Chereads / KIYA: The New Melimandu / Chapter 25 - POSSESSION

Chapter 25 - POSSESSION

Few years ago, a great fight broke between two powerful mortals Goonlah of the Aryahku land and The Shaman of the same land. It was the fight for the great white horn, who won took full possession of the Horn.

The fight took place in the great Gyu Hills Forest of Aryahku, when the notorious Goonlah took some of his men with him into the forest to brutally take the horn which was under the protection of the Shaman Chohu who lives in the great Shrine of the land (Ref-Chapter 11: The Witness). Aliya and her Mom were the two witnesses of that fight, they saw the fight to a great extend until a great wave overtook them and teleport them out of the forest without them witnessing the last blow of the fight.

After Chohu used an unusual technic to defeat Goonlah, He picked the Horn from the ground where Goonlah dropped it. He held it carefully in his hand and headed into the cave where his shrine is build. He was victorious as always, he had a streak no one could break; the streak of a victor, for Chohu was a very powerful man until Goonlah outsmarted him. After Chohu gave Goonlah the final blow, Goonlah fell on his knees, weak and broken. He bowed his head in defeat, dragging his last chunks of breaths. He raised his head to look into the eyes of his enemy, even though too difficult but he gestured with his hand begging Chohu to come closer to him as if he needed to whisper something into his ear. Chohu let down his guard and actually moved his head closer to Goolah's mouth, but before Chohu could think of anything, Goonlah held grip of the talisman around Chohu's neck. Chohu freaked out by that move broke free from Goonlah, but unbeknown to him, Goonlah has already used the talisman to transport his energy into Chohu without the Shaman realizing.

Goonlah planted himself inside of the great Shaman and like a virus continued to grow until he got hold of Chohu's mind by first corrupting his energy before taking over his mind completely. Since then, the person who has been posing as the great Shaman of Aryahku, was nothing but an imposter.

From the heavenly places up above Earth realm, the council of the great zodiac gods watched in amazement but not off guard as two mortals yet again stand toe to toe against each other for the sake of the Horn. For Zibeh, all he wanted was to protect his daughter but for Goonlah, ah, he would destroy the whole world just be in full possession of that raw undulating pulsating power he once felt.

He drew his weapon ready to destroy Zibeh, but, he knew clearly that even his opponent is not a joke. Zibeh descended from a bloodline strong and powerful, known for their strength and marksmanship. Zibeh aimed his dagger at Goonlah's chest; he fostered a great strength and then released the dagger from the tip of his fingers. The dagger flew like a rocket, tearing apart the wind that dared to stand on its way to Goonlah, but Zibeh's eyes almost dropped out of their socket in shock when he saw Goonlah charging toward the speeding dagger too. Like in the speed of light, Goonlah raised his right hand to defend himself from the dagger, while at the same time used his left hand to launched a surprise attack to Zibeh.

Zibeh saw himself flying in the air against a huge tree close to the shrine cave. Before he could think of anything, he felt his whole body hit the tree like a meteor against a planet. At first the whole world became black then back to normal, for the impact of the surprise attack was hard on him.

(Panting) "What the hell?" Zibeh murmured to himself.

Goonlah walked majestically toward his opponent, every step he took, he took with glory and strength. He flashed a sinister smile on his face and gently said to Zibeh, "Did you think you could beat me?" … "I do not need to beat you" Zibeh blurted, "I only need to destroy the body you are possessing and you are done."

"Ah… you really think you are a match to me?" Goonlah boasted, "I will shred you into tiny bits of meats and then, I will go after your daughter and pull every bit of that cosmic force inside of her until the great white horn becomes mine and if she survives it, I will make her my bride"

"You can do that only over my dead body" Zibeh affirmed.

"Oh, purrr… But that was the plan my friend, from the very beginning" Goonlah replied.

Zibeh said nothing back; He knew he could stand Goonlah but considering that the man in front of him is already a darkened power hungry soul full of desperation, his chance of winning might just be a little, but still, he managed to stand on his feet again, and readied himself for another round of fight.

Goonlah clinched his fists; he kept a menacing smile on his face. He summoned more dark energy into himself before charging against his opponent. Zibeh on the opposing side did not flitch a bit, he stood on his ground waiting for his opponent to reach him. In the rule of fight, the desperate fighter usually charges first, and the one that charges first is usually on the disadvantage, for his desperation hinders him from strategizing properly. In Goonlah's case, he was not only desperate but also full of himself, the confidence in his strength and the darkness within him fuels his arrogance and pride. Zibeh knew all these and so kept calm to win the fight.

When Goonlah got closer to Zibeh, he pulled his right hand backward to launch a heavy blow upon his opponent, Zibeh on the other hand shifted his right leg backward to prepare for the defense of his life. Goonlah launched a heavy punch on Zibeh but Zibeh blocked the punch with his left hand while using his right hand to land a heavy blow on Goonlah's left rips. Zibeh punched Goonlah four more times on the same spot. Goonlah quickly used his forehead to give Zibeh a devastating head-butt. Zibeh staggered backward like a man drunk with heavy beer, Goonlah on the other hand gave his opponent no space, he swiftly landed a heavy kick on Zibeh's chest using his right leg. For a brief moment, Zibeh went totally blank; he only felt his back against the rough forest ground. He touch his mouth to feel the warm blood coming out of it, he tried to pull himself up but found he couldn't, for Goonlah's attack on his chest went deeper than he thought. It was at that moment that for the second time, a terrible fear began to grow within Zibeh, his courage began to fail him, his will began to weaver, the hope of protecting his daughter began to fade away, and what more, standing right beside him, his darkened enemy, full of furry, desperation and an immeasurable hunger for power.

