Chapter 14 - Worth of Slaves

Why am I having a bad feeling about this? Why are my hands shaking? Why aren't my feet moving? There's a crowd gathered in the middle of the canteen, surrounding something. Norman has just arrived and is staring at the crowd. Looking listless, he starts moving. His steps are slow for some reason, but he pushes the crowd and forces his way to the center of things.

What he sees leaves him petrified where he stands. A girl is lying on the floor, her clothes seem to be torn by someone, there are marks of forceful abuse on her body, and blood is flowing from her head. From how much blood she's lost, he can already see that the person lying on the floor is dead.

As turmoil goes through his head, he hears muttering from the crowd. "Why did she jump from the top floor?" "Can't you see she was violated?" "Isn't she the area who tried to escape with Norman?" An elderly slave reminds them, "Learn from this. The moment we become a slave, our fate is a slave. The earlier you understand this, the better it is."

Hearing this, all the slaves become silent. Norman takes steps towards the aria. Yes, the person lying on the floor is Aria. He comes closer to her and touches her body. It's cold, a cold that seals all hopes of saving her in vain. Norman caresses her face slowly. Seeing the bruise on Aria's face, his heart can't help but tremble.

Suddenly there are sounds of footsteps from behind Norman. "What's happening here? Why are all of you making a fuss?" a voice calls out. Hearing this voice, all the slaves panic because the person is none other than Ken the Fatty. The elder who reprimanded the slaves before comes and explains things to Ken.

"What? Who dared to touch my product?" he shouts and calls the guards over to find the perpetrators. After that, he walks towards Aria and Norman. "What a fine slave she was, but she was ungrateful. She didn't even repay me for the life I bestowed upon her. What an ungrateful wench!" Ken says before deciding to take his leave.

The slaves are reminded once again that their lives are worth nothing more than a few coins. But there is a slave who doesn't care about that at all. He has rage inside his eyes, an eye that can send even a legendary hero chills.

"Ken!" Norman shouts and dashes towards Ken, who was leaving. He pounces on him, ready to tear him apart. But before he can do that, he finds himself moving backward. No, he's flying towards the wall with frightening speed, then he crashes into the wall.

Blood starts leaking out of his mouth. A few ribs have broken, but he doesn't care about that. He turns to look at Ken, who has resumed his walk.

"Magic! Why didn't I think of this?" he says, realizing his mistake.

Soon he loses consciousness.
