Finally, he told her to keep her breath until Cain would infuse mana into her, and he pricked himself with a deadly poison mix.
Deadly...if he didn't have any poison resistance ability or phoenix regeneration.
Following his previous experimental data, this amount of neurotoxin should cause an effect of apparent death for around one and a half minutes.
*Just right to make her hear his guilty confession. *
This was what Eric thought, but in his plan, there was something he didn't quite consider: the loyal fanbase of two viewers that were following his story.
Eric, during his first life, was agnostic: he didn't have any proof or logical reason not or to believe.
For this reason, to be more truthful, he felt himself become an atheist when he saw the evil in the world and felt like believing in something higher when he saw the good.
The first case remembered him of his father leaving his family, the early bullying, the betrayal he was the victim of, and, finally, his uncanny ability to manipulate others' thoughts.
The second kind of experience remembered him the unadulterated joy of kids playing, animals asking for the pat of their owner who just returned home from work, and natural examples of beauty like an intense sunset with a variety of shades of colors or a starry night that made him feel less important, and with him, his worries became insignificant too.
Eric was in the middle: not evil enough to use his ability without any moral repercussions and not mindlessly happy to the point of finding beauty in what wasn't just a mindless expression of the greatness of nature.
For these reasons, he approached his experience on Earth as a spectator of this mediocre film called ''Life''.
He didn't know what the ending would be, but he was ready to accept both the black void both the archetypic tall man with a long beard judging him and his life.
He didn't feel his life was that important in the grand scheme of things. For this reason, excluding suicide from the options because he didn't actually hate the show ''Life'' up to that point he lived purely for his enjoyment.
On the contrary, if he had a traffic incident and managed to return back into his body after some mystical experience, he would have probably been happier, as if when completing a puzzle or adding a full stop to an answer he searched for all his life.
After his first ''death'', though he didn't even get an answer, his body just disappeared when he was on the point of dying. Reappeared in the world of Ouroboros and was cured by the royal healers before he could see any light at the end of the tunnel.
His first mystical experience wasn't reincarnation but evocation or teleportation, depending on the chosen fantastic or scientific point of view.
In a way, they answered him though. They told him gods existed and interacted indirectly with humans thanks to the law of causality, which, to keep the universe stable, limits the scope of the possible interactions between gods and humans through the exchange of this kind of power or divine coin called causality.
Still similar to his first life, his second one didn't give him any definite answers about the afterlife.
Everything was too sudden and too flashy to be the final answer.
He felt more like a videogame than the real world.
He felt a change in his opinion when he first met Nemesis: there was something unique about her, not in what the eye could see or perceivable from the other senses. He instinctively felt reverence when he encountered her, even before she presented herself as a goddess.
On one hand, he was sad he couldn't have any answer just yet and had to restart another life. On the other hand, in the best world possible, he wanted an answer without dying, and he would definitely enjoy paying back the debts of the blood of his past.
This was his internal struggle, so it wasn't surprising he would be left speechless when he opened his eyes and, instead of seeing Rubra and Cain he saw Nemesis and another woman, whose face was covered by a pink veil.
To his eyes, they seemed flabbergasted too, as if seeing a rabbit grabbing a man out of his magician's hat.
In this way, they passed a second watching each other before Eric decided to break the silence:''So can you explain why I'm here? ''
Then finished his sentence:''I was on the point of giving Rubra the revenge she so much desired for the death of her parents... ''
As in their first interaction, his train of thoughts was interrupted by her:''Please give me a break, Rubra, Rubra, Rubra, you don't see me for two months after finding love in the Cinder Forest, you abandon any pursuit for revenge, and don't greet who is in front of you and just talk about that chicken!''
The other girl then decided to comment, as if adding fuel to the fire:''Arara, you are so lovey-dovey with each other, when are you gonna make...eggs? ''
Hearing her words, he instinctively wanted to make her face meet his left knuckle, but he knew better than that: her aura was as or more intense than Nemesis'. It would be stupid to make her his enemy. Moreover, her appearance was faint, as if the veil emitted pink light in the surrounding space, not making him distinguish any figure behind that light.
Reading his thoughts, covered by the veil, the woman licked her lips, as if tasting something good whose flavor would improve given the right cooking time.
The previous comment of the woman had visibly angered Nemesis, but she decided to talk about it with her in the future, putting her priorities first.
''Now there's no time for joking, Eric I called you here when I saw you using that poison in order to leave you two pieces of information. ''
Seeing her serious face Eric steadied his mind, hearing her with full attention.
She then continued:''First, when you finish off that lizard don't absorb his core, for more than a reason that I don't have the time to tell you now, you'll be able to figure it out with the help of the system. ''
Her face smiled slightly before finishing:'' Second, if you still desire revenge on your past comrades and don't want to retire on a farm with your human-sized firebird, come quickly to Panpolis, in my temple I'll be able to upgrade my blessing which will definitely turn out useful to give you revenge, that's it.''
Hearing her talk about a blessing the other woman's voice changed as if she was pouting:''That's not fair I want to upgrade my blessing too, you'll find my tem... ''
Cutting her off at the right moment Nemesis said:'' We don't have time for that, didn't you see his new ability in his status?!''
*My status? *he thought.
Finally, she quickly called him:''Eric steady yourself for battle and don't let your heart grow weak because of love! ''
The other goddess gave him her parting words too:''Bye bye, see you later honey! ''
A moment later the multicolor sphere was attracted away from the space created by the two goddesses, now left alone.
The pink one said to Nemesis:''My little Nemesis is so clingy, eh eh.''
From her tone of voice, Nemesis knew she was clearly teasing her.
The revenge goddess was slightly hurt by the comment but told her with a harsh voice:''Don't tell me that, you sexual offender! ''
Then continued:''You shouldn't have shown yourself to him. ''
Finally saying:''What if it changes his destiny? ''
The other answered her in a grave tone that seemed totally different from the previous light-headed one:''Impossible, he isn't so weak to have his destiny altered by me.''
Then her face returned to the usual smiling one as if what just happened didn't, and proposed to Nemesis:'' Shall we eat some cookies while watching them fight? ''
