Several months have passed and life has been going great for me, it was close to spring vacation so she has been extra busy these few days with school and whatnot. She has offered to tutor me but I declined, school is definitely at the bottom of my list of worries right now.
I lay on her bed, facing the ceiling while she studied on her old wooden desk. Music was playing from her computer and small gusts of wind made their way through the cracks of her bedroom window now and then. It was a relaxing feeling until it wasn't when I remembered I had a training session with Genji tonight. I groaned in frustration, getting up from the bed.
Hanako looked at me "What's up?" She smiled warmly at me. I smiled back, walking towards her and petting her head "I have to go, some business in my home world, see ya' " I waved and disappeared. I hated leaving her, but training and getting stronger will help me protect her better whenever she's in trouble so I'd say this is a good investment of my time.
I arrive at an abandoned battlefield, where I and Genji were supposed to meet. He once told me that this very place once was the battlefield of the war between angels and demons in the ancient past. Now, it's abandoned and forgotten by everyone. I'd say it's a perfect place to train.
I saw him leaning against a broken wall, eyes closed with his hands tucked in the pockets of his trousers "Genji! You alive?" I yelled with a teasing grin on my face. His eyes fluttered open and his hands escaped his pockets "Ryu! Perfect timing!" He smiled, coldly. The training shortly began and so did his complaining. "Your combative abilities are slowly getting rusty Ryu, what happened?" He asked me. We were sparring, as usual, to warm our bodies.
He was going a little too easy on me but I could feel his strength starting to show throughout our battle. "What do you mean?" I questioned with a puzzled look on me. "Something is telling me that you've been quite busy back in the human world." He threw a punch at me and I avoided it swiftly. He grunted and launched forward at me again, making me jump back to avoid his hits. He's not in a good mood and his power is starting to prove that.
"I don't know what you're talking about Genji," I spoke between inhales and exhales. He suddenly stopped attacking me and stood straight, glaring at me with a mixture of pain and anger in his yellow eyes. I used my wings to land perfectly on the ground and his stare at me only grew stronger. "What's wrong? Bored of your job already?" I chuckled nervously. He doesn't react and instead runs at the speed of sound towards me to grab my collar aggressively, his eyes started to glow terrifyingly and his fangs were exposed. "Don't play dumb" I looked into his eyes and gulped loudly "You disappointed me" I slowly began to realize what he was trying to say, and I began to panic, he knows.
My eyes widened as he quickly spoke, letting go of my collar and letting me fall to the ground. His attitude quickly changed and it was starting to worry me. I quickly got up expecting him to launch himself forward at me for another hit and he does, this time I failed to dodge it.
His fist hit my jaw, making me fly across the arena. My body lands on a wall and I slowly open my eyes, seeing him right in front of me, shit. He grabs me by the color before I got a chance to react and throws me across the battlefield to the other side. My wings failed to save me and I land on the ground, scratching my entire face.
He teleports near me and grabbed me, pulling me up to his face "Why would you feel the need to do this Ryu? I had faith in you" he spoke with sadness in his eyes. I'm not sure if he's being genuine or sarcastic but I needed to get out of here before I could find out.
My head started to bleed and my eyes glowed brighter with rage. "You have no idea about what goes on in her life" I coughed a bit of blood before continuing "If you were in my place... I'm sure you would have done the same." He lets go of me and I land on my knees in front of him, not a good look if you ask me. "I don't have to know" he paused, " I thought highly of you." I glared at him, getting ready to attack "How brave did you have to be to make this decision, knowing about its countless consequences?"
He stood in front of me folding his arms and I took the opportunity to strike his chest, I missed. He disappeared instantly, causing me to fall, and my face met the ground once again, this is getting annoying.
"You think a low ranker like you could even touch me?" He spoke pridefully. His last words have made it clear to me, this guy has officially lost his mind. His attacks only grew stronger as the loop of him throwing me around and me trying to attack him continues. I finally land on my knees, all the leftover energy leaving my body. Every bone in my body ached, but he kept going. He walked towards me, tucking his hands in his pockets.
He looked unharmed, untouched while I sat there watching him march slowly toward me and I accepted my fate. He stopped once he reached me and bent down to my level "You remind me of my youth, Ryu. So naive and careless" he spoke in a raspy whisper "I remember those days, when I was too deep inside my imagination, in my little world" he walked around me like I was the last chair in a game of musical chairs, causing my head to spin. "H-how? How did you even... Know about this?" I muttered. He chuckled and stood in front of me once again "You think you can hide things like this from me? You didn't even try to conceal it"
My eyes grow wide at his words "No...I-" "That day when we met on the rooftop, I watched you with her, I watched you everywhere you went" I couldn't help but feel a shiver go down my spine as I stared at him. The dark red sky of the demon realm only complemented his already terrifying gaze and looks. "You foolish demon," he said before kicking my face with his foot, almost breaking my jaw.
My eyes teared up from the pain and my muscles gave out as I lay on the cold hard ground, unable to move.
