"No thank you's necessary, this is for all of us, after all, I'd miss you guys too." Minos joked, causing everyone to laugh along with him.
"So what did you want to test?" Tinka asked joyfully, more than happy to take part in Minos's experiment.
"I want to help too!" Rinka shouted.
"Alright, well you can both help. I just need you to hold onto that while I head off. I want to check how far the signal can travel."
"Signal? Okay." Tinka said, having long since learned about such things during all her classes.
With the two in place, Minos found his horse before mounting it and heading off, keeping a close eye on the device while he did so.
By the time he reached Underwood City, the signal was still going strong, so he traveled even farther.
It was only after a full day of traveling, did the signal finally weaken, before the screen eventually was reduced to a chaotic gray, the signal being completely disconnected.
Counting the distance, Minos must have traveled at least 200 kilometers or so, but considering the massive size of the Alephora continent, it wasn't enough.
It was hard to say exactly how many signal towers he would need in total, but just based on a quick estimate, he guessed around 100.
While the material for the signal towers weren't that pricey, it was still impractical to build 100 of these things across the continent, to mention if something was to happen to one, the entire system would be shut down.
The less he needed to build, the better, so Minos quickly headed back home, finally getting back just as the sun began rising again.
Dismounting his exhausted horse, Minos fed and rested it before heading off back to the signal tower, giving it another inspection to see where he could improve.
Looking at the massive tower that was about five meters tall, Minos couldn't help but rub his chin, realizing that its size was also impractical.
Such a big tower in the middle of nowhere was basically begging for trouble, and Minos doubted they could stand for long before something or someone tore them down.
The problem was that the size of the tower was directly linked to how strong Minos could make the signal strength, so he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
He could either choose to make the towers more discrete but weaker, therefore less likely to encounter trouble, or he could double down and just increase the size even more.
Neither choice was satisfying, so Minos headed back to his cave and sat on his chair as he connected to his puppets and got to work with his split souls to try and create something better.
As each puppet was seated at its own desk, writing away Minos thoughts, Minos had his eyes shut, going through his repertoire of information about the Lukalu people's technology in hopes of finding inspiration.
Reaching down to scratch his chest, Minos suddenly felt something tucked away underneath his robe, causing his eyes to suddenly fling open.
Reaching in, Minos pulled out the thin sheet of paper, revealing the signal talisman he always had on his body just in case.
"How could I have been so stupid!" Minos couldn't help but exclaim outloud before tucking the talisman back away.
He had become so obsessed and preoccupied with the Lukalu's peoples technology, that he had completely abandoned humanities wisdom, the usage of Nux!
Thinking about it, Minos realized that the two systems seemed to operate on completely different fields.
While human technology utilized Nux, the Lukalu people tended to avoid it, only really using it as an energy source for the most part.
With that in mind, Minos decided to separate these two fields under different titles, so it would be easier working with them.
After a little thought, Minos decided to call Nux Tech Immortal Technology, whereas Lukalu Tech would be classified as Mortal Technology.
This wasn't because Immortal Technology was better then Mortal Technology, but rather because MInos noticed that the Lukalu people's technology didn't actually require one to be a cultivator.
Even a mortal, if smart enough, could recreate all the technology of the Lukalu people, creating things comparable to cultivator's without having any of the strength to go along with it.
Meanwhile, Immortal Technology was simply things that could only be accomplished by cultivators, abilities that were untouchable by mortals, hence the name.
In a way, low-level talismans could also be classified as 'Mortal Technology' since they didn't actually require a cultivator to create, but from the Inner Heaven Realm and upwards, that was no longer the case.
Pretty much all 'Immortal Technology' was cut off at the Inner Heaven Realm, which is why a lot of cultivators didn't even consider those who could only create low-level talisman's, weapons, pills, etc, as real, but rather, just amateurs.
Of course, that was all irrelevant at the moment, and what was the most important was how to meld these two worlds together and possibly create something even greater!
