Chapter 4 - Chapter4

#Chapter4

I let out a sharp breath as I drop to my seat with my tray.

/"Don't tell me you guys did not see what happened in the que./" I let out.

/"You mean all the students falling?/"

/"They literally flew out of the line!/" I exclaimed.

/"Really?/" Hanna raised an eyebrow. /"What we saw seemed more like they pushed each other out of the line because they were fighting for their turn to take food./" She shrugs and Jenna nods in agreement.

I let out a sigh. So that's what everyone saw.

/"I don't blame them, if I was as angry as they were. I would probably kick everyone out of the line if I could./" Jenna shrugs while typing on her phone.

I sighed. /"If only you guys saw what really happened./" I muttered while staring at my tray of food. It's only the brunette girl with long beautiful hair and short that only saw what I saw.

/"Anyways, Calvin just texted me that we are going on a date tonight./" Jenna says staring at her phone with a wide dreamy grin on her face. Calvin is in another school and plays in the football team. Jenna and Calvin have been dating for a year now. Jake also played in the football team but when the two schools are challenging each other in the football field, Jenna ditches me to support her boyfriend. Hanna used to find it hard which team to support when that happens so she decided on switching teams everytime the two schools face which other. That does mean Jake and Calvin are not cool with each other. Jake was at first until Calvin kept teasing and getting on Jake's nerves so Jake lose his patient to the point they both almost fought during their match on the field. They have been rivals for almost a year. Probably three months after Calvin and Jenna started dating. But Jake still takes Jena and Hanna as his friends as I qoute /"they are nothing to do with his jerked ass behaviour/" his words not mine.

She suddenly turned to me with wide eyes. /"Oh! I'm deeply sorry I shouldn't have brought him up./"

I smiled weakly. /"It's cool. Doesn't mean just because my boyfriend.....is you know....late, you shouldn't be able to talk about yours when I'm around./" I shrugged.

Hanna sighs. She puts her hand on my shoulder. /"We should go shopping after school./"

I immediately shook my head. /"Nope. No, no. I just want to go back home. Thank you very much!/"

/"Come on Eris, don't you want to atleast help Jenna look breath taking for her date?/"

I sighed. /"What type of friend am I if I don't want that?/"

/"So is that a yes?/" Jenna asked.

I nodded. /"Yeah./" I sighed.

/"No worries it will take your mind of everything./"

****

/"Are you guys done yet?/"

/"Oh my gosh! I can't believe you're not having as much fun as we are./" Hanna groans. /"You use to love shopping so much! What happened?/" She whines.

I rolled my eyes. /"Maybe I'm just tired. And I like the fact that you used the words /"use to/". Because it seems like I don't anymore. Plus Jenna picked a dress for her date almost an hour ago. Mum would be worried where am I?/"

/"Okay, chill!! We are going now. Didn't you text your Mum that we are going shopping?/"

I folded my arms. /"I thought you guys knew my Mum./"

/"I mean your Dad./" She corrected.

/"Well, I did that's why I said Mum. She wouldn't be as pleased as Dad is./"

They both groaned. /"Plus we have homework to complete remember?/" I raised an eyebrow.

/"You're such a mood spoiler!!/" Jenna whines.

I chuckled. /"Can we go now?/"

Hanna walks pass me. /"You could win a case./" She mutters. /"Let's just go and pay for this./"

Yeah, Jenna and Hanna came from a rich home, they are one of the richest kids at school but they are not the type to rub it on others. They love their lives being just ordinary like everyone else even though I told them many times that no one has an ordinary life, they just wouldn't get me.

****

Mum and Dad aren't back yet. They come back an hour before dinner. I sighed and dragged myself up the stairs to my room. I shut the door behind me and walked tiredly towards my bed before going face flat on the bed. I picked up my phone and turned it on, going to contacts, I dial Jake's number.

/"Hey there, thanks for calling, catch you once I'm done here./"

My eyes gets blurry. I sniffled and dialled his number again, going straight to voicemail again. A sob left my lips.

Why did you have to go Jake?

****

I got to my locker opened it. I am just left with one more class before break. I couldn't wait to get over school today again.

My locker was suddenly shut on my face but I didn't flinch surprising, all I did was shut my eyes, instinctively. I opened my eyes to see a girls hand on my locker. I sighed. You hardly find mean girls in this school or bullying. It's not so popular but there are fights that happens and they are bullying but it isn't as much as it used to be back in the days. And popular kids? Yeah those are mostly the kids who interact and socialize with almond everyone. Jake was one of those popular kids.

/"Are we all seriously going to act like we have no idea what happened on her birthday party?!?/" The familiar voice of Cindy's sassy attitude hits my ears.

Cindy has always had a crush on Jake and has been trying her shot on him ever since even though I told her a million times to stay away from him but she would just laugh that off and not taking me seriously. Jake has rejected her for God knows how many times. But girl never gives up nor accept rejection.

I rolled my eyes before turning to fully face her. Yeah, her slamming her hand on my locker made enough noise to grab attention. I glared at her.

/"Just walk away Cindy./" I said sternly.

She chuckles with her friends behind her. /"Really Eris? You want me to also act like nothing happened??/"

She must be the last person talking right now besides the fact that she didn't attend his funeral. She's just craving for attention. I concluded in my mind. Typical Cindy.

/"Can you look for attention somewhere else? I'm not in the best mood right now./" I said trying my best to stay calm.

