Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Finishing Touch

My eyes were fixed on Rhea's back as she battled the demon. I was at a loss for words and didn't know how to react. The scene before me was surreal, almost impossible to believe. Questions raced through my mind. How did things turned out like this? What is that thing? Where did it come from?

As I looked up at the dark clouds that blanketed the night sky, I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice that the battle between Rhea and the demon had ended.

The demon fell lifelessly to the ground. Rhea stood there, staring at it with wide eyes as she trembled with satisfaction. Her victory sent a surge of adrenaline through my system. Her strength and power stunned me speechless. I couldn't even muster words to say as I gazed at her.

She turned around and immediately rushed over to me and kneeled on the ground. "Master, are you alright?!" Rhea asked frantically.

"Yeah, I'm fine" I responded reassuringly.

"Master, I apologize for pushing you away earlier, it was uncalled for. I'm ready to be punished for my action" She said, looking up at me apologetically.

Huh...? Punish? By who? I blinked twice before remembering that she meant me.

"I forgive you" I told her, even though I don't understand what she was talking about.

"My master is too merciful!" She looked up at me in astonishment.

"Uhuh...." I replied.

"Thank you for your forgiveness, my master." Rhea smiled up at me.

I smiled warmly at her as I gently pet her head, and stroked her hair softly.

"Master, please pet me more!!" Rhea screamed in her head, unable to contain her emotions anymore.

I noticed her staring at me with pleading eyes as though begging for something. Does she want more pets? I continued to pet her head softly, and smiled at her sweetly as I caressed her hair.

"M-Master!" Rhea exclaimed, unable to contain herself any longer. She was panting heavily and her eyes were pleading for more. She's holding back the urge to lunge at her master and embrace him tightly.

Her eyes widening as she realized how bold she was being. She quickly calmed herself down, hoping her master didn't catch onto her little slipup. Thankfully, he didn't seem to notice, and continued to pet her gently, keeping his warm touch on her head.

"Hmm!... Mmm..!" She purred blissfully after receiving more affection, closing her eyes in satisfaction.

After giving her several petting sessions, "So did you killed that thing?" I asked her, staring at the demon's corpse lying limp and motionlessly on the ground.

"Yes, master." She replied. "How dare such a disgusting creature threaten my master?!" She yelled in outrage. "Such insolence! That was an act worthy of death! To threaten my master like this is truly unforgivable" She raged.

"Y-Yeah..." I murmured softly.

I couldn't help but notice that most of her injuries had already healed. Did she possess some kind of healing ability? It was the only explanation that made sense.

I looked at the demon's corpse, wondering if if I should try to find out more about it. Before I knew it, I found myself walking to it. As I approached, it suddenly moved slightly and lifted it's head, revealing those red glowing eyes, glaring directly into my soul.

"Wha- It's still alive!" I gasped. I took a step back.

Rhea glared furiously at it, growling deeply in anger as she prepared to destroy it into pieces. But it stopped moving, and let out a low roar.

"Wait, Rhea" I ordered her.

"But master, I must eradicate this vile creature! It is unworthy of mercy!" She argued.

"Yeah I know, leave it to me" I assured her.

I turned to look at the demon and it seemed to stare at me intently with those red glowing eyes. I placed my hand on it and began chanting to activate a spell.

"Aspirath..." I muttered.

A familiar surge of warm energy flowed into my hand through the symbol, coursing through my entire body. The demon let out a ferocious growl as I drain it's life force. It's massive body convulsed violently, and it let out a piercing scream of agony.

Despite its resistance, my spell held strong, causing the demon to writhe and twitch uncontrollably. Gradually, its movements slowed until its body went completely limp, drained of all it's life force. It's eyes remained open, staring blankly at me, a testament to my power.
