"Commander Phoebe, it's been 3 minutes already. Should we head inside now to check?" Terry, the sergeant, stepped forward and asked.
"It's not that I want to doubt that person's ability, but if we delay any further and he was just speaking nonsense, then it'll be disastrous for us." He added, voicing his concerns.
He knew what he just said might incur the wrath of Phoebe, but he still decided to speak out. A punishment was already guaranteed when they returned, but that was only possible if they could actually return alive.
Therefore, to place all hopes on an outsider was not something Terry could accept. After all, it was essentially handing their lives over to a random stranger.
Who would be naive or dense enough to let that happen?
So in a roundabout way, Terry was saying Phoebe's decision was too rash and illogical this time. The other soldiers held the same thought as Terry but didn't have the courage to actually say it to Phoebe.