Minos had long since noticed that the Signal Talisman could work from incredible distances, of course the logic behind it was still a mystery to him, but the fact remained.
However even then, how to have a Signal Talisman and his communication device transfer information between one another was a challenge of incredible proportions.
If Minos didn't even know how the Signal Talisman sent out its 'signal' then connecting these two would be a pipe-dream.
Not to mention the Signal Talisman was a one-time use, so he also had to figure out a way to give it as many uses as possible.
It was clear he was in for a lot of work, but the challenge excited him, so with sparkling eyes, Minos and his puppets got to work creating Signal Talisman's and testing them out, trying to figure out the intricacies behind how they worked.
'Signal Talisman Test 01 - It seems the Signal Talisman is capable of resonating with Nux in a strange way, sending that resonance to its sibling talisman causing it to trigger.'
'Signal Talisman Test 08 - Initial thoughts were that it was the unique resonance that bonded Signal Talisman's together, but further testing seems to go against this assumption.'
'Signal Talisman Test 025 - Further testing points in the direction of blood, making it seem like it is the unique blood that is used to create the Signal Talisman that actually acts as the bond.'
'Signal Talisman Test 038 - Test 025 and 08 both seem wrong and right. The Signal Talisman is far more complicated than expected, betraying its 'low-level' classification.'
'Signal Talisman Test 050 - Blood, Nux Resonance, both actually work in unison, the blood acting as the 'rod,' whereas the Nux Resonance is the 'lightning!''
'Signal Talisman Test 062 - Signal Talisman's can only work when 'connected' properly, creating sibling talismans, otherwise their resonances won't align, but is there any way to avoid this 'connection' process?'
'Signal Talisman Test 074 - Using the DNA Extraction Pod, I can create completely identical blood samples, which when used to create Signal Talisman's, can immediately bond without having to go through the connection process!'
'Signal Talisman Test 088 - I've attempted to use the same method on higher level talisman's, but I've failed every time. It seems the replication process can only recreate the blood, but fails to replicate the Nux that inoculates it.'
'Signal Talisman Test 100 - Success! After a hundred attempts, I've managed to convert the Signal Talisman's Nux Resonances into a normal 'mortal' resonance that can connect with my communication device!'
Leaning back in his chair exhausted, Minos turned around, looking at the sun that had reached the middle of the sky.
His family had no idea that he had come back, still thinking that he was out testing the reach of his communication device, so he managed to spend the entire day working without any interference.
Fortunately, it paid off, and after only a dozen hours or so, Minos managed to do what he thought would be much harder.
This was just proof of how much he's improved over the years without even noticing. A challenge that may have taken him months in the past only took a single day!
Cleaning his desk, Minos got up with a stretch before heading out of the cave, basking in the sun for a moment before heading home.
While walking home, Minos began thinking about the distance of the Signal Talisman and how far it could effectively work from.
After saying hello to everybody, it seemed he had to head out again to figure this out, which meant he would have to waste another day traveling.
Remembering that he promised Ronkus that he'd have the cures ready in a week's time, he couldn't help but sigh, realizing even now, he still had a lot on his plate.
Clearing his thoughts, Minos opened the door to his house, finding the place empty, everyone off to finish their daily chores.
Minos immediately guessed where TInka was, so heading back out, he walked towards the school house he had created all those years ago.
Walking inside, Minos could help but secretly peek into the classes, watching as the students were gathered in front of his Teaching Bots as they absorbed the lessons fully.
Ever since he had introduced these, the tribe's entire atmosphere had changed, intelligence now being the most sought after attribute instead of strength.
Of course, even then, most of the tribe was simply too used to their way of life, so the class rooms were mostly filled with youth who were still flexible in their thinking.
Smiling at the sight for a moment, Minos headed upstairs, going towards the more advanced classes before finally finding the one room that only had a single student.
