of him. A second was all it took for Kage to understand Gan's threat however it only took Gan half that time to enact it.
