Chapter 1 - Prologue : Jenny and Kamen in school and their graduation ceremony.

I wake up I turn over and look out the window, the sun is just rising and I can see the blue skies slowly coming into view, they're so beautiful. Complimented with various white clouds, some dark. Stretching, I look at the clock. "Damn it, it's 7'clock!" I shout as I get out of bed and get dressed. I quickly run down the stairs and bolt outside the door only stopping and looking at a picture of mom and dad. "I miss you guys. I wish I knew what happened to you two." I say as I run towards the bus before I get there the bus drives off.

"Fuck!" I yell out as I run after the bus. The school is around 30 minutes away, I already know I'm gonna be drained by the time I get there.

30 minutes later I arrive at the school.

I run past the gate and make it inside. Jenny is standing there giggling at me. "You really need a better alarm clock don't you Kamen?" She says lightly tapping my back. Out of breath I look at her. "Yeah, that would be nice. But I only make enough for clothes and food. The school is only helping me pay what little bills I have since mom and dad disappeared." I say as I catch my breath and walk down the halls with her.

I look at her while we walk. "You are so gorgeous Jenny, if only I had enough courage to tell you that. If I could I'd tell you how much you mean to me. You've spent so much time with me all this time." I think to myself. We make it to the classroom and walk inside.

We both find our assigned seats and sit down. Glancing at each other. Jenny smiles at me again. I smile back but feel kinda awkward with everyone staring at us. Alot of people were jealous of the friendship I had with Jenny. They wished that they could have a fraction of the time I have with her. The bell finally rings and everyone quiets down and the principal walks in. "I guess Mrs.Lasiter isn't coming in today?" I ask Jenny. She shakes her head. "I don't know, she's never missed a day." She says as we look forward.

The principal speaks up. "I'm sorry to inform you, but Mrs.Lasiter won't be coming in, it would seem that something has happened within her family and has decided to take sometime off. For now, I will be teaching you." She says before walking up to the board.

For the first few hours of the day it's so boring. The bell rings and it's lunchtime. Jenny and I get up out of our seats and walk to lunch together.

"I should just tell her how I feel at lunch, I know I can do it." I think to myself as we make it into the cafeteria. We get our food and sit down. Jenny looks up at me as she takes a bite out of her food. She's always eaten healthy. She smiles and starting talking to me. "It's hard to believe that in three short months we'll be graduating Kamen. What are you going to do after graduation?" I cough trying to swallow my food. Jenny laughs. "I'm not sure Jenny. I was thinking of spending more time with you. What do you plan to do after we graduate?" I ask taking a drink of my soda.

Jenny looks sad for a moment. "My family wants me to go to college. It's two states over. But I'm hoping to convince them to let me stay." She says taking a bite out of her food. "I don't think I've ever really met your parents. We've been friends since we were children and not once have I seen them." I say.

She slowly shakes her head. "They're solitary people, they mainly stay at home. I'm sorry, they really just don't like when people come over. If it was possible I'd like you to meet them some day." She says taking a drink of my soda. She looks down and realizes that it was mine and not hers. "I'm sorry Kamen, I thought it was my water. I'll buy you another one." She says putting the soda down back on the table.

Soon the bell rings and we head to our next class. We walk in and sit down. "Hey Jenny, I wanted to tell you something. Can I talk to you after school?" I ask her. She looks at me and smiles. "Of course, I don't mind at all, you have to walk me home anyways you silly goose." She says giggling.

I stare at her admiring how beautiful she is. "One day you'll be mine forever Jenny. I just know it." I think to myself. After some time the bell eventually rings again and we head out of the door we head for the exit when suddenly Jenny's phone rings. She looks down and looks sad. "I'm sorry, it's my parents. Just give me a second." She says answering the call and walking away for a minute.

Standing there, I realize how nervous I am. "I'm about to tell her how I feel, I need to man up." I say to myself as I slap my cheek. Jenny walks back to me with sadness written on her face. "I'm sorry Kamen, it looks like my parents are going to pick me up and they want me to wait here. I'll see you tomorrow okay?" She says as she gives me a hug. I hug her back and I can smell her shampoo, it smells amazing.

Soon, she lets go and I walk out the door and walk home. It's around 430 pm when I get home. "I wonder why her parents were picking her up? They never pick her up. Something must have happened." I think to myself as I shake the thought from my head and walk into the kitchen and grab some cereal. "Good ole Golden Cinnaflakes. You'll never leave me." I say out-loud grabbing the milk and a bowl.

"But mom, dad, I don't want to leave his side! I care for him!" Jenny yells at her parents. Their eyes shine red. "This is for your own good. He's a human, eventually humans die and you'll be alone. You need to find a vampire and be with." Her father said. Jenny huffs and puffs. "But what if I turn him into a vampire? Would you let me be with him then?" She asks.

The parents look at each other. "I'm sorry Jenny, it's just not wise to be with him any longer. After you graduate you must no longer associate with him." Her mother said. Jenny breaks down in tears. "But I love him, why can't you understand that?!" She yells out before running back into her room and slamming the door, slightly cracking the wall.

