As Zhang Wei heard his father's words, he fell into deep thought. "High school? Former Zhang Wei ran away from home a week before winter break. That means winter break has already started. But he refused to return even after the holidays. That must be why father is asking," he reasoned in his mind.
Zhang Wei took a sip of water to clear his throat before replying, "Yes, I will be returning to school after the winter break." He then stood up from his seat and bowed 90 degrees to his father, struggling a bit due to his large size. "And I apologize for my unsightly behavior until now," he added with determination.
Despite showing little reaction, his father was slightly moved and asked, "Zhang Wei, are you alright?"
"I'm fine, father. I don't want to shame our family's name anymore, so I have decided to change for the better," Zhang Wei replied, showing a strong resolve.
As he contemplated the harsh realities of the adult world, Zhang Wei realized that a person's background and family name can significantly impact their success. Therefore, he saw the importance of having someone from his family to support him.
"You may sit down, Zhang Wei. Your father understands you. Please try to be a good son and don't bring shame to our family name," his stepmother interjected in a sharp tone, clearly seeing through Zhang Wei's intentions.
Zhang Wei resumed his seat and savored the delicious noodles and side dishes. "The food is so delicious. Is this how the wealthy eat every day?" he wondered to himself.
However, his stepmother decided to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere by bringing up Zhang Tao's internship. "Honey, isn't it time for Zhang Tao to join the company for his internship?" she asked, emphasizing the word 'company.'
"Yes, father. I have a one-month winter break from college, so I hope to help you in the business," Zhang Tao eagerly chimed in, smiling behind his glasses.
"In that case, come to the office tomorrow," his father replied indifferently without looking at anyone else.
"Thank you, father," Zhang Tao expressed his gratitude and continued eating his food happily.
Meanwhile, Sarah Kim, Zhang Wei's stepmother, looked at him with a smirk and a haughty expression. "See, brat? That's your position. My son will learn the business while you won't get anything," she said with a creepy smile.
However, Zhang Wei remained unfazed by her taunts. "She is strange. I don't care about the business. I will create my own business with my system. For now, I only need my father's support and name," he thought, smiling cutely while placing a finger on his chin.
But Sarah Kim was clearly not amused as she coughed and drank water, her face turning orange and red. "This brat!" she muttered under her breath.
