Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: A Quiet Day

The goblin hit the ground with his bat and stared at the rabbit. I realized his actions were pure bluff; in truth, he was extremely frightened.

The reward had motivated him, but fear was still constant. Fear was still the fundamental piece that kept them alive, and that applied to all creatures.

Not fearing was not being alive. Only the dead and stones had no fear.

The rabbit, on the other hand, was much braver and did not submit to the enemy. He did not lower his head, quite the contrary, he attacked first.

He propelled his body forward in his usual frontal attack. The goblin's only reflex was to jump for his life.

Blood spurted when a wound appeared on the little one's arm. The words "pathetic" almost came out of my mouth, but I held back as this was not the conduct of a leader.

I didn't have the time, power, or influence to act with such arrogance. I still needed those fragile creatures because, without them, I was nothing.

Still, I wasn't good enough to allow for failures.

"Come on!" I decided to act as the person who encourages, a facade, of course. "You can do it! I know you can!"

The goblin got up, holding his injured arm. My words seemed to encourage him. They were stupid creatures, after all.

The rabbit was still furious and ran for another attack, but this time the little green one was ready.

With the bat in his hand, as soon as he received the quick attack, he slashed down.

Blood still spurted from his shoulder, where a deep hole was, but the rabbit's body flew in another direction, colliding with a tree.

"Go! Finish him off," I shouted.

Injured, the animal could not react. The goblin hit him over and over again, with an aggression that even scared me.

When there was only bones, flesh, and skin left in a pile of ground meat, he stopped beating.

Despite the aggression, he did a good job.

"Good job," I said as I approached and put my hand on his shoulder. "Collect the body and keep moving."

The day would be long.

At the end of the day, we had a good reward. More than 30 rabbits were killed and a party was happening on the first floor.

I, on the other hand, crossed the magic circle and sat in the core room. The white wolf faithfully followed me.

He lay down on the ground and took a nap. He was tired from the daily hunt and so was I, but only physically. My mind was still racing.

I raised my hand and looked at my stats:

❂❂❂

[Information]

Name: Kayn

Race: Superior Nephilim | Level 2

Rarity: Unique | Grade 1

Class: Dungeon Master | Unknown Emblem

[Statistics]

Strength: 11 | Speed: 11 | Stamina: 11

Dexterity: 11 | Intelligence: 17 | Mana: 33

[Pause]

I've grown a little...

My stats have increased, but it's still very little. In my other life, I was never good at combat. I stayed at the top of the dungeon just managing and giving orders, but I don't think it's going to be like that this time.

My class didn't allow me to be a powerful fighter. However, in this life, I needed to follow this path.

Thanks to the various races I used to build my body, I'm sure I have talent for magic and combat. I just need to awaken it.

Without a master, using magic is impossible.

I only knew how to use the bow and arrow because it was the initial weapon given to all players in Vangloria, but I wasn't the best in the world and it didn't fit my style.

What weapon will serve me?

Strangely, I also didn't have a limit on my level and statistics. All creatures had these limiters that could be increased by growth and obtaining abilities, increasing grade, or changing class.

However, there was still a visible limit, but where were my limits?

Imagine if I could become infinitely stronger! Ha... Ha! Just a joke, right?

With these doubts in mind, I opened the dungeon statistics.

I finished evaluating everything in this area, so I accessed a panel that I had ignored until then. My skill — Dungeon Creation — was at maximum.

This enabled several things. I could shape the dungeon in any way I wanted, without restrictions. If I had enough points, I could create any type of terrain, including mountains full of gold to erupting volcanoes.

I also had the ability to teleport myself between all floors. If I was on the 100th floor and decided to go down to the 1st floor, I could, as long as I could step on the magic circle.

Another option, which I did not have before, was to build floors above the Core Room. Normally, in tower-type dungeons, this room had to be the top floor by obligation.

However, with the maximum level of the skill, I could make it any floor. The core could also be moved with me.

Although it would be pointless to hide it. It leaks so much mana that any mage a few kilometers away could locate it.

I sighed with that, but continued investigating. I had 0 emblems and uses of the cauldron. There didn't seem to be any other methods.

The forest around me seemed to be very isolated. This would give me time to act and strengthen myself. Although it was similar to Vangloria, I don't know half of the dangers that haunt this world.

