Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

" PAPA!!! " The two Volkov brothers rushed to their injured father, who was coughing blood his lips were split and was bleeding profusely.

" Papa! Papa! " they called to their father while also nudging him, begging him to at least respond to their cries, but Nikolai was unresponsive.

" Nikolai! " Rosseweisse was also by his side, her heart dropped at the injuries he had received, " Can you hear my voice? I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! It just happened so fast! "

" Rosseweisse, what's going on?" Sigrun was at a loss for words as to what was transpiring in front of her. She saw the two children bawling their eyes out at the sight of their bloodied and battered father.

"I-I am sorry for attacking your father. This was just a misunderstanding on our part." Sigrun attempted to place her hand on one of the children's shoulders. "Lady Eir can heal your fa-"

" DERZHIS' PODAL'SHE! ( STAY AWAY! ) "

Sigrun had to take a step at the sheer amount of hatred and anger the words were directed at her. Although she doesn't know Russian, but the rage and hatred in their words were enough to bypass the language barrier, their intent were very clear.

She used translation magic and tried to calm the two raging children. " Hey calm down, I mean no harm, I'm just trying to help. "

That did not help to calm down them instead it enraged them even more. " After what you did to Papa, you dare come near him? "

" Look this happened because of a misunderstanding and I apologize for- "

" SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH! " The audacity of this woman, first she tried to kill their father and now acting all apologetic as if nothing had happened! This will not be tolerated. Transforming into their monster forms, they summoned their sledgehammers and were ready to attack. " You tried to kill Papa! We will smash your skull and tear you apart! "

What was more creepy; two enraged humanoid crow monsters wielding sledgehammers, or the fact that they were speaking on sync, saying the above words in exact unison.

To Sigrun, they were both. Even the Valkyrie who were freed from Nikolai's cursed chains had to admit that these two were indeed creepy and intimidating.

Luckily for them, Rosseweisse immediately tried to calm them down. " Artom, Igor they are just trying to help. Lady Eir can heal your Papa... Just try to calm down, ok? "

They looked at the empty eyes of their father and then to the pleading eyes of hers, the condition of their father was not getting any better. They turned to the other Valkyries and glared at them, they did not trust them not one bit, but if this Lady Eir could help...

" Ok. "

As they lowered their weapons, Eir landed in front of them her eyes first fixed on the bloodied man, wondering what is he doing in the middle of this forest. Her gaze then fell on the silver-haired Valkyrie.

" Rosseweisse, we will need to have a talk. But first this man needs medical attention. " she motioned the valkyries towards Nikolai, " Carry him back to the village. "

Since Eir did not use translation magic, the Volkov brothers did not understand a single word coming from her mouth and seeing two Valkyrie approaching their father they immediately snapped.

" Don't touch PAPA! "

" Artom, Igor they're going to carry Papa back to the village to heal him. " Rosseweisse calmed them down, but even then they would not let anyone come close to Nikolai.

The two brothers carried their father, and with the help of flight magic, the Valkyries and the Volkov family took flight and eventually arrived at the village at sunset.

As they landed on solid ground, the one to first greet them was the Einherjar Erik. " Welcome back! and I can we have finally got back our Valkyrie. " he greeted them as he saw group arriving with the silver-haired Valkyrie, then his gaze went to the two humanoid crow creatures who were carrying a bloodied man.

" Dear, who are these... " Erik voiced out his curiosity and was quickly answered by his wife.

" That man was the one who saved Rosseweisse and these two are his sons. "

" And why is this man injured? Did an undead do that to him? "

" We mistook him for an undead as he was wearing their armour and we have injured him due to that. "

" We better take him to the healer's house, I must begin healing him as soon as possible. " Eir quickly motioned the Volkov brothers to follow her, as they brought their father to a wooden house at the center of the village.

Laying Nikolai in a bed, Eir told everyone to leave and let her focus on healing the man. Though Eir had a great proficiency in Nordic magic of the ice elements, she was one of the few people who could use Senjutsu to heal others.

Once everyone left the house, including the restless Volkov brothers who were gently led outside by Rosseweisse, the only person who had their trust.

" Papa? " Artom stretched out his hand towards his father as the door was closed.

" Don't worry, Lady Eir is a healer. " Rosseweisse eased the worried child. " She was one of the few Valkyries who were personally trained by Lady Freya in the art of Senjutsu. Your Papa will be up and cooking Borsh for you by tomorrow. "

" Really? " Both Artom and Igor said as they took a final look at the healer's house.

" Yes. " Rosseweisse replied, " So why don't we go and have some food first. You two haven't had lunch yet right? "

Eir placed her palm on Nikolai's mouth where his lips was badly split, the wound will heal but the scars won't. A faint greenish aura was generated from her palm and she focused on healing his injuries.

She muttered, "That's odd." As she removed her hand from his mouth, the wound was already healed, leaving only a distinct scar.

" Twenty minutes. " That was time it took for her to heal his wound, " Just what are you? " she muttered as her gaze fell on the unconscious Russian man.

This was very odd for Eir who knew very well the limits of her ability. Usually it would take her two hours to heal someone with the same kind of injuries sustained by Nikolai. But this man took only twenty minutes to fully heal his wounds, at this rate he was probably going to wake up by tomorrow morning as if nothing had ever happened to him.

" This kind of Healing factor is too high for a mortal human. " Eir was bewildered at what she was witnessing before her eyes, even the fractures on his side that was caused by Sigrun's destructive fist was healing at a rate that wasn't humanly possible.

Questions were raised about his origins, what was he doing in the forest far away from his home country and why she could sense two auras coming from him which were both polar opposite from each other.
