Chapter 26 - Selling the machete

As Liam set up his little stall in the streets of the newbie village, the rest of the players were giving him strange looks wondering what he was doing. As soon as the big machete was shown everyone flocked over to take a look.

"Holy shit. It's a rare grade weapon."

"Damn I wish I was using two-handed swords. That things powerful."

"I might just change my class so I can use it."

The players were hanging around looking at the stats and commenting on the weapon but that was all. It seemed no one wanted to buy the item despite it being strong.

Liam didn't mind as he knew there would be some who are interested, the players here were just a bunch of rabble who seemed like they have nothing to do.

There were some players in the background contacting their friends or guild mates. Even though guilds aren't a thing in game yet, those lucky enough to be in the same Newbie Village seemed to group together.

"Hey boss, some guy at the village is selling a rare two-handed sword." One player close to Liam could be heard getting in touch with is 'boss' before he looked at Liam with a slight smirk, "He looks a bit dumb, should be able to get it for cheap."

The player finished communicating with his 'boss' before taking a few steps towards Liam before speaking with a slight demand in his tone.

"My boss want to buy the sword. He will pay 50 bronze for it." The guy named Despotic Bone had a smug smile on his face as if the transaction was a done deal.

"No deal." Liam didn't bother negotiating with him as he knew he was up to no good. If he could Despotic Bone would have stolen the weapon. The game only allows you to take others equipment if it has dropped on death or it has been traded, so since Liam technically still owns the item no one can take it from him.

Despotic Bone's face started twitching at the refusing before it turned anger.

"Now listen here my boss wants that weapon, so if you know wants good for you you better sell it to him."

"Minimum price is 75 silver." Liam didn't know how much a rare weapon can go for since its still early in the game, however he was stupid enough to thing that 50 bronze coins would cover it.

Despotic Bone became livid at hearing the price and decided to attack Liam instead. Too bad for him or he was just dumb enough to forget but there was no PVP until Tier 1. So when his attack landed nothing happened to Liam at all.

"Damn it!" After seeing his attack failed to get the result he wanted, Despotic Bone walked away slightly in a huff probably to contact his so called boss again.

"Haha, what an idiot! Did he really thing a rare grade weapon would go for so cheap."

"I know right, I would be embarrassed if i sold a rare for that price."

The crowd was laughing as even they thought it was ridiculous.

"Make way, make way."

It was at this moment that the crowd was parted and a small party of 3 came over. All three were males, and they walk with an aura of authority that noone could resist.

"Holy shit, they are from the Holy Dominion guild."

"What? Those big shots from Realms of Invidia?"

"Yeah them. Damn they must be here for the sword too."

The crowd was stirred. The three big shots were easily recognisable due yo their time in other MMO games.

"I'll buy the sword from you. How does 1 gold coin sound?" The guy in the middle was the one who spoke. He was a well built man, topping at roughly 6'4 in height, a chiseled face that look slightly rough with s scar down the left cheek. His name was Born Invincible, a seemingly arrogant name but his look just screamed dangerous.

"Sure that's fine." Liam agreed almost immediately as it was above the price he asked for but he wasn't about to lose some easy money.

"Excellent!" After saying that, Born Invincible sent a trade request and put 1 gold coin in the trade window, with Liam accepting and putting the sword in. Both checked and double checked to make sure everything was fine before pushing the trade through.

After the trade was finalised Born Invincible took his two teammates and left, neither of the two saying anything.

Liam looked at the party leaving briefly wondering how they even managed to get 1 gold so early on but then put it to the back of his mind as he didn't really care all that much. He looked at the in game clocked and saw that it was 11pm and decided that it was time to call it a night. Even though he was close to level ten he still had the wolf quest to finish so he felt it could wait till the next day.

Liam hit the logout button, but while it was in countdown he could hear the rage induced shout of someone coming from a bit further away.

"Where is the bastard selling the sword? How dare he refuse me!"

Just before the countdown hit zero Liam saw a fierce guy barrelling over to where his position is. The guy reached him only to watch as Liam disappeared in a small light show.
