They had roughly 4 hours after departure to sign a ton of paperwork, discuss the significance of her position, and, of course, discuss the significance of the family's picture. Pablo, who has a law degree and has taken numerous economics courses, was explaining all the legal jargon while Queen Lucia, who used to be a reporter, was giving instructions on what to say and how to behave in public. She was always saying:
"Keep in mind Anthi, you are Her Royal Highness's aide. You must be just as faultless as she is while still treating her like a Goddess. You must simultaneously be perfect and modest."
On the other hand, the Queen Mother was just trying to sleep:
"¿De verdad hijo? ¿No puede aprender todo eso mañana?" which means in Spanish: "Really son? Can't she learn all of that tomorrow?"
Then Lucia responded for the King (in English): "Yes, Mom. You know well that there's no tomorrow if she doesn't learn discipline today."
Anthi was reminded of her family by these. For some reason, she was always the black sheep. She couldn't live with such toxic people, and instead of the Royal Family, they didn't have a reason to be that perfect. Why did they feel the need to be so flawless when they could have a regular life?
"Anthi, are you on planet Earth?" the Queen asked.
"Yes ma'am, I'm listening." Anthi answered. Of course, she was lying.
When they landed, it was 1 a.m. Everyone was exhausted, especially Anthi. She was dizzy from all of this information about laws and regulations. The Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport was huge (it is approximately 3.000.000 square meters) but someone was waiting for them.
"Who is he?" Anthi asked.
"Your boss's driver." the Queen Mother said. "Why don't you go and meet him?"
Anthi ran to the driver as she have never seen a human being in her entire life, but, to her surprise, he was a thin boy, probably younger than her, with dark skin.
"Hi ma'am, my name is Asim, nice to meet you." he said.
"Anthi, nice to meet you too."
The four of them were following Asim, like the sheep are following their shepherd. Even though he was really young, he managed to win their trust. And that grew Anthi's curiosity even more. They ended up in a black SUV, which was probably a new model. Anthi was about to sit in the front passenger's seat but Lucia stopped her:
"You unintelligent disgrace, what do you think you're doing?!" she asked.
"Open the door so I can get in, your Majesty." Anthi replied.
"Without asking, you gaffe!" Lucia explained screaming.
"Well, I didn't have to, because you are escorted by His Majesty, who opened the door for the back seats, and Her Majesty, Queen Sonia, gets easily nauseous in cars and likes to sit next to her son." Anthi explained with a calmer tone.
"Ooh, touchè." the King said out of nowhere.
When all of them were in the car, Lucia signaled to Asim and some seconds later, a black window separated them. Anthi asked if the Royals behind can hear them and Asim answered no. Anthi then asked every kind of question about the Princess. Asim described her as a kind and smart person, who speaks many languages but is also stubborn, overapologizing and with zero self-confidence. He told her about the panic attacks that she had in the past to the fact that she is left-handed. He said that she is stunning, but not as much as her sister. He also mentioned that Lycia is single and she is in a state where she is discovering her sexuality. After that, Anthi fully understood her assignment. She had to:
• Help her with assignments and speeches
• Help her to practice the many languages that she speaks (and the ones that can also Anthi speak)
• Support her emotionally
• Build her self-confidence and help her to discover her sexuality
• Follow the Queen's rules
After about half an hour, they arrived to the Zarzuela Palace. They went inside the gigantic palace. There were everywhere tapestries, porcelain, and many clocks, dated back to the 18th century. Anthi was impressed, until a door opened, and finally saw Her Royal Highness. Then, she looked with awe in her eyes.
"Lycia, this your new assistant, Anthi." the Queen Mother said.
"Can I have an assistant too?" Infanta Sonia asked.
"When the time comes, you'll have an assistant too. Be patient and in 2 years, you'll have your one." her father explained.
"Until then, if you want help, you can always ask me. I would be glad to help you." Anthi noted.
"Sonia and Asim, you can leave." Princess Lycia said, and they left. "Your Majesties, I am grateful for finding an aide for me."
"Of course, sweetheart. Anything for my daughter!" the King said.
"May your Majesties please leave?" Her Royal Highness asked kindly.
"Yes, honey, of course!" Pablo said and everyone left, except Anthi.
"Your Royal Highness, you do need anything?" Anthi asked.
"You start your duty tomorrow. And please, between the two of us, can you call me by my name?" Lycia asked.
"Of course, Lycia de Todos los Santos de Borbón y Ortoz." Anthi answered.
"I mean by my first name, you know, Lycia." she explained.
"Got it. Goodnight, Lycia." Anthi replied, but at that moment she couldn't think of anything else than the fact that Lycia is a Highness and a Goddess, indeed.