She folds her arms. /"I heard you didn't have anything to say to the police. How is that when you were the last person we saw him with? Mm?/"

/"Can you just leave?/" I demanded.

Jenna and Hanna suddenly popped out of the circle while I continued glaring wholes into Cindy's face.

/"What's going on here?/" Hanna asks staring between Cindy and I.

/"Cindy decided to search for trouble at the wrong place./" I replied not talking my eyes of Cindy. If only glares could kill.

/"Don't you have something to confess to everyone Eris?/" Cindy speaks out.

I continuously glares silently at her. Is she trying to blame me for his death? Is she insanely crazy? /"You have no freaking idea how close Jake and I was./" I said.

/"Is it just me or something smells like it's burning./" Hanna mutters besides me.

/"What?/" It felt like I was suddenly knocked from a daze. I sniffed the air and Hanna is right. Something does smells like it's burning.

Jenna suddenly gasps. /"We have to get out of here now./" She whispers in my ear. I turned to her with a look of confusion written all over my face.

/"What's going on here?!?/" We heard a voice. /"Everyone back to class immediately!!/"

The circle once created immediately disappears as everyone rushes to class while Jenna drags me to a completely different direction with Hanna following closely behind.

/"Where are we going?/" I asked her. She ignores me. Few seconds later we got to the girls toilet and we all got in. Hanna shutting it behind her.

Jenna finally let's go of my hand and turns to me with horror on her face. /"What? What's wrong?/" I asked her.

She quickly walks closer to me and pulled out my right hand but winced and let's go of my hand as quick as possible. I stared at her confused as hell.

/"Jen are you okay?/" Hanna asks rushing over to her. I slowly turned to my right hand, rising it up enough to stare at. My hands starts to tremble as I saw black ashes on my right hand.

/"Eris, Eris's hand had a little fire back then. I even thought you were holding some matches or something. How.... how did that happen? How were you not feeling the burn?/" She started to freak out.

/"Yeah, I remember something burning? Was it really Eris?/" Jenna asks.

/"Yes it was./" Hanna still seemed panicked.

I stare at my hand a little longer. I let out a chuckle. /"No it can't be. It's definitely not possible./" I said turning towards them.

/"Eris, what's wrong? What's happening to you? Does.... does it have anything to do with....with Jake's death??/"

My eyes widen and I felt heat on my hand. Jenna and Hanna both gasp in horror. /"Don't...Don't say that!!/" I yelled. My eyes caught sight of flames coming from my hands. I stare at my hands shocked. My hands where both on fire.

/"Hanna..../" Jenna calls.

/"Jenna..../" Hanna calls.

/"Are you seeing what I'm seeing right now?/" Jenna asked.

/"Eris... Eris hands are on fire..../" Hanna gulps. Their voices were both trembling.

/"Eris....are....are you feeling any bur-/"

I blacked out.

****

I slowly opened my eyes only to meet pink bright lights. My room light hanging on the ceiling.

/"Do you think we should have taken her to the hospital? She's not waking up./"

/"Ugh! Maybe we should have. If she doesn't wake up in the next thirty minutes we should./"

/"She...she actually had flames on her hands./"

/"She must have been more shocked than us./"

I tried standing up but I groaned from the pain in my head.

/"You're awake!!/" Jenna yells. I groaned again. I tried looking at them but still felt dizzy. /"My head hurts./" I groaned yet again.

/"Yeah you did hit your head pretty hard./" Hanna says while nodding.

/"I'll go get some painkillers in your kitchen./" Jenna says while getting up.

I hold my head in place with my hands. /"What happened?/" I asked Hanna once Jenna left. Everything feels fuzzy.

/"You don't remember?/" She asked shocked. I shook my head. I shook my head.

/"I think because of the headache./" I replied.

Jenna soon comes back with a bottle of water and painkillers. /"Eris doesn't remember what happened?/" She interprets to Jenna.

/"What? Really Eris?/"

I nodded while taking the painkillers and bottle of water. /"You definitely should take this first before we explain./" Hanna says.

I swallowed the painkillers and immediately drank water to avoid it getting stuck on my throat or tasting the bitterness. After drinking water I turned to them, expectedly.

/"Can you explain now?/"

/"Well.....it's hard to believe./" Hanna says, looking at me with concern in her eyes.

/"Your hands Eris.....your hands literally made fire!/" Jenna exclaims.

I chuckled. /"Are you joking around right now?/" I chuckled again.

/"She's not joking Eris. Your hands did caught fire. We were even scared to take you to the school's nursery or the hospital not knowing if you'll make fire in front of them!/" Hanna explains, the serious shock on her face tells me they weren't joking. I turned to my hands and stare at them. The event plays clearly in my mind. My hands had black ashes and once Hanna said something about them having to do with Jake's death, they immediately flared up with fire! Am....am I okay?

/"Are...are you suppose to be some super hero?/" Jenna asks breaking the silence.

/"Can ...can you guys please leave? I need a time alone./" I said while staring at my hands.

/"We understand, you do need to figure this out yourself first./" Hanna says.

/"Are you sure you're going to be okay alone?/" Jenna asks.

I turned to her and nodded. /"Just promise me, you guys won't say anything about this to anyone, not even your boyfriends./" I said to both of them. They both nodded with seriousness.

/"We promise./" They said in unison.

/"Keep your trust on us Eris./" Hanna says putting her hand on mine. I nodded at both of them.

/"I trust you guys./"