She lays down in her bed and thinks to herself. "I'm sorry Kamen, I wish I could be with you forever. You're the nicest human I've met and you've made me so happy, ever since we were kids you were always kind to me and wanted to hang out with me. I don't understand why my parents can't see that."

The next when I meet up with Jenny at the gate she looks sad, but then sees me and cheers up. " I see you decided to get here on time today." She says laughing. "What can I say, seeing you in the morning is the best thing ever." I say as I give her a hug. I pull away and look her in the eyes. "After school do you want to come to the carnival with me?" I ask. She looks alittle confused. "Did you just ask me out on a date Kamen?" She asks. I cock a nervous grin. "I'd say that it's just friends hanging out." I say nervously. She laughs. "Alright I'll see you there." She says as she walks into the school.

The whole day goes by in a flash, I can only think of one thing. "I'm going on a date with Jenny, why did I have to be an idiot and say it was just a friends hang out. I'm so dumb." I think to myself as I walk up to the carnival and see Jenny. She looks more and more beautiful everyday. It's like I'm seeing a goddess. My heart thumps really heavy when she looks at me and smiles. "Hey Kamen! I'm glad you showed up!" She says running over to me and giving me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. I feel like I could melt. I cough nervously. "So, what do you want to do first Jenny?" I ask her as we walk around the carnival. She looks up and spots the ferris wheel. She points to it. "I wanna go up there." I look up and gulp. "I can't wait Jenny, I get you to myself up there." I say laughing. We walk up to the ferris wheel and hop into a seat.

Soon, the ferris wheel is rotating and taking us up. It stops at the top as we look over and see everything. "Everything looks really small from up he-" I try to say as Jenny pulls my head around and kisses me. I'm shocked. "I-I wasn't expecting that." I say as I feel my face blush. She giggles. "It was for taking me out, no one has ever asked me before. I was thinking that you didn't like me." She says as we look back out to the view. The rest of the date goes by really quick. As we walk over to the exit, I look over at her. She looks back at me and smiles. "I can't wait to see you tomorrow." I say hugging her. "I can't wait either Kamen." She says as I walk her back to her house. I wave goodbye and head home.

The next day I wake up back in the same position I did before. I roll over and look at the rising sun. I sigh and get out of bed and walk down the stairs and get on the bus. I sigh and look around. "I don't see Jenny anywhere at all. Did something happen?" I think to myself as we get to school I walk to the front gate and expect to see her there, but she isn't.

Walking inside I look around. Jenny is nowhere to be found. "Did she already get here and is in class? But she always waits for me." I think to myself as I head to class. Once I'm inside, I see Jenny sitting down at her desk. I walk up to her. "Hey, I didn't see you on the bus or at the gate." I say to her. She looks up at me. "I'm sorry, something came up and I came in early and wanted to get some studying done before class started." She says as she looks back down at her book.

I sit down at my desk. "Why is she being so weird. Did something happen with her parents? Or is it about last night?" I think to myself as the principal walks in and begins class. "Ugghh. This is so boring." I think to myself as the principal starts talking about history. I tune her out and stare at Jenny. She looks back at me. I smile, but she just turns around and looks back at her book. "That's weird. Did I do something?" I think to myself as the bell rings.

I get up and walk to Jenny. "Hey, wanna get lunch together?" I ask as she gets up. "I'm sorry but I can't eat lunch today, I have to get to my next class and study more." She says as she brushes past me. It looked like she was crying.

I follow her and stop her. "Jenny, what's going on? Did I do something?" I ask her. She looks up at me with teary eyes. She sniffles. "I'm sorry Kamen, you didn't do anything. My life just feels like it's coming crashing down. I just didn't want to bother you with it. I know you like our time together. But for right now can you give me some space?" She says walking into class.

Standing there I feel frozen. "What happened that she wants space? Did she find someone to be with and wants to stop being my friend? No, that's impossible. I'd know if she did. We're practically inseparable. I really hope it isn't about last night." I think to myself as I give her some space and go to the cafeteria and eat.

3 months later at the graduation ceremony.

I walk inside the building wearing the gown they gave everyone. I look around and I can't find Jenny yet. "Maybe she'll be alittle late." I think to myself as everyone slowly starts coming in.

I sit down in my chair and see Jenny come in she stands on the opposite side of the chairs and watches the principal slowly start things up. " I can't help but think I did something. Even though she said I didn't. It's hurting my heart to be separated from her like this. I think today is the day I'll finally tell her." I think to myself.

Jenny looks over at me. "Hey, Kamen. Come over here". Jenny said.

I walked over to see what she wanted while the principal was reading out names. "What's up Jenny?" I asked.

"I don't think I can be friends with you anymore, I'm sorry." Jenny said. I stand there looking stunned.

"It's not you Kamen, it's my parents. They don't want me around you anymore." She said with tears in her eyes as she walked up to the stage and grabbed her diploma and left, without saying goodbye. It's like I didn't exist.
