Chapter 64 - Jacks powers

Adam picked Jack up and ran to the house. This greatly frightened Lilly as she thought something had happened to Jack and ran over straight away, leaving what she was cooking for lunch.

Lily: what going on? Jack okay? Jack, are you hurt?

Jack: Mommy, I'm fine. I told Papa about the pictures I could see, and he brought me here.

Adam: I think Jack has the same powers as me. I wondered why the full-speed growth didn't work, but he said it was a level-two plant.

Lily: what does that mean? Is he like you and your plant growth abilities?

Adam stopped for a second to think as he was just shocked by the revelation and hadn't been supposed to feel this far ahead.

As Adam, Lily and Jack sat down to process what had just happened, Adam realised the gravity of the situation. Jack's new ability to see the status window meant he had access to information about the farm. Adam knew he needed to be careful and considerate about what he shared with Jack going forward.

At the same time, Adam recognised the potential benefits of Jack's new ability. He could use it to teach Jack about the farm and show him how to care for the crops and animals more effectively. Additionally, Jack could help him keep track of the farm's productivity and finances.

Adam also knew that he needed to take steps to protect Jack's mental health. Being constantly bombarded with information could be overwhelming for a child, and he wanted to ensure that Jack didn't become too reliant on the status window.

Adam: Jack, I need to talk to you about what just happened.

Jack: What do you mean, Dad?

Adam: You can see the status window, the same one that I can see.

Jack: Oh, yeah. I saw it too.

Adam: Jack, this is a big deal. It means that you have the same powers that I do.

Jack: What kind of powers?

Adam: The ability to see things that others can't. The ability to sense danger before it happens. And the ability to protect those you care about.

Jack: That's cool, Dad. But what does it mean for me?

Adam: It means that you have a responsibility to use your powers for good. To help others and protect them from harm. But it also means that you have to be careful. Some dangers come with these powers.

Jack: Like what?

Adam: Like being targeted by people who want to use your powers for their gain. And like putting yourself in harm's way to protect others.

Jack: I understand, Dad. I'll be careful.

Adam: I know you will, son. And I'll be here to guide you along the way. We'll face these challenges together.

Adam and Lily put Jack to bed and discussed Jack's new abilities.

"I can't believe Jack can see the status window like I do," Adam said, shaking his head in disbelief.

"I know, it's incredible," Lily replied, looking at Adam with concern. "But we need to be careful. Jack is still young and doesn't fully understand the implications of what he can do."

"I know," Adam said, sighing. "We need to teach him how to use his abilities responsibly and not to misuse them."

"I agree," Lily said, nodding her head. "We also need to be cautious about who we tell about his abilities. We don't want anyone to take advantage of him."

Adam nodded in agreement. "We need to keep this between us until we figure out how to handle it."

Lily leaned in closer to Adam. "We'll figure it out together. We'll make sure Jack is safe and that his abilities are used for good."

Adam smiled and took Lily's hand. "Together," he said, grateful for his wife's support and partnership.

Adam took a long hot shower and processed the events of the day. As the hot water poured over him, Adam took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He let his mind wander as he processed everything that had happened that day.

The encounter with Daniel left him feeling sad and empathetic. He knew firsthand how difficult it was to run a farm, especially without a support system. And look after the family without his father

But the realisation that Jack could see the same status window that he could see had left him feeling uneasy. He knew that it was a gift, but it was also a burden. He worried about the dangers and responsibilities that came with it.

As he finished his shower and dried off, he resolved to keep a close eye on Jack and help him navigate his new abilities. He knew that he couldn't control the situation, but he could guide and support his son.
