Chapter 3 - Space raider

"Okay that's true that guy's the baddest here. Leader of the block you best hope you get out before the doors open or you're dead meat." Percy says.

"If all goes well I'll just beat him again." I say.

"He'll get his buddy's to fight with him you ain't gonna win that fight." Percy says. "And I ain't helpin you either I'm in here for another either years don't feel like bein a meat bag." He says. I nod and look out my cell. There's peacekeepers walking around looking in every cell and checking off on a piece of paper.

"Hey kid." I look behind me and see another guy on the top bunk. "Didn't see me did ya?"

"No sir I didn't." I answer shaking his hand.

"Mikey." He says.

"Wade."

"New arrival." Someone says. I look behind me and see a peacekeeper with a clipboard. "Name?"

"Wade." I answer going unto the cell door.

"Age?"

"18."

"You're 18 and already here huh." He says. "Where you from?"

"District 6"

"Alright Wade I need you to come with me." The peacekeeper says pressing a button on his forearm. My cell door opens and I walk out, he grabs my arm leading me to the warden's office.

"Good evening Wade." The warden says when the door opens. "So I hear you were falsely convicted?" He asks.

"Yes sir I was." I say sitting down in a velvet chair. The warden sits down and hands me a glass of water.

"Well the judge has decided the evidence wasn't sufficient-."

"WHAT?!" I yell. "THERE WAS A CAMERA RIGHT THERE!"

"I know Quincy I understand that, I talked to him and he agreed to a release deal."

"What is it community service?" I ask.

"No, you have to join the space raiders."

"But I'm not old enough." I say.

"He doesn't care it's either that or the death penalty."

"How is the death penalty fair?!"

"It's not but a peacekeeper died today and you were the closest person to the death with clear ID so the blame is placed on you." The warden says the lifeless black mask just staring at me. "If I were you I'd take my chances."

"Well I guess I'll join the raiders." I say.

"Alrighty then, I need you to sign this contract and release agreement form." The warden says sliding two papers on the desk to me with a pen. I read over the contract and release agreement form signing both. "Welcome to the space raiders." The warden says. "You will have 10 minutes to gather your things before you are shipped out."

"Yes sir." I say standing up. The peacekeeper once again grabs my arm and leads me to my cell opening the door. When it closes and the peacekeeper leave Percy walks over to me. "What'd he say? You out?"

"Uh no." I say processing everything. "The judge said that the evidence wasn't sufficient enough to get me out but is enough to prove that I killed a peacekeeper. Here's his story, there was a peacekeeper killed today at a riot when the bombings happened and I was the closest person to him with a clear camera ID. I guess the warden tried to get me out but failed."

"Yeah he's a good guy got my sentence reduced to 50 years instead of life." Percy says.

"How much longer you got?" I ask.

"27 years in a week." He answers.

"Try and keep in touch." I say.

"It'll be hard, we get a call once a week probably won't work with the schedule of the raiders." Percy says.

"Yeah I'll be sure to visit then." I say shouldering my bag and walking out of the cell.

"Alright man good luck." Percy calls when I round the corner.

'God knows I'm gonna need it.'
