(Hong Kong, 2132, MTR station)
"How many people are evacuating from the MTR station?"
"Sir, 2 more batches!"
"EU have set up perimeter!"
"CTRU has cleared the area! Team Echo attacking from the North entrance!"
The multiple radio chatter erupted in the tactical headset of Inspector Phineas Wang as he approached the now evacuated MTR station, hand gripped tightly on his SIG 516 rifle. Just an hour ago, a group of armed terrorists stormed into a train and took the 50 passengers inside hostage. They had stopped the train and demanded that their fellow terrorists under police custody be released.
CTRU Team Echo walked down the stairs in CQB formation, taking up positions behind the now abandoned ticket office, which the stopped train is right in front of. Since the train had been stopped by the emergency button, the doors are wide open. Phineas peeked from behind the cover of a sentry robot. It has its extendable shields deployed, capable of stopping a .50 BMG shot directly.
"5 gunmen at the train head," he reported.
Team leader Inspector Gary Riley then relayed this information to RRT Team Delta, who had taken a position behind a wall facing the train rear.
"7 at the rear," Inspector Hannah Lim reported, her face appearing on the HUD in their helmets
"CTRU Team Echo, train front ready," Gary reported into his comms.
"RRT Team Delta, train rear ready," Hannah reported. Phineas grinned in anticipation, knowing that both teams are ready to strike.
"My first real operation as a CTRU operator is about to begin," Phineas thought, breathing in and out slowly, trying to quell his excitement and apprehension.
Soon, the five words Phineas had been anticipating the whole night were heard.
"All units, attention! Action, action!"
"Standby!" Gary ordered; they all immediately activated the night vision equipment on helmets. A split second later, the lights were cut and they were thrown into pitch black darkness. Phineas raised his rifle, aiming down his magnifier and red dot sight combo, the built-in fire control system from the smart optics already relaying bullet trajectory and other shooting related data into his HUD.
The RRT operators launched specialised grenades from their combat exoskeletons called Exo-suits, making a huge blast when they land.
"Go, go, go!" Phineas yelled, tapping the robot, which deployed its twin FN 303 riot guns, moving forward with its wheels and then walking over the gantry by extending its legs. They then advanced forward behind; guns raised.
A gunman rushed out of the train to examine what was causing the blast.
"Drop your weapon!" Phineas yelled. The robot immediately extended the shield to cover him.
He immediately turned his rifle on them, Phineas quickly pulled the trigger, gunning him down before he can shoot.
"Train head target down 1!"
The remaining gunmen attempted to force the doors shut, only for the sentry robot to forcefully pry it open with 2 extendable claws, then unleashing its arsenal of riot shots at the terrorists in range and locked on, incapacitating them.
Gary and another team member, Albert Cheung, launched flashbang grenades into the train as Team Echo stormed the train, then gunning down the disoriented gunmen before they have a chance to shoot back or hurt the hostages.
"Train head clear!" Albert reported.
Just then, Phineas noticed a gunman hiding behind a seat in the adjacent carriage trying to sneak away.
"Stop!" Phineas yelled. He immediately sprinted down the aisle. Instinctively, Phineas followed, with Gary following behind.
"Echo 2 chasing target towards train rear!" Phineas reported.
The gunman looked back and continued running, then slipping and falling face first onto the floor. Just as Phineas is going to tackle him down, he grabbed a passenger, a young school girl, who had been hiding behind a seat, shoving her right in front of Phineas.
Alarmed, Phineas immediately grabbed her and shielded her with his body, the gunman using this opportunity to raise a compact SBR, pulling the trigger, Phineas cannot dodge it in time, proceeding to hurl the vilest insults he can think of in his mind.
The speeding bullet hit Phineas squarely in his helmet, sending him reeling backwards and collapsed on the floor.
"Phineas!" Gary yelled, firing his MP5 and gunning the gunman down.
"MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN..."
