A Few hours went by as the team settled in their new home, Calliope and Colton were still suspicious of Myo's kindness. And the deal.
But even with that suspicion, Colton ate some of the stew made. It was a simple but delicious meat stew, one that gave him a few memories of his past and brought some comfort to him.
The group was posted in different parts of the home while the twins, Colton, and Calliope still sat on the table.
Myo sat across from them, eager to talk about the plan. A map was placed on the table, partially filled out, depicting the streets and areas to the north of the cathedral and market.
"We'll need to head farther from the cathedral, it's just an area I haven't gone to much. Your job is to spread out and wave your arms if you find any notable points. Could be minor things like taverns, inns, to more major places like a rich person's house, infirmary, or another market." He explained.
"Along with this," Myo stood up for a moment and plucked something from next to the chest of gold. A sheathed short sword.
"We may have some company, I had many run-ins with the local guard here. And they have a big eye on the entire city, we were just lucky none of them spotted us earlier."
"You'll just do those simple tasks, I think I have to map all of them out." Myo walked back to the chest, this time pulling out a short stack of long empty maps.
"You know, as time goes on. Maybe you can also consider that city home, though I won't recommend it if you're a criminal or thief like me." He chuckled.
After a few more minutes of grabbing a few more things and listing a few more details on the plan, Myo headed for the door.
"We can finish this before night comes. Prepare your team." After speaking, he left through the door.
Calliope began gathering everyone, some were napping and others were just talking to each other. She gave a quick rundown on what they had to do, all understood the task and walked outside as well.
Myo awaited down below. With his hood up, a sword on his waist, and a stack of papers in his hand.
Without talking, they started their plan. The forest felt warmer as afternoon began setting in.
Everyone was well rested and more energetic than before, awaiting their new mission with open eyes and famished stomachs.
After a while, they exited the forest. The castle wall gate was shut, and Colton could spot a few guards patrolling on the top.
"Try your best to evade them, our aim is just intelligence after all." He reminded the team.
They crept up to the castle walls and began climbing upwards, trying their best to quietly get up, gripping cracks and out of place stone blocks.
On the top, they started hopping on nearby roofs and making their way to the north of the city. Hoping that the guards did not spot them.
As they went on Colton realized that the voices and shouts of people progressively got louder the further north they went, nearing the market and cathedral.
Down below, the streets were more packed than ever. A flood of different colored cloaks moving against each other like water.
After passing by the two landmarks, they reached the northern area Myo spoke of.
From Colton's perspective, the area didn't seem to have anything unique, all just the same colored roofs in different shapes and sizes for miles. Colton began to wonder just how many people even lived here.
"Well, this is it. Just cover as much ground as possible and find any notable place and wave your arms at me. Do your best to stay out of sight though." The entire group quickly ran in multiple directions, posting themselves on different spots, just enough to see Myo.
Colton walked along the edge of the roof. Down below he could see people walking both ways, and a number of armored guards with swords.
He tried locating any significant establishment he could call Myo for.
He hopped from roof to roof, having observed five streets already, none had any significant store. But as he continued observing each one, he realized that the streets all had a great number of guards simply standing around near them, ready to catch any possible criminal.
The realization brought fear to Colton, each street had teams of guards posted in each one, seemingly with little issue in doing so. Even Colton couldn't do such a security plan in his own kingdom.
After a few more streets, he spotted a tavern. People were entering and exiting at an alarming rate, all drunk as they returned to the streets, wandering aimlessly while others sat on the side.
Seeing all this, Colton turned around and began waving to Myo.
In little time, he made his way to Colton, jumping roof to roof in mere seconds, far faster than before while still holding onto the papers.
"A tavern, pretty packed. You know, those ones should hold a book or two." He briefly commented, he didn't sound or look tired after the sudden run he made.
He hastily scribbled on the map he held, taking a minute or two before finishing and nodding his head to Colton, leaving to see if anyone else had found something.
'This is easy enough.' He thought to himself.
Leaving the street, Colton continued searching the other areas near him, he could see his other teammates walking on other roofs in the distance, periodically waving to get Myo's attention.
After an hour, the sun was already starting to go down, the people down below were moving noticeably faster. Colton felt tired from the sun, having stayed up for a good while and only finding two other notable areas.
The day continued winding down to an end, having found little. Colton only hoped that they found enough to complete the mission.
But his thoughts were short lived as Marcus in the distance seemed distressed, taking out his weapon and looking down. Suddenly, guards began climbing up.
The group soon started making their way to him as he began fighting them off. Before any of them could reach him, Myo joined the fight.
He started fighting the guards, assaulting them with swift strikes from his blade, taking them down one by one almost in the blink of an eye. Their bodies began disintegrating once killed, just like the ones from the books.
"At least we neared the end of this mission I guess. But I only hoped we could end it without a problem." He looked down at Marcus, annoyed but helped him up.
Standing around, Quill pointed down at the ledge of the roof the guards came from, more began climbing upwards. But Myo had a different plan in mind.
"They spotted us, more are probably on the way right now. Follow me, we gotta run." Before the guards could nab any of them, the group ran off, sticking together while jumping roof to roof. Behind them, some of the guards started chasing behind them as well.
Celestine was ahead of the group, just behind Myo while everyone was struggling to even catch up to him.
No matter how many roofs they jumped over, the group of guards behind them seemed focused on them. Myo thought of a possible plan to try getting them off.
"At this rate, they'd find where we're going. Try knocking them off!" At the rear of the group, Colton felt that the order was for him. Behind him, the guards were slowly getting closer to the group. An idea quickly came to his mind.
He took out his hammer, and stopped for a brief moment, turning around to the soldiers. He thrusted the weapon forward with great force, causing some of the guards to fall below before Colton ran back to his group. The team of guards were now just half.
As they went on, Quill joined in, firing at the soldiers, Colton watched as each one hit the guards, falling on the roofs they were on or to the streets below.
"Seems we gained the attention of the other streets, hear that?" Colton started hearing frantic footsteps of metal shoes as guards down below them rushed around, trying to keep up with them on the ground. But none were on the rooftops yet.
In the distance, they could see the castle walls, and the noise of metal footsteps only became more loud as they got closer, causing the group to start running faster.
"Let's hope they lose their sight of us near the walls."
On the ground, Colton realized. Large wagons hailing from the gate entrance were clogging the streets, preventing the guards from continuing their chase.
On the wall and finally scaling their way down, they hastily climbed down and dashed for the forest. The guards on the wall seemed to not have noticed them again, fortunately.
They all breathed a sigh of relief after moving deep enough to the forest to calm down. But the mission was done, Myo's map was complete.
