Billowing breezes blew out the last of the cold sickness and transpired an early summer heat welcomed by all except Kage who felt his hair become a tad too long for the conditions.
A pondering thought forced on him by Daniel warranting a change in style where the strands were scissored to a shorter placement. The sides shaved and the top unable to reach his eyes but above.
A style now pruned by the use of hair treatments forcing it into a collapsed windblown version. With this stylish removal of the old came the same to his contacts and makeup. He tossed them away ready for the exchange of glances from his peers. The looks were disgusting at first but soon melted into boredom. Afterall, the school was more focused with recent trends rather than some low ranking Evolved's haircut.
For the first time, Kage began to harbor a love for his lack of presence in the student body.
Maintaining concern over the opinion of strangers was the least of Kage's daunting tasks. That would come the following day. The day that had been planned and meticulously plotted by him and Daniel.
Outfits were arranged as well as having cologne sneaked into their closets. A smell that certainly caught the notice of a nose but in a moment of weakness had been prescribed by Daniel.
Staring at the glass of the dispenser, its outside read, "Nyn Night's Lovely Spring," with the researcher turned pop-icon on the front making a stoic gesture pouting his lips outright to an array of flower petals. Kage had reluctantly taken it with little time allotted for a greater choice. He was left to decide on a moment's notice with reassurances from Daniel on the subject.
Kage dabbed a bit in his pits then dressed in the cleanest most ironed clothes imaginable in his inventory. It had been with immense difficulty, their cleanliness, as he spent hours washing them the day before. This hassle was one that snapped Lisa awake to eye Kage in his cussing attempt to retain a sense of stylishness that was unbecoming of his usual self. She saved several of the photos that depicted his state. She was so entranced by his work she forgot to inquire into the reasoning behind his efforts.
Buttoning the powder blue shirt, he simultaneously lifted a leg through the pant to a pair of matching dockers. Covering the shirt to preserve its cleanliness was a lightweight ruby red jacket sewn by hand with his name embroidered in the sleeve, a relic of the distant past from a nosy preacher.
The chocolates were deep in his bag, sealed inside of an airtight plastic container protecting them so that they could not fall nor lose their taste during his travel to the Academy. At first, he attempted to make his own uniquely tasting batch but found after half a dozen experiments on Lisa that it was not his forte.
He checked, double checked, then triple checked just in case the other two times his sight played tricks on him. These days such occurrences became unnervingly common for him. Sometimes it appeared as items moved on their own despite his memory detailing otherwise.
Throwing the contemplation away, Kage stomped on his shoes, exiting his room at the far end of the hall.
On the way out he spotted Claire in the kitchen dressed in an apron and already cooking pancakes for the little ones. Her hair was caught back into a tail while her breasts tented the thin cloth of the apron. What lay beneath aroused his imagination almost as much as the potential to the pancakes. The food smelled scrumptious and would undoubtedly conjure a satisfying delight to his taste buds. But there was no time for such things today. He must be on his way because class was close to beginning, leaving him late for the day if he gave into his desires.
The dog of course yipped and yapped jumping to push its front paws into his shirt. Dover always needed a scratch behind the ear before it relented on its attack for loves from its Master.
By the door stood Lisa, groggily awake rubbing her eyes to get them opening faster. Her face was caked in filth with snot dripping from her nose. "I know you can stay up later but that you should at least be getting ready soon for class. Make sure to shower, don't want you looking a mess." Kage leapt out the door into the warmth of the sunny day with no clouds in sight. It was a spectacle he never felt as glad to bathe in.
'Today will be a good day.'
He hopped away to some cheery tune, in all possibility belonging to another theme from Chopin.
Thus, Lisa remained in the apartment shaken to the core by Kage's words.
Moments relinquished with her still stuck there, a break in logic plaguing her mind. First, her attention peered out the window watching as Kage braved the storm while his feet splashed into puddles as if he was a fool himself. Shadows stole the world away as she dashed to the bathroom mirror examining herself only to find her skin recently washed as well as her hair dried, placed into a bun. She rolled her eyes to Kage's sink, a lone drawer with its own mirror shattered to bits, the pieces since trashed into a bucket lost in time.
Her hand trembled as it opened the cabinet. Gazing inside, Lisa gasped. Several prescription bottles rolled out, all of them empty without a remnant to their names.
Lisa juggled the items dancing her sight across each name. She had to be wrong. She must, otherwise, the monster never truly left.
It was hidden, and that was all.
Near the ceiling, Lisa's scrutiny was snatched by the period which gagged her throat from speaking.
It was 5:00 am. Two hours before classes began.
