Susan and Howard came back down together and Susan finally cut her birthday cake with all her friends around her. It was one of the best birthdays she had ever had. Everything was going smoothly, the music was playing, people were dancing, some were drinking, while some where chatting and caching up on some minor gist and gossips. The party was filled with merriment, jubilation and most importantly; love.
Howard could be seen introducing Susan to some of his friends who she hadn't met before. While Ami, Leah and Brooke stood in one corner of the room, engaged in a trivial conversation until Brooke asked about Susan's sister.
"...That reminds me, what about Susan's sister, Rosalie?" Brooke asked as she her eyes searched through the crowd, like she was trying to find the person she had just asked about. Her returned back to her two friends in front of her, waiting for an answer. "It looks like she isn't here."
"Susan didn't invite her." Ami replied and took a sip from her wine. "Susan didn't want any negative energy in her birthday party.
"Oh, wow." Brooke was surprised to hear that Susan didn't invite her sister. "That's great. At least this birthday party can go smoothly without any silly scene." Brooke shook her head as she remembered Susan's previous birthdays. Every single year, on Susan's birthday, Rosalie had always made it her top priority to make one big scene.
Brooke smirked and rose up her wine glass. "Cheers to the fact that Rosalie didn't attend Susan's birthday this year. And for once, Susan can have a great birthday...." She eyes drifted to where Susan stood with her boyfriend. "....with the man that she loves without any nuisance of any sort. Cheers girls!"
"Cheers!" Leah and Ami clicked their glasses with Brooke's glass as they chuckled happily.
They were still laughing happily when Leah suddenly stopped laughing and frowned. The other women stopped laughing too, when they noticed her quick change of mood.
Ami looked at Brooke and Brooke shrugged indicating that she did not know what had Leah suddenly glum.
"Leah," Ami called to gain her attention as she was looking at somewhere else. Leah turned to face Ami, her frown still in place. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"Speak of the devil and she will be there. Rosalie just arrived..." Leah informed them as she stared behind Ami, towards the direction of the approaching woman. "And i think she's coming to meet us." Ami and Brooke expression also changed when they heard what Leah said. They turned around, and behold Rosalie was already in front of them with a sweet smile plastered on her face.
"Hey girls. It's been a while since I last saw you three together like this."
"Hi, prom queen. I haven't seen you since Paxton broke up with you after he caught you sleeping with his brother." Brooke said mockingly, with a smirk causing Ami to chuckle.
Rosalie scowled and then snickered. "He didn't breakup with me," she tipped her chin up in pride. "I ended that relationship myself, Brooky."
Ami rolled her eyes at Rosalie. Everyone knew that the supermodel, Paxton who was also their friend had broken up with Rosalie, because he did it in public.
"Is that the stupid lie you tell yourself to feed your damn pride." Ami asked her, with one of her brows slightly lifted.
"Ana dear." Ami frowned, hearing the name Rosalie had just address her with. "Did you miss me, because i really missed you." Rosalie smirked, like she did not hear what Ami had said to her. "And Ana, i heard you got engaged to this super rich guy. Is it true?"
"My life is non of your business, and if you call me Ana one more time, you will regret it." Ami glared at her.
"Oh come on. Don't tell me your getting pissed off because i called you Ana," she said with a smirk. "Ana." She repeated the name again.
Ami was about to move closer to Rosalie but Leah stopped her. "Just ignore her. She's not worth it."
"Omg!" Rosalie exclaimed as she stared at Leah like she had just seen something unbelievable. "You're here. It's been so long. I missed you so much, Leah. I was—"
She started, but was interrupted by Leah.
"One more word from that mouth of your, and i will make sure my fist kiss all over your face." Leah warned and Rosalie immediately shut up.
Rosalie knew that Leah was no bark without bite. She had tested her before and it did not end well for her. She wasn't ready to get into a fight that she wouldn't be able to win, at least not yet.
"Okay fine. Gosh, you girls are so aggressive." She chuckled nervously before her eyes darted to something or someone else. "Now if you'll excuse me, i have an important personnel to talk to. See you around girls." She winked and blew a kiss at them before walking away.
"That b*tch. What is she doing here?" Ami asked.
"I guess she invited herself," Leah replied her eyes still fixed on the area Rosalie had entered, with a frown in between her brows. She shook her head and turned to face Ami and Brooke. "Just forget about her."
"She has gotten more idiotic than before." Brooke commented.
"Who has gotten more idiotic?" Susan who had just come to talk with them without their notice asked.
Brooke pivoted to face her with a nervous smile. "Hey. This wine is great." She said, trying to distract her from the question she had asked. She did not want Susan to know that Rosalie was at her party.
"Oh. Thanks." Susan replied with a smile and drew her eyes to Leah. "So, who has gotten more idiotic?"
"She was talking about Rosalie. She's here." Leah replied.
"What! When did she arrive?."Susan asked, expressing her surprise.
"Like three minutes ago." Ami replied.
"Where is your boyfriend?" Leah suddenly asked, causing the other three women to stare at her questioningly.
"He went to get a bottle of wine from the cellar. Why are you asking?"
"It's probably nothing," Leah replied as she shook her head.
"What is it Leah." Susan asked her with a suspicious look.
"Don't freak out, okay. But i think Rosalie followed Howard to the cellar."
"What!" The other two women exclaimed including Susan.
"I told you not to freak out."
"What do you mean by don't freak out?" Brooke asked, and pointed at Susan. "Her sly, half sister is with her boyfriend as we speak, and you want her to stay calm without freaking out." Brooke turned to Susan. "And what are you still doing here. Go and get your boyfriend now."
Susan nodded before leaving.
Leah glared at Brooke and slapped her arm lightly. "Brooke, why did you say that."
Brooke rubbed the spot where Leah had spanked her. "Hey, that really hurts." She returned a glare back at Leah before rolling her eyes when she saw that even Ami was looking at her with the same expression. "What? I was just looking out for our friend."
"Did you have to say it out loud like that. Your not even sure if Rosalie is seducing the guy or not. You could have just told her to check on her boyfriend without hinting that Rosalie is seducing him in the cellar." Ami scolded her.
"Well... um... i... i freaked out okay." Brooke shuttered causing Ami to roll her eyes at her.
Leah felt like face palming at Brooke's excuse. She was about to say something when she sighted Howard and Susan coming back to the party together with a wine bottle.
Leah turned to Brooke. "Susan's back with Howard and the wine and nothing happened."
Brooke looked a bit embarrassed and quickly replied, "Oh, I must have just misunderstood the entire situation earlier. Sorry about that."
"It's fine. It's not like Rosalie hasn't done something like that before. Anyway, am planing on..." Leah stopped mid sentence when she felt her phone vibrating in her bag. She pulled out her phone from her bag to see a text message from one of her neighbors.
"Oh my God. I have to go." Leah exclaimed after reading the text on her phone.
"Why, what's the problem? Ami asked.
"My neighbor, the one who works at the pet store just brought my puppy home."
"You have a puppy?" Brooke asked surprised.
"Yeah. I bought it last weekend but I left it in my neighbor's care because it needed some minor vaccination."
"Okay." Brooke nodded.
"Oh no. I did not come with my car." Leah complained.
"It's fine. You can use mine." Ami said opening her bag to find her car keys.
"Oh, thanks. Please tell Susan i left."
Ami handed Leah her car keys from her bag. "No problem, Leah. Go take care of your puppy and please drive carefully."
Leah smiled and said her goodbyes to Ami and Brooke before leaving.
