Chapter 13 - The calm after the storm

Neale woke up early the next morning.

His eyelids felt like they were made of lead and his memories wandered back to the day before. After defeating Odegaard, he got home and slept. That was around 1 or 2 o'clock. He had slept for about 4 hours since it was past 6 at the present moment.

Neale jumped got up from the mattress on which he slept and went on to freshen up. In a few frustrating seconds, his painful legs carried his ungrateful self over to the mat on the floor.

"Ah! Good morning Neale!" Uncle Jeff greeted, a usual friendly smile on his face. "Sit down for breakfast! Mira makes delicious food!"

"Ah, thank you, uncle, I will have to test that for myself," Neale exclaimed as he sat down for the meal.

It was a simple meal of scrambled eggs, sausages, and bread but Alden had to admit that there was something different about this meal. It was clear the cook was an expert.

"Wow, I thought you were just making small talk when you said that Mira can cook but..." Alden licked his fingers. "I  see you were just being humble!"

"Hehehe, You like it, hey? Now, just Imagine what it would be like eating that every day?" Uncle Jeff chuckled, a sinister look in his eyes.

"Heh..." Neale paused just as he was stuffing some food into his mouth. What is that supposed to mean?

Before Neale could comment on that statement, footsteps could be heard by the staircase.

"Pappa!" Someone called out. "Where are my car keys?"

"Check in the clothing you wore yesterday," Uncle Jeff said as he finished off a small piece of sausage.

"Alright..." The voice said, after a moment a woman walked out. She was dressed in a suit and her black hair was trimmed to her shoulders, making it look neat. She cast a strange look at Neale before she turned to leave. "Goodbye, Pappa!"

Neale sighed to himself, he knew why that woman was shooting him those looks. It was she thought he was nothing but a good-for-nothing delinquent. She wasn't wrong but...

"Goodbye, dear!" Uncle Jeff replied before turning to Neale. I am going to leave soon too, are you staying for another day?"

"No, unfortunately, I have things to do. I will be back next weekend, however." Alden replied as he helped Uncle Jeff clean up.

"Ahh, I see. I will see you next week then," Uncle Jeff said with a sigh.

Neale left the house soon and he met up with Jon before they were heading home.

"Wow Jon, you were really enjoying yourself last night. You were busy beating up people left, right, and center," Neale laughed as he teased his bodyguard.

"I-I WAS DOING MY JOB!" Jon anxiously replied as he cast embarrassed glances at Neale.

"Alright, Alright," Neale chuckled. He was sure if he kept teasing Jon, Jon would most definitely crash the car.

They very soon reached the house. Neale thereafter went straight to the Blake Industries office. Very soon he was in his father's office, sitting at a chair across from Lucas Blake.

"Congratulations, It was extremely fast, the way you took down Kennington Club," Lucas Blake said as he watched Neale.

"It was a piece of cake," Neale simply replied, not trying to sound arrogant.

"Sure thing, are you going to need anything? I mean, for the Stray Tigers," Lucas Blake asked.

"Yep, we need firstly, a new uniform. I also want to open an MMA gym and there is a particular building that I intend to get. Also, we need motorcycles," Neale said, not feeling ashamed to request so many things from Lucas Blake.

"Alright, but are you sure you want motorcycles?" Lucas Blake asked Neale with his eyebrow raised. "I can get you cars if you like."

"Nah, bikes are cooler. Maybe sometime in the future.  " Neale mumbled in reply.

"Fine then, but you need to get yourself a driver's license, " Lucas Blake said as he clicked his pen.

"That'll be easy, I can already drive so I just need to go for the test," Neale said nodding his head.

"Great, then. Anything else?" Lucas asked casting a questioning look at Neale.

"I've gotta go to a party. I've been invited," Neale said unconsciously rocking in his chair.

"Oh, that's fine with me. Jon can take you, just don't do anything dangerous, " Lucas Blake said with a slight smile.

"Great, then," Neale said getting up. His father escorted him to the door and saw him out. Just as Neale was about to head off, Lucas Blake said something to him.

"Neale, soon you're going to have to announce to the world that you're my son," His expression grew serious as he said this. "I hope you're ready for that."

"Can't we keep it a secret?" Neale asked, a frown making itself present on his face.

"No, there are already rumors out about this. Even if we stay silent, it will get out eventually and it will be less pretty once it does. It is best that we be honest with the public, " Lucas Blake said with a tired sigh.

Neale stayed silent for a few seconds before speaking, "Then I guess we have no choice. When will that be?"

"This Wednesday I am going to go on a talk show. It is close to impossible that they will avoid asking a question about you, considering that you're the main topic nowadays, " Lucas Blake said.

Neale nodded and reply and left the office to join Jon, his driver who was waiting for him outside. Neale and Jon left the office before heading home. Neale was once again fascinated by the fact that he was living in such a palace. The grandiosity of his dwelling made him feel like a prince, and he couldn't help but explode with happiness.

Neale got ready and dressed in a new suit of clothing before leaving for the location. He chose to take a taxi since he was going to meet his classmates and he was still ' Neale Blake' the poor guy. He couldn't pull up in Bentley now, could he?

Very soon, Neale had pulled up outside the gates of a large beautiful mansion

"I'm beginning to enjoy my life now, " Neale mumbled to himself as he  strolled over to the massive gates of the mansion.
