Chapter 308 - Harassment

It seemed that not only did the women here take power, but they also happened to take men's bad traits, including not keeping their eyes to themselves.

"Hey gorgeous, how about spending a night with me!" One pretty lady yelled at him, catching him so off guard that he could only look towards her like she was a ghost.

"What? Never been complimented by a dame before? Then it's your lucky day!" She continued.

"Am I hearing things right?" Minos couldn't help but ask one of Tylia's guards seated next to him, the man only nodding back, trying his hardest to keep from laughing.

"Why are you ignoring me, pretty? Come have a seat next to me, I just want to talk to you." She kept shouting, the other women around her just laughing.

"What force are you from?" Minos suddenly asked, slightly confusing her for a second before she came back to.

"A Nux digger, huh? Sorry to disappoint you babe, but I don't belong to any forces, but don't worry, I'm more than strong enough to take care of you." She joked, once again causing the ladies around her to laugh uproariously.

"Really? Should have just said that from the start." Minos smiled, lifting his finger and flicking a nail-sized piece of Abyss Flame towards her.

The flame moved incredibly fast, and before she could even say a word, it latched onto her flesh, spreading rapidly.

With a flesh-curdling scream, she rolled fiercely against the earth, but the Abyss Flame wasn't something one could just get rid of casually.

Her rolling just made it spread faster, and in turn, her screams got quieter and quieter until the only noise left behind was the crackling of her remains.

With everything burned, the Abyss Flame finally vanished, leaving a scorched stain behind where she once was.

Normally Minos wouldn't kill over such a trivial thing, but he had used his Omniscient Eyes to scan her memory, and he was appalled by what he saw, so he decided to do the world a favor.

"It seems you ladies have gotten a bit too comfortable on this continent, don't you think?" Minos kept smiling, his eyes scanning the horrified crowd.

"Y-Y-Yes, you're right, it's our arrogance." One lady stuttered, her eyes still glued on the scorch stain.

"Was that really necessary?" Tylia couldn't help but whisper from the side, disliking the ladies actions, but not believing they deserved death.

"Trust me, she got what she deserved." Minos replied firmly, Tylia immediately trusting him instinctively, even though she didn't quite know why.

No one was stupid enough to stand up for this dead woman, so the rest of Minos's wait went by without any harassment, and soon enough it was time for the caravan to head off.

The next month passed in a flash with nothing unexpected on the way, most of the time spent chatting, and by chatting, it meant Tylia talking and Minos listening.

She was still very curious about the Cat Kingdom and wanted to know as much about it as possible before they arrived.

But as per usual, Minos didn't actually know much, so he had to string together the few pieces of knowledge had acquired into the past, just enough to trick her.

Fortunately, Tylia was quite scatter-brained, and it wasn't hard to change the conversation.

Dealing with the rest of her inquiries with a split mind, Minos was mostly interested in watching the sights.

The Divine Maiden Continent was somewhat similar to the Blue Line Continent in that the weather was quite warm.

However unlike the Blue Line Continent that had equal amounts of sun and rain, the Divine Maiden Continent was quite barren, the land dry and scorched.

There were vast plains here that spread for miles on end, and the land was mostly flat, without much to see.

As such, it got boring very fast, Minos eventually forced to go back to listening to Tylia talk endlessly.

"I can tell what you're thinking, the Divine Maiden Continent is pretty barren, but it wasn't always like this." Tylia said, finally attracting Minos's attention.

"Oh?"

"Back before it was known as the Divine Maiden Continent, this entire place used to be completely different."

"Unfortunately, the historic records from the time have been mostly lost to the eons, however legend says that this land was once called Wvrnock."

"Wvrnock?"

"Yep. What exactly that means is a mystery, but the place was completely different back then."

"How so?"

"No idea." Tylia giggled, black lines forming on Minos's forehead.

"Hey, don't look so gloomy. That time is a mystery to everyone, to even know the name is a privilege." Tylia said upon seeing Minos's face.

Ignoring her, Minos went back to watching the scenery, as plain as it was, but Tylia still didn't let up, constantly yapping in his ear.

With Tylia's constant chattering, Minos was relieved to finally see a vast fortress in the distance, tall walls spreading out beyond the eye's reach.

"We've finally arrived!" Tylia said excitedly, sticking her head out of the carriage window to get a better look.

As the carriage kept moving, it finally made its way past the fortress's front gate, a large militarized city held within it.

Everyone here seemed to be a soldier, well kitted with armor and weapons, as if ready to fight at the drop of the hat.

And just like the rest of the Divine Maiden Continent, the vast majority here was made up of women, men being an even rarer sight here then back when he had first arrived.

Soon enough, the carriage pulled up to a large building, but before they could leave, a few soldiers gathered around them, checking everyone one by one as they stepped off the carriage.

"This is common procedure, don't worry too much." Tylia said as the two stepped off, wanting to warn Minos beforehand.

Nodding, Minos just waited patiently as his turn arrived, but rather than frisking him immediately like she did with the others, she looked him up and down.

"Cat person?" The soldier asked with an attitude, as if ready to fight.

"That's right. Is that a problem?" Minos asked, looking down at her with his slitted pupils as his Heart Path secretly magnified her fear.

"N-No problem." She stuttered, suddenly feeling an overwhelming dread wash over her, instantly extinguishing the flame in her heart.

As a border soldier, she regularly faced beast people, even fighting them sometimes, hence she had bad blood with any she came across.

But Minos gave her a different feeling, one completely unlike those savage beast people, one much more noble and distinguished.

"Good." Minos replied, joining Tylia and the others as the guard kept watching his back for a second longer.

Leaving the carriage behind, their group walked through the city for a bit, Minos constantly having eyes on his back, no doubt to do with his identity, but he ignored it as he usually did.

"These soldiers typically face beast people, so try and excuse their staring." Tylia whispered, not wanting Minos to do anything stupid.

"Don't worry, I'm not so impulsive."

"Good, then let's grab a bite first before getting a carriage. We probably won't have a chance to eat proper food for a long time to come otherwise."

Nodding, the group arrived at a small restaurant, Minos once again flooded by looks from all directions.

"Hey, we don't like your type around here! Go back to the jungle you came from!" One soldier shouted, instigating the others around her.

"Yeah, you damn tree-climbers, you aren't welcome here!"

"Filthy beast scum!"

"Ignore them, they don't mean it." Tylia begged, not wanting any problems.

"Like I said, I'm not so easy to anger." Minos replied, turning his focus to the women shouting slurs at him.

Some of these words he hadn't even heard about before, but it didn't take a genius to know they must be bad.

Extending his Heart Path, he decided to use the same tactic as before, using overwhelming fear to silence them.

Once again this technique didn't fail him, and with fear overtaking their hearts, they quickly went silent.

Enjoying their meal quickly, the group didn't spend a single second longer in this place, soon arriving at their next caravan.

Once again purchasing the best tickets available, the group was lucky to arrive just as another caravan was setting off.

Like that, they finally entered the Thousand Forest Continent, which fortunately was mostly boarded by people who didn't have the same hatred towards beast people.
