Chapter 23 - Hitmen

Tears could be seen dropping from Salvador's eyes as he barely managed to keep his composure amidst the situation.

"Hey, you okay?"

Suddenly, Salvador jumped and awoke from his daze. He hastily glanced around and met eyes with his family. He couldn't muster up any words and was in a daze. "A-Ah, I'm just worried and nervous, y'know?" He said with a light chuckle.

Eleanor gave him a maternal smile and hugged her son. "You'll be okay my baby." Salvador's lips curved as he received the motherly love he barely got back on Earth.

Eleanor got on one knee and stood at eye level with Salvador. Her hand was still holding his shoulder and her eyes grew teary and Salvador could see that.

"Just promise me, you won't get hurt?"

Salvador couldn't say anything and only smiled back. He peered at his family behind her. "I'll take that as a yes." She hugged him again and the rest of the family followed suit, submerging themselves in a big family hug.

Unfortunately, Isora could not hug them so she improvised by flying on Eleanor's shoulder.

She released a small giggle at the sight and gave Isora a light tap.

They seemed to be there for ages. Salvador nearly started crying, however, a slow knock at the door stopped him from doing so.

Everyone's head snapped up to the door. No one moved until another knock resounded, only then did Yves approach the door and open it.

"You're here for-"

BANG!

Before he could finish speaking, a historical flint-lock pistol was placed directly in front of his face, and was shot.

Smoke exploded out from the barrel and enveloped Yves's face. Suddenly, a bright but translucent light shot out from where Yves's neck would be and enveloped his figure.

In front of him was a man clad in a dark robe, his face occluded by a peculiar mask. The smoke quickly dissipated into the air and revealed Yves's shocked face. His eyes were wide and he was leaning back, staring directly into the face of the man.

[ALERT!]

[Protector Bracelet Triggered!]

[Owner: Yves Alor.]

[Attack: Fourth Force.]

[Mana signature released.]

The assailant in front of Yves was baffled. A flintlock imbued by Fourth Force Magic would kill anyone under the Third Force, and that's considering that was from a normal range, but point-blank to the head could even fatally injure a Fifth Force Knight or Mage, so how did this man live?

He didn't have too much time to think and instead poured his mana into the flintlock instinctively.

BAANG!

Again, smoke with a tinge of blue was shot out of the flintlock and traveled to Yves's body.

However, the bracelet save his life yet again as another translucent wall of mana shielded him from the attack.

Yves finally came to the realization of what was happening; Someone found them out.

***

A white-haired man was walking down the streets with a hood covering his charming facial features and glimmering white hair. He had a rather relaxed expression painted on his face as he chomped down another piece of chicken he bought a few minutes before.

'Hm... At 9 he should be able to kill an unranked Mana beast. Lance did it at 10. Then... maybe master the Ninth Kitsune art of swords? Lance never did it cause it didn't suit him but maybe it would fit Salvador...'

This man was blatantly Jaxon who was pondering in his thoughts about how he would train Salvador. It included a mixture of sword and magic practice.

Typically beginner sword arts to improve his efficiency with the sword and basic things to do as a Mage which would help him greatly, such as Mana infusion, Body enhancement, and so on.

"Get some amazing lamb for only two copper coins! Buy three for the price of two!"

Jaxon flicked his head to his left to look at the voice yelling out their quite cheap prices for such a good piece of meat. He formed his mouth into a comical circle as he made his way to the stand.

The man behind the stand could see the man in a robe approaching his stand. His expression disappeared as he reached down to a dormant sword laying inside a box.

Before he could unlock it, the man spoke. "I'm not here to rob you, I'm here to buy the lamb." He said with a big smile.

He slightly removed the hood covering his face to show it to the man to prove it further.

The man hesitated, but he pulled his sword away from the box and let out a sigh.

"Alright... You scared me for a sec. You look like a thief just so you know."

Jaxon let out a small chuckle. "Unfortunately, I have to do it or I'll be swarmed like a celebrity."

