"Well, we came here to talk with your mothers. And start our children on the path of friendship with your brothers and sisters." Jiu Feng mentioned, in a more mellowed tone. "Is it possible for us to see them?" She asked, swaddling her baby.
"Hmm, I'm afraid I'll have to ask them about it. Whatever answer they give will have to be acceptable. As I'm sure you're aware, I am in no position to reverse their decision on such a matter." I suggested, know full well I was limited.
"That'll be fine…" Jiu Feng said, nodding in response. The other two there, Flower Shadow and Fu Xuan nodded as well.
I sent the question through, waiting a few breaths before I got a response back. "They just told me that they'd love to see you visit. So you may head there at any time." I said. "Oh, before you go, do forgive me for not showing up to congratulate you before…" I added, stopping once I saw their heads shaking side to side.
"No need for any apologies. We already knew that you were busy." Flower Shadow explained. "It was the medicine you created that allowed us to have a safe delivery. And in my case, you really did a lot for me…" She continued.
There were a few chuckles throughout the room. Not because what was said was funny, but because it was all true.
Fu Xuan walked over to me crouching down so I could see her newborn. "You see, Isn't she beautiful? And more than that…" She spoke with a smile, clearly thankful.
"She's obtained your bloodline. Good. Very good. She'll grow up strong…" I smirked. "Little Aunt, you've got a fantastic elder sister. I'm sure you'll get along well." I added.
Fu Xuan's little girl opened her eyes and looked around, her eyes widening upon seeing me. The dragon lineage I possess is just that strong. Even a newborn can understand at glance.
"Pfft, she likes you already." Fu Xuan giggled. "Do you want to hold her?" She asked, curiously.
"Hey, come on now, you're going to let Martial Nephew hold our daughter before you let me hold her?" Martial Beast complained.
"Well every time you try to hold her, she starts crying." Fu Xuan snapped back.
I looked back and forth between the two of them. "If that's truly the case, then I think you've got a mama's girl on your hands." I chuckled. "I'd love to hold her, however it wouldn't be right for me to hold her before her own father. Instead, I'll do this…" I said, and with a finger gently rubbing the newborn's puffy cheek, a small amount of dragon language flowed. "You be a good girl, he's your father. And he loves you, I know it may not be as comfortable as your mother. But you should be able to feel just as much at ease with him as you are with her." Is what the language conveyed, the little girl seemed puzzled at first but, she caught a glance of Martial beast again and then nodded.
"Young Master, you… To think you'd go that far…" Fu Xuan all but cried. She had read the message herself as well.
"I'm not done." I pointed at Martial Beast and sent a light towards him. "This should make it feel more comfortable in your arms, at least until you can hold her without this. It won't last long though, so it'll be up to you to make her feel welcome." I explained.
"Thank you, Martial Nephew." Martial Beast said, all but crying.
Fu Xuan smiled, and for the first time, Martial Beast was able to hold his new daughter.
"Woah! That's impressive." Shen Ao said, stunned.
"Don't expect it to work every time. This time is special because the child is part dragon. Convincing her that her own father wasn't a bad guy wasn't hard for me. For the two of you… If your child has a similar problem, I don't think I'd be able to help." I explained before the other two asked me the same thing.
"Oh no, we don't have that problem. We did, however, want to show you them. Aren't they adorable?" Jiu Feng said, leaning down and kissing her baby's forehead. An action to which an extremely young giggle came out.
"I'm sure…" I said, shaking in my chair.
"Huh? Big brother? What's wrong, you're shaking." Xu Ding Ai asked, looking a little worried. "Normally I could fall asleep anytime just by cuddling up like this, but now…" She continued.
I placed a hand on her head and calmly patted it warmly, forcing myself to smile. "The truth is that… Well, I've been wanting a child myself. So have my wives. And we share that same connected feeling. Being shown these babies now… It makes it very difficult to suppress that urge. One, I've made a promise to wait a little longer." I explained. "That and my cultivation has been screaming at me to refine my final element. Which is another thing I have to wait for. Doing it now would cause damage to the original home of the spirits, and there are still many that live there." I added.
"Can't you just move them yourself? For you it shouldn't be that hard, right?" Xu Ding Ai asked, confused, in her mind someone who could bend space and time with an abundance of ease, should be able to handle it.
"Ahaha, if only it were that easy, but no. While I may have the strength to do so, I am opting not to. A move from one's original homeland must be something they chose to do. Helping them, in the way of manpower and resources is one thing. But doing the move for them is another. In short it needs to be something they all want to do." I explained. "Besides, I've got a surprise for them when they finish. One that will make them feel more at home. So, in the meantime, I need to train as many cultivators as possible." I added.
"Oh? But, why are you taking so much? Don't we have other allies?" Xu Ding Ai asked.
"We do, but they have been fighting the war on their own for some time now. It is High Heaven Cave Heaven that will be the spear extending beyond the shield. And I don't intend on sending the untrained. That would be no different than ordering them to die. No, I want as few casualties as possible." I answered.