With a smile on his face Goonlah mocked, "For a man of your caliber Zibeh that was too easy."

Zibeh raised his head to look at the ridiculous man talking to him, he coughed out a little blood and answered, "You do not know anything about me."

"Oh but I do" Goonlah interjected, "Your story is an interesting one, I heard it so many times. You are the man who ran away from everything that is he to everything that is not. We all know the story."

Zibeh summoned all the strength he could to pull himself up, still feeling pains but not the kind that would pin him down not until he is completely death. He cleaned the blood stains on his lips, looked at Goonlah in the eyes and said, "That story was not the truth… you all heard it wrongly. And you were right, a man of my caliber should not be that easy to defeat, so let go another round again."

Seeing Zibeh on his feet again, hearing him talk back, his words, every bit of him roused darkness within Goonlah, the kind of darkness that would take hold of any man without mercy. Goonlah's body shook with anger; he clinched his fists so hard ready to finish everything that is left of Zibeh. He deliberately took some considerable steps back as if he wanted to go away, but had something else in mind. He fostered all the darkness he could get all the strength and like a missile lunched himself against Zibeh. The wind gave way for him, the earth shook with every step he took, but as he moved closer, ready to strike Zibeh, the space in front of him suddenly shifted, and before he could think of anything Zibeh could not be seen again. Something happened in a speed he could not comprehend, Too fast that he could not see it happen. He halted, first in confusion, then in awe. The anger in him grew even heavier and darker, he had Zibeh right in his hands, and he was going to annihilate the man and take away everything he ever loved, but alas, he missed his chance right when it was getting better. "Where the hell did you go?" he shouted in anger, "Come back you coward, you always run away fool." Goonlah gnashed his teeth in agony, he felt like blasting himself up, he fell on his knees… "I had him, I had him" he whispered.

Zibeh gently open his eyes to see himself in his home back in the village. It been hours since he went off into the void, no darkness, no light, only nothingness. He felt faint pains in his body still; he pulled himself out of the bed he was lying on. He looked around in awe, "How did I get here?" he asked himself. He stepped on the outside to check the environment, he needed to be sure Goonlah is not anywhere around. He decided to take another walk to the large tree he visited earlier on before the Gyuhills forest fight. He still looked around while moving closer to the tree, suddenly he heard a beautiful tantalizing voice behind him, the voice of a woman singing a beautiful melody, he quickly turned to look and there stood a woman like the incarnation of beauty itself. A goddess, tall and curvy but not chubby, her skin like the smoothest honey, her complexion dark brown like chocolate. He dreadlocks cascaded to her shoulders, her eyes as dark as the darkness of the void, she wore a beautiful African style goddess attire; she stood right on sight with an amazing smile. Zibeh could not help but gulp saliva through his now dried trough… "Who are you?" he asked. She did not answer him or say anything at all, instead she walked majestically a bit closer to him, she reached to his cheeks with both of her palms and simply answered, "I am Utaya."

Zibeh could not believe his eyes, he could not also refrain himself from feeling awesome about the whole "I am Utaya" surprise. He looked at her and said, "But you are a goddess, how are you in human form?" She replied and said, "I am not the kind of gods that need human bodies to walk the earth, I am more of an Elemental. To fulfill our duty to the Almighty undivided, we used our hands to build the very Earth you stand upon, we are one with our handy works, and to take a human form is a no big deal to me." Zibeh smiled at Utaya's words and said, "You saved me from Goonlah." "Yes" she answered without thinking twice. Zibeh checked her still from head to toe and said, "I must confess that even in your human body you look so more than human, you are still a goddess." Utaya smiled and replied, "Well, I must confess your ignorance sweeps me of my feet all the time. What you do not know is that here on this realm, nothing can be greater than the Human that you look down upon, for up to now, you have not yet truly become human, you still wallow in your base level, Food, Power and Wealth is all you care about, that, my mortal friend is not being human." Utaya's word racks Zibeh's comprehension even though he concurred with her. He sighed faintly and asked, "Why are you here with us in this form?" She replied, "I am here to help you protect the young woman chosen by the gods to serve as the new Melimandu, and also to protect this land against a dark desperate force."

"You mean Goonlah?" Zibeh asked.

"Yes and many more that would do anything just to be in possession of that cosmic power." She answered.

Zibeh and Utaya spoke some more before she left him. Zibeh Chuckled, "gods" he said, "they come from thin air and disappear into thin air, just like that. Hope to see you soon Utaya."

In the night, Zibeh sat In a meditation posture meditating, whispering a mantra of connection with his higher self. He kept four bright burning candles in front of him each representing the four elements. While chanting the mantra, a bright tongue of fire appeared close to his forehead and from the fire came out twelve strange runic symbols, aligned in a certain systematic manner, all hovering over his head. Zibeh seem to not notice the tongue of fire and runic symbols because his eyes were shot tight. But someone else saw the tongue of fire and the runic symbols, someone far in the forest, sitting also in a meditation position; Goonlah smiled and whispered in a sinister voice, "I can see you." The moment he said that, the physical body of the Shaman he was possessing fell to the ground lifeless.
