Hah...hah...hah...
An annoyingly sarcastic laugh echoed and vibrated through the cave's walls.
"What did I tell you Daniel?.. This is what awaited you the moment you didn't listen to me. Do you regret it?"
So noisy...
My left hand trembled, as it struggled to hold onto the sword whilst my right arm which had my dominant hand was completely limp from facing an earlier impact.
Just... One more hit. I need to deal as much damage as I can... So it won't be difficult for them anymore.
I straightened my back as I prepared to deal my last blow. The enemy infront of me turned serious when she noticed this.
"We could've helped eachother.... We could've been happy."
The air around me started to quicken and my hand gripped the sword tighter.
"Such bullshit."

Step... Step... Step...
The cemetery was unnecessarily huge and the graves I walk past gets more and more grandiose. Could this be a cemetery only for important people?
'If I really am Daniel right now then the world thinks that I'm dead, So what am I supposed to do?'
I could hop out right now and just make a claim to everyone that I survived, but wouldn't that be too risky? So far, I haven't figured out to use his abilities yet, not to mention the high chance of getting ambushed.
I dug through my memories for anything useful I could use. Perhaps somewhere I could go, a shelter I could stay in without having to deal with explaining, making excuses and dealing with the threat of being exposed to the public eye- wait... Ah.
A smile tugged at the corner of my lips.
I know where to go.

Okay, I know where to go but I also don't know where to go.
I know the name of the place, who I'm going to look for, but novels don't exactly provide a very clear map of their world's geometry. They only tell you vague descriptions, often being like: MC went to place A then arrived at place B, not telling where or when you're supposed to go left, right, up, or down.
My feet already started hurting from the long distance I've travelled by foot. I didn't have any money on me so I couldn't even think about looking for a ride.
It's pretty isolated here. There are barely any buildings and most are abandoned stores and gasoline stations. I've only been mindlessly following this highway to wherever it even goes to... Oh.
My eyes squinted to read a certain large sign on an old building that was a few meters away.
'Pawnshop.'
Ah... hahaha. The spirits must be quite humored today...
I first doubted if it was even open because of the pitiful state it was in. It looked like it could fall apart at any moment, but when I took a peek through the blurry glass window, a person could be vividly seen standing behind the counter. I pushed the glass door open and entered the shop, the door clicking behind me.
"Good afternoon noon sir! How may I help- ah?!... AREN'T YOU-"
"Oh this? I'm just cosplaying him." I bluntly cut him off and got rid of whatever he was thinking. I completely forgot that this bastard was famous so in panic, I said whatever excuse first came to mind.
There was a moment of pause in our conversation as he looked at me dumbfounded, but I didn't stop there.
"To commemorate and remember all the good things the O'great Daniel has done for humanity. His death was truly devastating and brought despair to our world but today on his funeral, I decided to dress like him for I was always told by friends and family that I resembled him greatly, and to bring joy to citizens in such a dark time like this... I made an effort to look like him."
Even I, myself could not believe the amount of bullshit that came out of my mouth. But I was feeling it, to the point that I also believed myself for a moment.
"Oh!... oh!... Sir, you truly resemble him greatly!" He seemed almost touched from my words and his eyes looked at me with a certain light.
This fool believed it anyway.
"Thank you, I have always taken pride in my looks because of that. Well that aside, How much can I get from these?"
I lay all the accessories and jewelries that were on my body on top of the glass countertop. I would've loved to keep up the act and play around a bit but I couldn't afford to get caught, so I shifted his attention to the sole purpose of why I came here. The boy hummed as his eyes scanned the items I put down.
"Please give me a second."
He started to careful inspect each one, his expressions drastically changing with each piece he sets his eyes on.
"These aren't just any pieces of jewelry...".
"So how much am I getting?"
The boy started computing and contemplating on each piece
"The cufflinks are very prized. I'll give you 220 Es for it.... The tie clips 80 Es... The watch, 9,200.."
I shuddered at the prices I heard and he just kept going and going.
Are they crazy? Putting this much on a dead person...
In the end I accumulated 10,190 Es.
This money could last me more than a month.
"Do you know where I could get a ride somewhere?"
"I can drive you to where you need to be"
"For free?"
"No-"
"Thank you!"
"What? I-"
"You're so kind!" I leaned forward and shamelessly gave him a pat on the shoulder. "Let's keep in touch. From now on we'll be friends."
"..."
