Chapter 5 - 5 Capital

As the boy woke up early in the morning, he could feel a strange sense of excitement that he had never experienced before. He quickly got out of bed and donned his best clothes - a tunic with the emblem of his family's house and a pair of leather boots. He knew that it was going to be a great day, as he was going to visit the capital for the first time with his father, who was a nobleman tasked with managing a newly established territory.

His father had promised him a trip to the capital for a long time, and finally, the day had come. The boy could barely contain his excitement as he joined his father for breakfast. They had a quick meal of porridge and fruit, and then they set off on their journey to the capital.

As they traveled, the boy listened intently as his father explained the importance of the capital and how it was the center of power and wealth in the kingdom. He also talked about their family's new territory and how important it was to make sure that it prospered under their rule.

Finally, they reached the capital, and the boy was awestruck. The city was much grander than he had ever imagined. The castle loomed above them, with its high walls and imposing towers. The streets were filled with merchants and traders selling their wares, and people from all walks of life bustled about their daily business.

"Wow, so this is a city", Ace could not hold back his excitement.

As they walked through the city, John suddenly stopped in front of an old man's shop. He turned to the boy and said, "Ace, I need to drop you off here for a while. I have some important business to attend to, and it's not safe for you to come with me. This old man will take care of you until I return."

"Old man Manny, help me keep an eye on Ace. I will be back shortly", John said as he left.

The boy was confused and a little scared, but he trusted his father. He reluctantly followed the old man to his stall, where he saw a. The old man looked at him kindly and said, "Don't worry, young lad. You'll be safe here. Why don't you have a look around and see if anything catches your eye?"

After a while, the old man asked Ace if he would like to help him out. Ace eagerly nodded, feeling excited to help in any way he could. The old man handed him a plank of wood and some chalk and said, "Can you help me write down the prices for these fruits, lad?"

Ace nodded and carefully wrote down the prices for each fruit on the plank. The old man smiled and patted Ace's head, saying, "You're a smart lad. I could use a helper like you around here."

"You really do know how to write. Thanks kid, you didn't have to do anything", Old manny said.

Ace just smiled as the responded, "it is okay, I just wanted to help".

"What a smart child, especially for his age. Yet my own grandson is the town's trouble maker..", Old man manny thought to himself.

Suddenly, Ace remembered something.

"Do you know about Magic", Ace asked.

The old man, who was hard of hearing, didn't hear the question right at first and responded, ""Huh? How is the traffic"

Ace repeated his question, and the old man chuckled and said, "Ohh, you mean Magic".

The old man looked puzzled and said, "Magic? I'm not sure what you mean, lad. I sell fruit, not spells and incantations."

Ace looked disappointed, but the old man pointed towards a bookstore on the other side of the street and said, "But if you're looking for answers, that bookstore over there might have some books about magic and other things that might interest you."

"Really?!"

"Can I go?!"

"I will be right back then", Ace said as he ran off to the bookstore.

The old man took Ace's book and began to read it, his face growing more and more shocked with each passing moment. "This...this is dangerous knowledge," he said.

As Ace entered the bookstore, the boy couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the rows and rows of books that filled the shelves. Ace made a beeline for the section on magic, as he wanted to grab a book.

Some kind of aura choked him.
