Chapter 1 - The Outbreak

Jack woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside his window. He stretched his arms and yawned, feeling the warmth of the sun on his skin. It was a beautiful day, just like any other day in the small town of Millfield.

But as Jack got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, he noticed that something was off. His neighbor's dog, usually barking at this hour, was strangely silent. He looked out the window and saw that the streets were empty, devoid of any human activity. No cars were passing by, no one was walking their dog, no kids were playing outside.

Feeling uneasy, Jack turned on the TV to find out what was going on. The news anchor's voice was panicked as she reported the first cases of a new virus spreading rapidly across the country. They called it the "zombie virus" – a disease that turned people into mindless, flesh-eating monsters.

Jack couldn't believe it. It sounded like something out of a horror movie. He quickly checked his phone to see if he had any messages from his family or friends, but the lines were jammed. Panic set in as he realized he was completely cut off from the rest of the world.

He decided to gather some supplies and head to the nearest police station, hoping to find some answers and maybe even some help. As he walked down the street, he saw the first signs of the outbreak – a woman stumbling towards him, her eyes bloodshot and her skin pale. She moaned and reached out to him with arms outstretched.

Jack backed away slowly, his heart pounding in his chest. He had seen enough zombie movies to know that this woman was not human anymore. He turned around and ran as fast as he could, not daring to look back.

He arrived at the police station out of breath, his muscles burning with exertion. The building was surrounded by a crowd of zombies, but they seemed to be too focused on the doors to notice him. Jack snuck around the back of the building, looking for a way in.

He found an unlocked window and climbed inside, landing on the cold concrete floor. The inside of the station was chaos – desks overturned, papers scattered everywhere, and blood stains on the walls. But there was no one there – no officers, no survivors, no weapons.

Jack's hopes of finding help were crushed. He was alone, in the middle of a zombie outbreak, with no one to turn to. He knew he had to find a way to survive and make his way to safety, but the road ahead seemed long and perilous.

As Jack made his way out of the police station, he heard the sound of moaning coming from outside. He peered through a crack in the door and saw a group of zombies stumbling towards him, drawn by the noise of his entry.

With no time to spare, Jack took a deep breath and ran towards the back exit, hoping to find some way out of the town. He knew he had to keep moving, to stay one step ahead of the zombies, if he wanted to survive.