The man laughed. "I see.

So, the three for two deal, correct?" Jaxon returned a nod.

The man spun around and reached into a glowing crimson metal compartment and pulled out three roasted pieces of meat.

Jaxon nearly salivated at the sight of the freshly cooked lamb meat. The smell it discharged was near perfect and it looked so good that if possible, Jaxon would be eating it with his eyes.

"Four copper, please." The man said as he handed the hungry Jaxon the meat.

He lifted his head up and brought the meat above his mouth and dropped it in, swallowing it after a vicious three bites. "Ah... This meat is-"

Mid-sentence, Jaxon froze. His pupils dilated to pinholes as his Mana core trembled.

The man behind the stand could see his facial expression and started to worry. "W-was it-"

Before he could finish, Jaxon dashed to his right at a speed that transcended the food-stand owner.

He didn't even register he was gone until a second later. 'T-Teleport magic?' He inwardly screamed.

Jaxon tore through the crowds with speed rarely matched in Locha. Large gusts of winds blew into the walking pedestrians and chunks of rock were uplifted as he pushed off the ground.

Booming shockwaves were unleashed from his foot with each stomp made towards a particular hotel where his soon-to-be disciple resided.

The robes and clothes harshly flapped and waved from the winds Jaxon generated purely from his natural running speed; No mana enhancements or skills.

It wasn't an exaggeration to say this wasn't his top speed.

If he were to run at his maximum natural speed, the gusts of winds and rocks that shot out because of the force he put into each step could even turn a normal pedestrian into a bloody mist with bone fragments and organs integrated in.

The distinctive mana signature was only a thirty-second trip to Jaxon. "Finally." He muttered

In front of him stood a small vacant area of the road. A bright white light enveloped his body and seeped into his body

His eyes quickly changed from a pale brown to a radiating violet as he firmly planted his foot onto the ground. Just a few milliseconds later he busted into the sky, passing the pedestrians from above.

The place where he burst from exploded and a large cob-web of broken rocks and crevices flared outwards in a twenty-meter radius. Rocks were still in the air as he cut down the thirty-second travel into a three-second journey with only Body Enhancement.

His eyes were surrounded by a foreign mist, his vision extending further beyond the walls to where it clearly outlined everything and everyone in the present.

He read the mana of everyone in the building which only made his heart wrench in terror.

Excluding Salvador's family, the rest of the people in the building had a minimum of a Cyan core. And the worse thing was they were shrouded by a small fog of black; A mana-deafening potion.

"Hitmans." He said, hatred fusing into his voice. He quickly gauged the powers and realized he wouldn't have a problem. Despite there being over twenty of them who, at their strongest, possessed a Violet core at the Zenith stage.

His eyes left behind a bright streak of white as he shot into the building which caused a loud explosion to ring out, a cloud of dust emerging from the hole he created.

He bolted straight to the person closest to the Alor family; the hitman who discharged a mana-imbued flint-lock in Yves's face.

The man barely managed to turn his head before it was grasped by a veiny muscular hand that completely wrapped around the front of his face.

Salvador and his family couldn't even register what happened next.

The mana covering the skin of Jaxon's hand grew several shades lighter and suddenly dropped down, following the movements of his hand.

With strength beyond fathomable, he threw the man down into the floor.

BOOOOOOOOM!

The man shot through 14 floors down and eventually clashed with the floor belonging to the ground.

Around him was a four-meter crater that went down two meters. The man's limbs were grotesquely bent and bloody, his head a bloody pulp due to the mighty force Jaxon put into his hand as he squeezed his skull.

The other hitmen flicked their heads to their dead comrade, some gasping in disbelief, some frozen in fear as they instantly realized their impending doom.

Suddenly, an ominous aura blazed from above them and they turned their heads to meet it.

In their eyes was a lone man with flowing white hair and a sword of pure light held in his hand.

His eyes were narrowed and he had a frown on his face with furrowed eyebrows.

"Say hello to God for me."
