Zed raised an eyebrow and grabbed the man by his collar, yanking him back. The man's unstable footing nearly caused him to fall to the ground, but Zed's grip was lighten in the end.
He didn't want to get into trouble before he even started school.
More important, he didn't want to bring a boot of blood to see the teacher while giving out coins.
They won't take it.
"You damn shadowless, fuc--" the man began.
Zed already had an idea of what this was about—a disdainful Awakener looking down on a shadowless. Without waiting for the man to finish, Zed pulled him back again, wedging himself ahead.
"You're cutting in line," Zed stated firmly.
"Hey, you're a shadowless. What's the point of you useless trash standing in front of me?" the man sneered.
"Only I can cut in line," Zed replied in calm.
Having said his piece, Zed paid no more attention to the man.
