" Eat ice cream", she replied excitedly.
I smiled, her reply was so childlike. Probably because she was a child.
" So what flavor do you want so we can place the order and it would be delivered quickly to us".
Cassie frowned and folded her arms." I want to go to an ice cream parlor, outside where I can eat my ice cream"
" Alright princess, whatever you want", I replied warmly not bothering to ask why exactly just as long as she was happy. " So what flavor do you love most"
" Chocolate with a lot of sprinkles", she shrieked excitedly.
"Alright down, let's get going before that chocolate ice cream goes away". I replied. "Let me just grab my purse okay".
The moment I concluded my last sentence, I realized I had probably made a mistake by raising Cassie's hopes when I had no money on me. I didn't even have a freaking purse on me.
I sighed and looked at Cassie trying my best to look calm but I know one thing for sure, I couldn't hide my embarrassment.
"Um Cassie sweetie, I can't find my purse, perhaps we can go another day".
I fiddled with my fingers waiting for her reaction.
What she did next surprised me. She smiled and ran to her drawer. She immediately brought out the biggest piggy bank I had probably ever seen in my life.
She emptied the contents revealing bundles of dollar notes.
This child was freaking richer than me, a capable 23-year-old woman.
God, I needed to get my life back.
"See no problem, Ivan always gives me money every day, especially the days he can't join me on ice cream and has loads of work".
I felt bad immediately after her statement, Ivan probably never had her time, so she barely went outside. This instantly changed my mind about not collecting the money due to my pride and all. But I will buy all the ice cream she wants of course I won't buy it for myself, but I still had my dignity to keep.
" Alright mi lady, let's go have that ice cream", I said causing the deepest smile I had ever since in a human being spread across her face.
***
I smiled patiently at Cassie as she scooped one of her multiple ice creams into her mouth.
She had earlier bothered me to have one but I lied to her I had an allergic to ice cream.
Which was a lie because I loved ice cream more than pizza.
I turned to see our driver standing beside the car like a statue. I had forgotten earlier I was married to a billionaire. When we were about to go out the driver approached us to take us out insisting it was his job, especially being not only a driver but Cassie's bodyguard. As much as I wanted to say no, I couldn't because I didn't even have a car or money to even hire a cab.
I looked back at Cassie and smiled as she scraped her 4th cup of ice cream.
I looked at my wristwatch, realizing it was getting quite late. It was almost 7 pm.
As soon as Cassie finished her fourth ice cream, I said to her, "Cassie it's already getting late and we need to get home because your brother will be worried but don't worry you can carry the last ice cream and eat on the way".
She nodded her head and happily stood up and jogged to the car with me following close behind.
On our way home which for some reason felt long, Cassie fell asleep which was weird because she was supposed to be hyperactive or having a sugar rush or something from all the sugar from the multiple ice cream she took.
I felt my cheeks redden when she etched closer to me and snuggled herself. I didn't even know when my arms covered her but I do know it felt good.
We arrived back at the mansion in twenty minutes and I carried Cassie along with the ice cream she hadn't finished yet.
I looked in surprise as I realized Ivan's car was packed, he was back already.
I wanted to knock on the door but the driver, Solomon opened it and scurried away.
When I entered there was utmost silence, it was too silent.
Suddenly a voice spoke out, "Where have you been and why are you coming back late"
I turned around to see Ivan and wanted to reply when he immediately approached me and collected Cassie from me.
"Don't you ever take Cassie out especially without my permission because you don't even know how to handle a child", he said to me angrily.
I wanted to say sorry but I stood with my tongue tied and hurt by Ivan's words what he said last hurt me more.
"And don't you ever come close to Cassie, she doesn't need all this bad energy coming from a woman like you"
I wanted to cry at Ivan's words but I turned around and walked past him to only God knows where because I didn't even know my room. All I just wanted to do was get away from Ivan.
I guess Ivan was right, maybe I was a bad energy.
