Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Awake

Lee Gim was sitting at his desk in his room, staring at his turned off computer.

He hadn't seen the computer for three years. Or his room. Matter of fact, he hasn't seen anything for three years.

Lee was in a coma.

He just happened to fall down the stairs, and that's all it took. Knocked him out cold for three years.

He missed middle school. Which was sad, since for the first time in his life he was going to go to an actual school, just so he could be with his friends.

His only friends.

There was Ken Hermé, a tall boy with dark brown hair and thick round glasses, along with a kind personality and a love for baking.

There was Rei Suzuki, a girl with cyan (or was it teal?) hair, alway clipped back, and was usually quietly humming a tune.

There were the twins, Himiko and Hanako Akasaka, both with hair that's a yellow-orange gradient, only able to tell apart by their eye colors, always working together on a comic book.

And finally, there was Hope. Hope Carnation.

Lee sighed.

If he had woken up three months earlier, he might've seen her. But no.

The first news that he got when he woke up was that Hope was dead.

She was found outside of their treehouse where they used to hang out all the time by his four other friends. From what Lee heard, her body seized up or something, and she just...died.

It didn't make sense to him.

Lee left his room, not bothering to turn on his computer.

He went into the bathroom and looked at himself.

Lee looked at his own gray eyes.

They looked dead, he thought.

"Lee? Is everything okay?" Lee's mother's voice rang from behind his door. "O-oh. Yeah, don't worry mom, I'm fine," he responds, not wanting to worry his mother. His mother already had enough to worry about, with her son being in a coma for three years and everything. "If you say so...tell me if you need anything." Her footsteps fade away quickly.

Lee stared at himself again. He noticed that his hair was also gray. He had forgotten about it somehow. But it doesn't matter. It also looks dead. Lee decided that he was going to wash his hair.

After that, he went to bed.

He was woken up by his alarm that he set up.

Lee turned it off. He needed to get up to get ready for school. Lee brushed his teeth, ate some cereal, hugged his mother and father goodbye, and left.

He had no idea what was going to happen, and he didn't care.

Lee walked in through the front doors of the school- and ducked as a backpack came flying through the air at his head. He didn't need to go into another coma. Lee checked his schedule on his phone.

Class B087

Lee blinked, then sighed. At least he didn't miss any years of high school. He heard that it was hell, but he didn't care. Lee walked right in the classroom. There was no teacher, but a different sight had met him.

Round glasses.

Cyan hair clipped back.

Two yellow-orange gradient hair messy and over the place.

The others stared at him back. Finally, Lee broke the silence. "So...uh...hi-" he was interrupted by all four of them hugging him imminently. "Lee!" all four voices sang. When Lee's friends finally let go of him, he looked at each and everyone of his friend's faces. "It's nice to see you guys again," Lee says, with a slight smile on his face. The others were tearing up a bit. "Bro, we thought we might never ever see you again!" Himiko says, his blue eyes bright. "Y-yeah! We're so glad that you're alright," Hanako says with his eyes, these ones brown, bright. Ken smiles. "It's been a really long time...a lot of stuff has happened since the last three years..." After everyone calmed down, the smiles disappeared. "You...you heard about Hope, right?" Rei's soft voice asked Lee. Lee nodded. "Yes, I have, but it doesn't make sense." Both twins then said at once, "That's what we've been saying!" Lee looked at Ken and Rei. "How does one die just like that? I looked some more, and it seems confusing. She seemed well the day before, her parents said, and her parents said that she looked well the hour before, so how.." Lee shakes his head. "Perhaps now isn't the best time to figure things out."

The others agreed. Then, more kids started to enter the classroom. Lee didn't know any of them aside from Ken, Rei, Himiko, and Hanako. The teacher entered, and then introduced himself as Mr. Robinson. During class, while Mr. Robinson's back was turned, a piece of paper was tossed onto Lee's desk. Lee turned around, and saw Hanako, gesturing at him to open it. Lee put it on his lap and opened it.

"Oi, we're going to sneak back into the school at 8PM, do you want to join?"

Lee looked up at Hanako, and nodded, then destroyed the piece of paper, so that no evidence was left.

After school, Lee asked his mother if he could go somewhere. His mother said it was okay, just be careful. Lee didn't take anything with him but his phone, and then he went outside of the school's front gates.

He waited for five minutes, then he saw the four faces he had been waiting for. "Hey, you're here early as always!" Himiko says. Lee nods. "I always am," was his response. The five then climbed over the gates and into the school. Lee was surprised that the front doors were unlocked. "Shouldn't they lock it..." he said. Ken shrugs. "Yeah, it's weird, but I guess they didn't think of it. Which is kinda we-"

Click.

The lock clicked behind them. Rei turned around. "Oh, oh no. That's not good..." she said, her eyes wide.

A huge gust of wind brushed through all of them, knocking them all to the ground. Lee was confused. How did wind get inside of a building?

A large booming voice, out of nowhere, then said,

"You five shall pay the price."
