It took Kai 3 hours before he got to the cave, that's how deep he got into the forest.
When he entered the cave, a lazy smile appeared on his face. He immediately disregarded everything else and laid down to sleep.
It seems there was a lot of hidden fatigue built up in his body after he went berserk. He was pleasantly surprised. He had no idea he was carrying so much fatigue until he laid down.
"Even though it was accidental, I still spent a long time powering up. I guess I need a break before I continue moving." Thinking idle thoughts, Kai closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.
With his body and mind finally relaxing after many grueling months, he ended up having a nice dream.
It was a dream of the future with Lyon, Elsie, the night owls and a couple of blurry figures that he didn't know quite yet relaxing and laughing.
It was a dream of what he sought to achieve. A dream of his peaceful life after he reached the strongest.
The next day, Kai can be seen walking on the rough ground of the forest of Hulda. Because of going berserk for months, he nearly forgot about his original goal to get back to the Fiona kingdom.
Having a mode of transportation will be ideal but sadly he doesn't have that so he has to walk on foot.
Ever since he regained control of his body, Kai had felt a slight disconnect between his thoughts and movements.
Although I've regained control, the bestial instinct isn't something foreign. After I became part dragon, it became part of me If I don't control my emotions there's a good chance I'll go berserk again.'
Kai sighed thinking about the future, but he was resolved to continue. "Just like I learn to control my fire dragon magic and master my fire magic, I will learn to control my instincts and not run rampant."
However, a certain sound bought him back to reality. It was certainly not the sound of beasts, Kai almost annihilated all the beasts dwelling in the forest. So what was that sound?
As Kai turned to his left, he immediately found his answer. It was the sound of a carriage being pulled by horses.
"A group of travelers." Kai exclaimed with joy. "I would have completely missed if I was any later." Mumbling so, he started walking towards their direction.
If he missed them, who knows when he would bump into another traveling group?
"Halt!" a young man immediately stopped Kai from approaching further before questioning him, "Who are you?"
"Just a traveler passing by," Kai gave a casual smile, neither too friendly nor too unwelcoming.
The young man studied Kai's appearance with a frown. Although the stranger before was in a good condition, the same can't be said for his clothes. All of his clothes were torn, both up and down. The only thing intact was the white scarf he wearing around his neck.
"You're travelling alone? Are you crazy? Even if the forest of Hulda doesn't have as much magic beasts as the beast glade, they still roam around."
"Not at all, I originally travelled with a group but we were attacked by bandits and I was forced to flee for my life." Kai lied with a straight face.
Just as the young warrior prepared to continue his interrogation, "What's going on."
A someone spoke out with a commanding voice.
It was a burly middle-aged man with a muscular build. His gaze was clear, and his vitality was vigorous, which generated a commanding presence superior to the young man.
The burly middle-aged was an A rank adventurer.
"Hugo!" The young man greeted before he pointed at Kai and reported, "This person suddenly approached us, so I was just questioning him."
"I see." Hugo looked at the sorry state of Kai's clothes and felt sorry for him, it was no doubt that he got involved in an intense battle. So he thought that Kai was likely attacked by bandits and was looking for a ride.
Appearing at that conclusion, he said "Let him in." Hearing the man response, Kai smiled humbly, "Thank you for letting me join you."
"No need to thank me. Just don't cause problem for us, Okay." Hugo said with a laugh before entering back into the carriage and Kai followed shortly after.
Thus the journey began
As they headed towards the Fiona kingdom, the group began asking Kai questions upon questions without giving him room to breathe.
Why were you here alone? Did you travel with a group? What happened to them? Did you get attacked by bandits or magic beasts? Did you see what happened to the forest?. These were the kind of questions they were asking Kai.
Kai calmly answer all of their questions, he lied of course. He couldn't tell them that he stayed with a dragon for 3 months and got stuck in the forest for 2 months. Therefore, he cooked up a believable lie to tell them.
The group stopped several times to set up camp, getting to the Fiona kingdom will take them at least two weeks. So they have to take breaks, have the horses rest and recover its energy.
Kai's guard was up throughout the entire journey, he didn't know if he could trust the group so he was at high alert but it was unnecessary. The group of adventurers were good people.
From what they told him, they took a quest to slay a A ranked beast terrorizing a remote village. The monster was tougher than they expected so it took some time before they were able to kill it.
A group of adventurers, one A rank and four B rank were able to take down a A rank magic beast. Normally, it will take a group of A rank adventurers to kill so Kai was a little surprised.
But he didn't think about it for long. After he was able to kill an AA rank magic beast despite being a A rank. So it didn't surprise him that much. He thought that they used their environment to their advantage.
After two weeks had passed, they finally arrived at their destination: The Kingdom of Fiona.
"We have arrived." The driver announced.
Taking a perk outside the window, Kai was greeted the fresh wind and the beautiful scenery of his home. He has completely missed this feeling.
After travelling through the roads, the driver pulled the carriage to a small gap between two buildings. Kai said goodbye to Hugo and the others before jumping down from the carriage.
Kai made his way through the alleyway and tried to remember where his house was. Staying in the forest for 5 months almost made him forget the way to his house.
After hours of wandering around, Kai finally made it back to his home abode.
"It's good to be back." Kai thought so as he walked towards the door and bought out his house key to open the door. But when he tried to open the door, he was met with a pleasant surprise.
