There was a moment of silence as the crew members waited for something to happen. Moon's Nether Glimmer and Sun's Burning Shine looked at Yang Kai curiously. Zhang Ruo Xi did as well, and in that moment felt a deeper attraction towards Yang Kai than she had previously.
"Do it. If you need my help I will do it as well." Zhang Ruo Xi declared.
"Don't worry, we can help him. But it won't be a smooth process. You seem to have a deep connection to him as well. It might affect the two of you as well. Are you prepared to bear it?" Moon's Nether Glimmer asked, explaining the complications.
"OF COURSE!" Su Yan yelled. "What I can't bear is seeing my son in such a state." She cried. "I can't save him on my own, help him." She continued, walking up to be next to Yang Kai.
Moon's Nether Glimmer and Sun's Burning Shine looked at each other and nodded.
"Very well. Just understand that this will be the most pain you'll ever experience." Sun's Burning Shine sighed.
"It doesn't compare to the pain I feel now." Yang Kai stated, flatly as if it was a matter of fact.
Some nodded in agreement, while the younger ones weren't able to comprehend the thought.
"I don't understand." One said.
"You will someday, once you have one of your own." Thunderclap Hall's Hall Master Lei commented.
"One what, exactly?" The younger disciple asked.
"A family…" Thunderclap Hall's Hall Master Lei answered, receiving several nods. "Is it possible to help bear this burden? I owe this young man a great deal more than I fear I'll ever be able to repay. At least with this I might be able to settle even a small portion of this debt…" He asked.
That sparked a few hopeful looks in the others as they waited for the answer, only to see the twins slowly shaking their heads.
"That isn't possible. That isn't how this works. You won't be taking any pain away from him. No one is. It is just a potential side effect of the treatment. One that would only affect his direct parents. It's fortunate his wives aren't here for this. Else they may have a risk of experiencing it as well." Sun's Burning Shine explained.
Su Yan let a smile come across her face. "Knowing those girls, they would do it willingly. I wouldn't have accepted their union if they couldn't handle something like that." She said drying a few tears.
"Well let's get started then brother. The sooner the better. We only need to provide the Source energy, right?" Moon's Nether Glimmer asked, poking my cheek.
"That should be enough, but… If it wasn't him I wouldn't even bother trying this. On three?" Sun's Burning Shine said, turning to Zhang Ruo Xi.
"I'll count… 1…" Zhang Ruo Xi said, starting the count.
Sun's Burning Shine stood to my right, Moon's Nether Glimmer stood to my left. Each of them pointed a finger at my head. And another at my belly. Their eyes began to glow.
"2…"
The Twin's Aura's flared, using a bit more control than normal. Showing off what they had been practicing since last time. The bolt of lightning that had been recovered by Hall Master Lei, floated down to the center of my chest. The twins gulped knowing that what was about to happen was going to be rather unpleasant, to say the very least about it.
"...Th… Three."
Hearing the number the two twins sent a torrent of Source energy from both of their index fingers. My lightning bolt was absorbed right back into my body. At first there was silence. Then the Chaotic Dead Territory's void grew windy.
Storms surged everywhere, the roaring crackles of lightning arcing every which way. Thunder pounding at the beat of a drum, no… A heart beat. Yang Kai and Su Yan both began feeling the sting. A sting incomparable to anything they've ever experienced before.
"Damn, this is what I'm putting him through? But… Why does it feel… Like my own source is growing stronger?" Yang Kai muttered through the pain. Sensing that Su Yan was about to start screaming, he kissed her so her screams wouldn't be heard.
"Thank you, Husband." Su Yan conveyed her feelings through the turbulent flow.
"No need, I will always do this." Yang kai returned, continuing their display.
It was clear that they were both in immense pain. But even still, the onlookers weren't even paying attention. Instead they focused on the beads of sweat forming on the twins cheek. And then… My eyes opened.
ROAR
I roared out, conveying the sheer magnitude of suffering one goes through when repairing their damaged source. A bead is one thing, but… A source, that is something far more painful to have damaged. It's like the difference between a minor cut to the skin and being nearly wiped from existence through disintegration. Naturally the reverse process is going to be… unpleasant.
Along with the roar came a further surge of thunder and lightning. Beforehand, in the battle only simple fluctuations could be felt and or seen from outside the Great Territory. Now though, Lightning arced through all the nearby Territories, sending thousands of people into a mixture of panic, confusion and even enlightenment.
My body floated up and the Twins torrent of source energy halted. They looked at me floating there looking at the pained expression on my face. Then I looked at Su Yan and Yang Kai. Both of whom have now grown more relaxed as if the pain had vanished, leaving only a soothing comfort.
"I shall bear it, there is no need for another to endure it…" I said in a thundering voice, then flew straight up above the ship, taking my Phoenix form once again.
Only this time had a significantly more vibrant color and my size had reached nearly half way through the Great Phoenix realm. The wounds were still there, but they rapidly closed up, healing without a scar.
CAW
I dove down, transforming into my dragon form. With a similar effect appearing on my body again. All wounds were healing, at a pace that would put infinity to shame.
ROAR
After a few moments of flying around in dragon form I landed back on the ship in human form, cracking my neck.
"Now that feels a lot better." I said, with my typical laid back smile.