In addition, there were things in Vangloria that could destroy me in a matter of seconds. Powerful and scary beings.

With that in mind, I made the decision to start strengthening myself as well. However, before that, I needed to rest.

For the first time since I was reborn, I fell asleep.

❂❂❂

I woke up early. Actually, I didn't know what time it was, but I believed it was early.

"Wolf, come," I called the wolf that was still sleeping on the ground.

He woke up, stretched, let out a low howl, and walked by my side. We walked toward the first floor.

We descended in the middle of the clearing. The place was very different from the first day we came. Some goblins were working on various things.

The skin of some rabbits was being used to create something. They also set up some huts in the middle of the woods and collected wood.

As soon as I appeared, the workers stopped to greet me and went back to work. In the distance, I saw an excited Gleen running toward me.

"Master Kayn, I want to show you something!" he exclaimed with a smile that went from ear to ear.

"Calm down. What is it?"

"Look at this!" he called another goblin who, when he came close, knelt down.

"H-hello, M-master," the goblin stammered with difficulty.

"Oh!" I was really surprised. This never happened in Vangloria. "How did you teach him?"

"He can only say these two things, but I think I'll be able to get more soon!"

His excitement was incredible. I put my hand on his shoulder, almost having to stand on tiptoes, because he was much taller than me, and comforted him for a job well done.

"Keep it up."

I bid farewell, nodded my head, and continued wandering through the clearing until I saw something.

There was a small goblin in the corner messing with the skins. The problem was that she had a lump in her belly.

"Gleen, is she sick?" I asked.

"S-she...? No, she's just pregnant, Master Kayn."

"Huh. Just pregnant. I see."

Wait a minute...

"Pregnant?!"

I was astonished by the situation. In Vangloria, it was also common, but not this fast. She probably got pregnant on the day she was created.

"Do you know who the father is, Gleen?"

"I have no idea."

I stared at the scene for a while, a little perplexed, I won't lie. Until something crossed my mind.

Could Gleen be the father?

I looked at the guy and the creature for a moment, disgusted, of course. Well, he was a goblin until yesterday too. You can't argue about taste.

The reproduction of these creatures was accelerated, so in about 15 days, goblin babies would be born. In another 15 days, they would be young goblins ready for combat.

When goblins mated with others of the same race, about 5 to 6 were born per litter. With other species, the number grew to 7 to 10.

"Are there other females?" I asked him.

"Just two more. The traitor the master eliminated was also one."

"Was? Hm. I see."

"Is any other pregnant?"

"I don't think so, but if it continues at this pace, it will be soon. Does the master want me to stop it?"

"It's not necessary, but control the birth rate, make sure the females have good nutrition, and avoid inbreeding."

"Yes, Master Kayn!"

With this problem solved, I continued walking around the place. I passed the clearing and went towards the woods. Suddenly, the wolf smelled something.

"What's that?"

He sniffed a little and jumped behind a bush and there was the Horned Rabbit. I sighed with relief. The little one seemed to have healed from his wounds and was just quietly grazing.

My hatred for him had passed, so I ignored him and moved on. I walked all over the place. I saw nothing of relevance and returned to the clearing.

I helped the goblins, ate some rabbit, and went back to the Core Room. The wolf went out to hunt.

Inside the room, I searched for useful items.

❂❂❂

[Item]

Name: Copper Axe

Type: Axe

Rarity: Common

Durability: 100/100

Ability: None

Description: An axe forged of iron and bronze. Great for cutting trees and heads.

Cost: 100 points

I think I'll buy some of these for the goblins when I have more points.

I continued searching, but didn't find anything too relevant. Many items were locked, others were simply useless.

With not much else to do, I picked up a long piece of wood that the goblins found on the first floor and started training my body.

I could only swing the stick from side to side like a child playing with a broom handle, but it didn't matter.

If the system in this world was similar to that of Vangloria, just swinging this thing for a few hours would serve me well.

I continued in that process for hours until the wolf returned all bloody. I was also sweaty, so I decided to take a bath.

I used my powers to remodel the room and created a spring with a small pool. It only cost me a few points.

I was sitting in my small natural water pool while the wolf swam back and forth.

"This life is actually quite enjoyable," I thought.

Thus, another day passed. Luckily, it was quite peaceful.
