In a luxurious building a man and his wife, stood on the balcony of their apartment in a tall skyscraper, holding onto their respective glasses of red wine, with panicked expressions etched on their faces.
Their once serene and picturesque surroundings now felt like a cruel contrast to their current emotional state.
In the distance, city lights flicker and dance, illuminating the buildings and highways, painting a mosaic of neon colors, but it only accentuated their trauma.
The room behind them was barely noticeable.
Levi Windrider tapped his feet anxiously on the solid marble floor, his wife's hand was shaking as she sipped her glass of wine.
Her eyes darted side to side, as she frantically searched for something that wasn't there.
"Honey, I don't seem to understand what's going on. Leo didn't come back yesterday. Are you sure he's okay?" asked Lena Windrider.
"Our son is a Rudimentary Evolver, ranking level 4. There's likely nobody in the entire LBC( Landon Brooke Citadel) that can defeat him. So he'll be fine, don't bother yourself," replied Levi, taking a sip of red wine from his glass.
He continued, "Besides, I've sent the Shadow Guard mercenaries to check on him. Nothing is going to happen to him. You know he loves coming home late."
As he spoke, the environment remained tense, the couple anxiously waiting for any news regarding their son's whereabouts. The room around them was illuminated from the sunlight coming from the bright city skyline outside their window.
Suddenly, Levi's phone rang, and he picked it up, thinking it could be an important call. "Hello, who's on the line?" he answered.
"It's the Shadow Guards. Sir, we've obtained information on your son. We've sent some witnesses to the incident to your house," informed the voice on the other end.
Just then, the doorbell rang, and the maid, who was in charge of cleaning the house, made her way to the door and opened it. And to their surprise, it was Leo's friends, Ben and Ray, standing on the doorstep.
Levi looked at the door and saw that it was Leo's friends
"I don't seem to understand what you meant by eye witness" He said inquisitively.
"Sir, sorry to say but you will understand from the witnesses" The Shadow guard responsed.
"Okay, I can see that they're my son's friends. At least I'll get some tangible news from them," muttered Levi before hanging up, eager to hear what Ray and Ben had to say.
As Levi and Lena looked at the two friends, it was evident that they were also not in a good mood. "Sir...Ma," stammered Ben. "Sir..." Ray could barely speak, both struggling to keep themselves composed.
"What is it? Spit it out! Are you dumb?" said Leo's father, his impatience and worry palpable.
"Sir...," Ben tried again while still stammering, while Lena frowned at the sudden delay. "What's the matter with you guys? Are you dumb? Where is Leo?" she asked, walking towards Ray and Ben.
"Forgive us, Ma...," Ray and Ben said together as they knelt on the ground, tears streaming from their eyes.
"Le... L... Leo! He's dead!" screamed Ben with a weeping voice.
Immediately upon hearing the news, Leo's father's glass shattered on the floor, the shock of the news too overwhelming for him to handle. Leo's mother's glass also shattered as she couldn't process what she had just heard- her only son dead.
Uncontrollable rage took over Leo's mother, and she slapped Ben on the cheek, screaming, "Shut the fuck up! My son can't be dead!"
"That's impossible! No one would dare to lay their hands on Leo, knowing full well that it would be impossible for them to go scot-free. Tell me it's just a joke!" She continued, her anger boiling.
Leo's father- Levi was left thunderstruck, his world tumbling down in front of him, and he couldn't utter a word.
"Ma...I'm sorry, but he's dead. He had a bloodlust, and we couldn't protect him. He even tried to kill us. I'm sorry," Ray tried to explain, his eyes flooding with tears.
"My son can't be dead! There must be something wrong. Don't tell me that," pleaded Lena, breaking down into tears.
In her emotional turmoil, she began to shatter things in the room. The chandelier hanging from the ceiling was the first to be brought down by her telekinesis. The furniture in the room was also ripped apart by her immense aura.
The swords that were kept as a decoration on the wall suddenly came alive as she directed it towards Ben and Ray. In just a few minutes, they were about to meet their death.
The swords stopped an inch away from their necks. Ben and Ray, fearing they might impale, closed their eyes firmly awaiting their death.
They didn't feel any pain and slowly opened their eyes they were grateful that they were still alive.
Leo's mother was still filled with anger and disappointment that her swords failed to impale her targets. She turned to her husband, who surprisingly had his hands extended and was able to stop the swords midway.
"Honey! Don't be too harsh on them. It isn't time to do that now. They still have some questions to answer to. After they answer some necessary questions, then you can consider doing that," said Leo's father in a soothing voice, trying to calm the situation.
The environment remained tense, the sorrow and anger still lingering in the air as they tried to comprehend the magnitude of their loss.
Finally, Levi broke the silence,
"Who killed Leo?".....
