No matter how hard the twins tried, they couldn't concentrate. The thought of Torrance kept bugging them. Would the boy keep quiet or go around yelling there was a Teferi in their midst. Then again, knowing him as well as they have, he would probably decide to torture them a bit and toy with them just for fun. Doing their best to put thoughts of him away, they paid more attention to Elvis' words.
"For a while those who could affect the elements of the earth were considered gods, they gathered so much fame that sprung up jealousy from other wizards. That was until making great use of whatever you could master became something that could counter our abilities. Still, I believe, that we are unmatched in terms of prowess." He then got up and placed both arms behind him. "Up!" He said and everyone rose to their feet.
"This is a magic academy, and as much as you all are not expecting to go into any sort of combat, I will let you in on a secret. Peaceful times in this kingdom is close to an end and so everyone is meant to step up."
Hearing his words, the manner of test they took to be accepted, began to make sense. They were put in a situation were you can either see everyone as your enemy or join forces and get what you want.
"Our main goal for the four years you will be staying here is to make sure there is so much growth in your beings as a magic user that you are able to go stand against whatever comes your way," he said.
"Our usage of magic is limited, but, with my guidance we would be able to outmatch any opponent. You, with the blue hair." He pointed at one of the students and she came forward. "I want to demonstrate a bit on what I mean by enhancing our powers," he said as she moved to stand next to him.
"You, come forward." He pointed at another student, a boy this time. He moved forward. "What are your names and ability?"
"Bray Montelle and ability is Ice," the boy answered.
"Camilla Cosgrove, ability also ice." She answered.
'What are the odds I randomly pick two ice users?' Elvis thought to himself. While Bray was of average height with short messy black hair with a strand falling over his one eye and brown eyes, Camilla had light blue hair, with some dashes of white here and there, especially at the ends of the hair which fell at the back. She had somewhat of a heart shaped face and doe shaped dark eyes.
Elvis then told them to stand at opposite ends of the class leaving him in the middle. He then took a few steps backwards to avoid getting between what was about to take place.
"Everyone p ay close attention," he said. "As I said, we are learning about enhancement. The basic things you should know is how to utilize your ability. If you use fire, how much heat can you garner? If you use water, how much moist? Ice, how can you bring forth cold? When you realise how to control the environment so much so it favours your ability, then you will have gotten the first step of mastering your ability," he said and returned his attention to the two standing at opposite sides of the class.
"Using what I said, how cold you can make this room?" He asked and sat back down with legs folded. He didn't exactly tell them what to do and how to do it, so they were at a bit of a loss. Taking in a deep breath they decided to do whatever they could.
"For long, I have only used ice from within and just moved it here and there, now i have to influence the weather in this room without freezing it. How will I do that?" Camilla questioned herself and stared at her hands and then turned off her doubt and decided to concentrate.
While she found it hard, Bray saw this as a walk in the park. All he did was close his eyes and focused on spreading his ability thinly around the room but on the half he stood so he didn't interfere with Camilla's trial. From his hands alone, which began to have frost over them, faint lines spread across the room moving almost like the wind, causing chills to anyone near. They began to rub their arms a bit as the coldness increased.
"He's supposed to make the place cold and not freeze us to death," a boy mumbled while he shivered. Elvis was quite impressed with Bray's performance and turned to Camilla who hadn't gotten it yet.
"Think of it as spreading ice, yet not freezing anything. You are using your ability but slower." He said.
"Freezing things slower," she thought. "I should be able to do that." From her body the same faint lines, although less visible than Bray's appeared and spread across the part of the room she stood. Slowly, it got cooler, but she couldn't quite get it.
"Whatever ability you have, you can use the earth to influence it as he just did, adding the wind to spread his little ice breeze," Elvis said to class while referring to Bray. Camilla did what she could and brought as much cold as she could muster, but it didn't match Bray's. Elvis told them to return to the others.
Everyone would begin to try and do the same. The class was quite spacious so they stood leaving space between each person. Elvis would go around each person giving them tips on what to do while learning of what ability they had so as to tell them the right words.
He got to one of the twins and the amount of heat that came off him was beyond impressive. Though, they had agreed to not overdo things to reduce attention on themselves, seeing Torrance and worrying about he would do, they were letting out their emotions with their abilities. Currently standing next to him, Elvis was already visibly sweating, but the boy stood just fine, not in anyway affected by the heat.
Looking ahead he noticed another lad who looked exactly like the one next to him. He had to look at them both repeatedly before the realization hit him. "Oh, they must be twins." He said nothing to the one next to him at the moment and moved to the other who just stood there with his arms folded and a bit of a frown on his face.
Elvis didn't feel or see anything happen at first, but as he took more steps closer, he noticed the atmosphere around that one was quite dark as if around him floated dark clouds. Looking above the boys head, he could see small streaks of light appear and disappear. Sounds of rumbles also sounded around him and it was quite hot but nowhere near his brother's. Elvis could guess what ability this one had.
Elvis then closed the gap between them and said, "You look to have gotten this right. I thought it would be a hassle explaining things to you lightning users, but you being the only one here for now, I don't need to." He placed his hand on the boy's shoulder. "What is your name kid?"
"Raten Te-, Raten Silverstone," He answered looking at the man. Cursing himself inwardly for almost making a drastic mistake.
"You and your brother are quite impressive," He turned to leave. He had also placed his hands on the shoulders of other students. Only this time he had a reaction. Just to make sure, he returned to Kiyan and had a little conversation like he did with Raten and patted his shoulder as well.
"This..they must be the ones she asked me to keep an eye on," he said to himself and then smiled. "Was she concerned because she thought they were special?" He wondered and brushed off the thought. He knew their names now and would report back immediately.
