In the early morning mist, a lone figure arrived at the doorstep of Ring City, the capital of the Kingdom of Arvandor. That figure is me, Kael. I appear to be an ordinary 16-year-old boy with white hair, but, in truth, I'm a time traveler from the future.
Trasa, the organization I work for, found me 10 years ago lying unconscious in the middle of the road, wearing clothes from a couple of centuries ago. It was clear that I came from the past. Trasa took me in, trained me, and now I'm a time agent. We, time agents, deal with threats to our timeline from the past or future. This is my first-ever mission, to collect the time crystal. Time crystals are very valuable; possessing one gives the wielder immense power. For some unknown reason, these time crystals have been scattered throughout different eras of history. And one of them is here in Ring City.
Approaching the gate, the guard said, "What strange attire you have. You aren't from around here, are you?"
"Well, you're right. I'm a traveling adventurer, but I lost my adventurer card on the way here," I replied. Of course, what I said was a lie. I couldn't just tell them that I came from the future.
"Sorry, kid. Without any proof of identification, you need to pay one sliver to enter," said the guard.
"Sure thing. Just a sec...," I thought to myself. I wasn't sure if I had any money in this era's currency. After a moment, I found it. "Here you go. Do you know where the adventurer guild is?"
"It's just north of that fountain over there," said the guard, pointing to the fountain.
"Wow, this is a beautiful fountain," I thought, then continued to the guild. We just received a reading that a time crystal is here at this time, not the expected location. There's no telling how long it will take to find it. I need to collect more information. Being an adventurer is the best way to gather information. And it will be my main income for now while I'm here.
"Hi, I want to register as an adventurer, please," I told the receptionist. She then turns around to face me. I was taken aback by her beauty. She had long blonde hair, eyes the color of the sky, lips red like a strawberry, and, most of all, her big breast stood out from her slim body and nearly burst out of her dress.
"Mister...Mister," she said with a soothing voice, bringing me back to reality.
"Wowww. Your boobs are big!" I blurted out embarrassingly.
"It's rude to stare at a lady, you know," she giggled. "My name is Sara. Nice to meet you. Here's the form to fill out, and the registration cost will be three slivers. As a new adventurer, you will start as a rank G. You will rank up as you gain more experience. As you rank up, the commissions' difficulty and danger will increase too," she explained the rules for the rank-up exam.
As I came here with little to no money, I'm in a hurry to earn some since I'm famished. After filling out the registration form and giving her three slivers, I asked
"Are there any commissions suitable for a beginner like me?"
"Your name is Kael, uh. What a nice name you have. Here, these are all the quests that you can take. Just choose whatever you desire."
She showed me a pile of commissions, but those were simple odd jobs, errands, and collecting medicinal herb jobs. As we learned about medicine while training in the academy, I took the collecting medicinal herb job.
And now I'm off to gather those herbs. After taking the job and leaving the guild, I realized, I didn't know where to go to gather them. Not wanting to embarrass myself in front of Sara again, I approached the gate guard for directions. He laughed when he heard my story and showed me the direction to the forest where I could gather herbs.
While collecting herbs, I heard a scream from a girl, "AHHH... SOMEONE HELP. PLEASE DON'T."
