Chapter 2 - An Unexpected Visitor

He had no answer to his question because he couldn't ever figure out what she wanted when he obviously wanted nothing to do with her.

Slowly, he turned to face her, cursing as soon as he was standing face to face with her. She was someone he hated seeing, and he had made her know that, but she kept coming back for whatever reason.

At first, when Abigail Carroll was first introduced to him at a party three months ago, he had immediately disliked her. Earlier that night, he had seen her flirting with a couple of rich men, older ones even, but he had ignored her, and she was the last person she expected to be introduced to.

She was the kind of woman that only wanted anything to do with a man because they were rich. His mother had introduced them, hoping that he would have something to do with her, probably get married to her or whatever her brain already told her would happen, but he had told them both she wasn't interested, only she kept coming back.

Brandon felt nothing for her, and seeing her coming back every time was annoying to him. He wouldn't lie, he had slept with her once, but he had been drunk that night. He thanked his wolf that she didn't think of claiming she was pregnant then.

He had been avoiding her ever since, making sure nothing like that ever happened again. The fact that he wanted children didn't mean he would have them with just anyone, he wanted something he would choose himself. He doubted he could ever fall in love again, and werewolves only got their mates once, so…

"Abigail!" he called, walking back to his chair to sit down.

She strolled into his office like she owned the place and that infuriated him even more. He hated that she thought she could wriggle her way into his life just because it was his mother that had introduced them and that was what he didn't understand about women like her.

They must either be dumb, no offense, or just don't want to give up when they clearly should. He eyed him carefully, already thinking of how to get one of his security to come to throw her out. What the hell was she doing here anyway, and why did she show up here without any warning?

"You look nice." She said, smiling, almost purring and Brandon wanted to shake his head at that. She must think doing that was sexy, but in the real sense, she looked pathetic.

"Thank you. What are you doing here?" it wasn't as if she had anything to offer or any business to bring to the table and this was his business place anyway.

"Isn't that too harsh? I just wanted to drop by to see how you're doing, and see if we can go shopping, you know." She said, wriggling her brows suggestively.

Furrowing his brows in confusion, he wondered if he hadn't heard him well. Had she truly just suggested they went shopping? "You want me to go shopping with you in the middle of a workday?" he asked and she nodded, smiling.

He chuckled in disbelief, shaking his head at the nonsense that was dropping off her mouth. "I know you don't really have a job, but I do, and I'm busy with it. I have a meeting with some clients in about," he looked down at his wristwatch. "twenty minutes and I'm trying to prepare for it. I would like you to leave now." He said.

Abigail smiled seductively, standing to walk around his large table. She stood beside him and bent a little so that her low cut-off dress would show her cleavage as she stood there. "You don't have to be harsh. You can just tell me when you can go with me." She said, rubbing his shoulder.

Angry now, he shrugged off her hand and stood up. He walked out from the other side of the table to the door and then he pulled it open so that she would walk out. "It's about time you leave, Abigail. You're not welcome here. I have work to do." He said, peering out to see where his secretary was supposed to be sitting down empty. That must be why this manipulative woman could walk by into his office as if she was his boss.

"Why don't you give me a call when you can go with me?" she asked, walking back to where she sat before to pick up her bag. "I'll be waiting patiently for your call. You want to go out and have fun with me, don't you?" she said, walking towards him. When she got to the door, she paused in front of him and started to move in to kiss him but he shoved his head to the side so that she dropped the kiss on his cheek.

His plan itched to clean the area, or even push her out of his office and drag her to the elevator, but he didn't want to be a scum. If he was everything, being an asshole to a woman aside from his employee was the last thing he could do.

"Just leave, Abigail. I have a lot of work to do, and I don't want to have security throw you out." He said through clenched teeth.

Abigail raised both her hands up in a gesture to say she surrendered and said. "Fine, I'll go. Just let me know, or ill have to ask your mom." She said and walked out.

As she went, Brandon scoffed, not believing his ears. Had she just threatened him just now by calling his mother and getting her to make him do what she wanted?

What she didn't know was that Brandon only did what he wanted. He might respect his mother, and try to do things just to make her happy, but she couldn't get her to do anything, and certainly not what she was implying she wanted him to do.

He watched her wait for the car of the elevator to arrive and when the doors opened, she walked into it, waving at him as the doors closed again.

Rolling his eyes, he grunted in frustration and turned to walk back into his office and closed the door, then he saw Ella coming from down the hall that led to the small kitchen and bathroom.

"Where the hell have you been?" he asked.

Ella looked at him with widened eyes as if she had been caught at something she shouldn't be doing, then she said. "I went t the bathroom, sir."

"Oh, and you thought it was nice to sleep there, right?" he asked.

She shook her head. "No sir, I was… I was just…" she stammered.

Brandon could tell that she was lying and it added to the anger he was feeling. She had probably left her post to go eat in the kitchen. He couldn't for the life of him figure out why people would love to do the wrong things at the wrong times, but it didn't even matter anymore in this situation.

This was the last straw. He had been taking her shenanigans and tardiness for a while now, but not anymore. He nodded his head and sighed. "Well, that's all right. Just know that you're fired. At the end of today, get your payment for the month in full at the HR, and never come back." He said, and without letting her say anything else, he turned and slammed the door of his office shut.

Fuck, it wasn't even two o'clock yet, but he was already having a hard time. Today was going to be a long stressful day, he could just tell by the look of things.
