Chereads / Shatter the Bad Ending! / Chapter 3 - Resolve

Chapter 3 - Resolve

Alright, I now have a goal, and the next thing I need is a plan.

The Academy sent us a bracelet inside the letter which acted as an identification but more importantly has a function that can show a holographic screen that works like a smartphone.

As I turned it on.

(Face Prompt)

Year: Freshman

Rank: 278th

Age: 17

Sex: M

Profession: (Will be available after selection ends)

Class: Honor Class

*********

One thing is for sure it seemed that I did things I do not remember prior to my transmigration.

From the contents of the letter, it said that I already underwent the entrance exam and did well?

But no such memories ever came to my mind.

The Honor Class.

My head started to hurt a little bit.

It is where the main character and most of the heroines will get placed onto.

But just how well did I perform on the entrance exam to get ranked 278th?

To get placed in such a prestigious class you would need to reach the rank of 300th above to get in.

Anyways, the problem is that I do not have any idea what to do when classes start.

There would be duels and practice classes which are impossible for a modern person like me to deal with.

The past me that I do not have memories off would do fine but me right now?

Just shoot me in the head.

On second thought actually don't.

But I have a plan and that is to obtain a hidden item.

I won't take any from the protagonist because he will definitely need them as there are arcs that without them he would die instantly.

Instead, I'll take one from the villains.

And that item would be important no, extremely crucial for me to obtain.

I opened the holographic screen in my bracelet once again.

In this godforsaken world, the currency is called Bells.

I cringed inwardly, bells?

That f*cking author must have thought, "I'll call it bells just to be unique, different, from the other novels,"

Anyways, currently, it seems that I have 57k Bells.

This won't even last me a full semester.

But that's a problem for another time.

It's enough though for me to prepare and gear up to grab the hidden item.

I hurriedly got out and proceeded to try to find my way out of the complex I was in.

Even though I hate this novel down to my guts, seeing the city that was described in the novel was completely breathtaking.

The culture shock was apparent on my face as I stood on the sidewalk, with my jaw open as I stare my widened eyes at the city.

The Skyscrapers that could reach the heavens, the hovering trains that easily broke the speed of sound.

High-tech cars with such elegant designs were hovering a few feet from the ground.

Does that pathetic author hate wheels or something?

I quickly composed myself and opened a map on my bracelet.

My first goal is to head to a shopping center.

To buy a weapon, potions and etc.

As much as amazing this world looks, I still don't want to live here.

Because of how dangerous it is,

That is also why humans here had to innovate and evolve quickly.

Survival is a great motivator after all.

Just like a generic novel.

There are monsters here.

Ranging from S to G.

With S being the highest and G the lowest.

They won't serve any problems to the Elves with amazing compatibility with magic.

The Shadowkind that can manipulate the dead to fight for them but not the monsters since they bore no soul.

The Orcs that are able to easily overpower and massacre them with aura.

And the Demons that can just control them.

What about humans in this world?

They don't have as much talent as the elves when it comes to magic.

Not much strength as the orcs, and certainly have no way to control the dead or the monsters.

The only thing that was going for them was their brain and so they had to rely on it and use it to extreme measures.

But thankfully, Humans, Elves, Orcs, and Shadowkind are on friendly terms.

The demons, on the other hand, all the other races are wary of them.

And honestly, I can't blame them, they are the only race that can weaponize the monsters.

After a few minutes of walking, I arrived at the shopping center thanks to the map.

"Hello, what would you like to buy?" An employee immediately came up to me to assist me as soon as I entered the store.

I had to compose myself because this is a novel, and all of the characters here were just.

Just beautiful honestly.

In my world, I called myself average but I think in this world I'm ugly?

"Hello, sir?"

I was snapped back to reality by the short-haired female employee.

"Oh, ah, can you kindly guide me to where the weapons are?"

"Certainly, sir,"

As we arrived at the weapons area.

There were shortswords, longswords, and bows.

I still quite find it funny that even in an advanced society there are still medieval weapons here.

Well on their own they are completely useless but with the help of aura, they can turn into much deadlier weapons than guns.

Oh, right guns.

My face instinctively made a frown.

Since I do not know how to use aura or mana nor any sort of combat skills.

My best bet would be to use a gun.

The same f*cking weapon that ended my life.

I shouldn't hold any grudge against it honestly as it was just doing what it was meant to do but still, I can't say that I don't have any ill feelings towards it.

"Where are the guns located?"

The short-haired female employee had a surprise looked on her face for a moment.

I mean since we became much more proficient on aura and mana thanks to the elves and orcs teaching us how to use them.

We relied less and less on guns as our weapons.

Since it was easier to control aura towards a sword or spear and are more effective in killing monsters rather than a gun, paired with mages having an arsenal of powerful spells at their disposal.

Guns were practically irrelevant.

But one of the main heroines proved them wrong, with her sheer talent, she was able to utilize both aura and mana to a gun and quickly rose to the ranks.

The female employee quickly shook her surprised face off and guided me to where the guns were.

As I scan the available ones.

Assault Rifles? Way too expensive to use.

Sniper rifles? Too heavy for my liking and I won't be able to use it effectively where I'm going.

Pistols? Too weak to deal any significant damage.

I was left with one choice.

A weapon perfect for a man who's packing.

After leaving the store.

I hurriedly checked the inventory inside my bracelet.

Just how amazing is this bracelet though?

It was imbued with storage magic which made me able to store items albeit with a limit to how heavy it is.

5 Medium-Grade Healing Potions - 1k Bells each.

1 Night-Vision Potion - 5k Bells

Basic Hunter Armor - 10k Bells

Double-Barreled Shotgun Mk2 - 15k Bells

50 Shotgun Shells - 3k Bells

I only have 19k Bells left.

That was a really expensive shopping spree but if I gained this hidden item.

It will all be worth it.

All that is left is to board a train straight to my destination.
