I'll leave the third celestial prince in your care. I don't believe I need to remind you that he is a guest of our devil palace."
"Big sister Red Jade has nothing to worry about," Little Plum flatteringly smiled.
With a slight nod, Red Jade left.
After Red Jade was out of sight, Little Plum walked up to the boy and crouched down next to him.
"Tangyu Sanjun," she whispered.
No response.
She waved her hand in front of his face.
No response.
"Look at his dumb appearance," Little Plum thought to herself. This guy was so cute as a child. How did he turn into a blood-thirsty monster when he grew up?
Little Plum thought to herself, "I might as well take full advantage of the situation."
She reached out her itchy hands and pinched the delicate snow-white skin.
"Feels pretty good," she thought wickedly to herself.
Just then, Tangyu Sanjun turned his head to look at her.
Little Plum plastered a smile on her face, "Your highness, it's midday, shall I bring your afternoon meal to you?"
Tangyu Sanjun turned back to stare into space, completely ignoring Little Plum's question.
She will just take that as a yes.
Little Plum stood up. In fact, when she thought about it, why did Tangyu Sanjun only have one personal maid serving him back then. When she compared herself to him, she had at least twelve maids who frequently served her. Then there were twenty who would come to serve her for certain rituals and occasions.
Why didn't father emperor nor mother empress send more people to serve their honored guest?
Puzzled, Little Plum didn't even realized she had made it to the kitchen.
The bustling kitchen was filled with the sound of chopping and the strong smell of wood smoke.
"What are you standing there for?" a matronly middle-aged woman asked.
"I'm Little Plum and I'm serving his highness Tangyu Sanjun."
Before Little Plum could continue, the matronly middle-aged woman spat out a mouthful of foul phlegm.
"Just a dirty celestial. Don't know why our precious princess invited this thief home. All the celestials know how to do is to pick fights and make our devil race send tribute in the name of compensation."
Ah, it just hit her. Guwu Lin remembered the hatred between the devil race and the celestial race. This hatred had existed long before she came into the world.
The matronly middle-aged woman disdainfully added, "The celestials aren't so great. They have the God of the World with them, so they think they can do whatever they want. All they are, are lawless bandits."
Little Plum let out a deep sigh and then bowed to the matronly middle-aged woman. "Big sister is absolutely right. Even I can't stand to be by the side of a celestial, but I'm just a new maid in the palace. I can't refuse if they assigned me to serve him. If he starves, I wouldn't mind, but if the higher-ups knew about it, can I keep my head?"
With a grin showcasing her missing front teeth, the matronly middle-aged woman guffawed. "What was your name again?"
"Little Plum," Little Plum answered quickly.
"In the future if anyone gives you a hard time in the kitchen, you just tell them that sister Black Crow is your backing. And if anyone bullies you, you let me know and I'll spit in their food."
Little Plum forced a smile on her face. "Big sister Black Crow is the most powerful."
"Of course, I am," Black Crow proudly stated.
She had never met such an agreeable youngster before. All the kids these days only know to talk about peace and getting along. Bah! What was the use of living peacefully with a bunch of lawless bandits.
Black Crow handed Little Plum Tangyu Sanjun's meal set. Then she also placed an extra bowl of fine white rice on the tray.
"This is for you," Black Crow announced.
"Thank you, big sister," Little Plum joyfully answered.
As Little Plum walked away, she thought to herself, "Living in this palace isn't easy. It's a good thing I have many years of prior experience.
Walking back to the Calming Heart Palace, she encountered her younger self.
